Community Highlights Special programs, updates, community campaigns, classes and more

Seminar for first time home buyers 12, 19 & 26 Sept and 3 & 10 Oct: The USO in Graf is sponsoring a 1st Time Home Buyers Seminar for anyone PCS'ing in the near future. A licensed Stateside Realtor will be running the seminar and going over everything you need to know about buying a home. Class runs from 6–7 p.m. every Wednesday for the next 5 weeks with a Q&A following.

CFC Kick-off Ceremony open to the community 17 Sept: Starts noon at the USO located on East Camp. There will be opening remarks, a BBQ, cake cutting and giveaways. Come and support the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O), part of the largest workplace-giving campaign in the world. CFC-O will run from 17 Sept. - 16 Nov.

"Save a Life Tour" coming to Grafenwoehr and Rose Barracks 18 & 19 Sept: at the Rose Barracks Memorial Fitness Center, Bldg. 616 from 9 -10:20 a.m., 10:30-11:50 a.m., 1-2:20 p.m. and 2:30-3:50 p.m.; 20 & 21 Sept at the Graf Field House, Bldg. 547 from 9 -10:20 a.m., 10:30-11:50 a.m., 1-2:20 p.m. and 2:30-3:50 p.m. The Save a Life Tour, or SALT, will starts at 9 and 10:30 a.m., 1 and 2:30 p.m. each day. SALT is an alcohol-awareness program designed to educate Soldiers, Civilians, Family Members and Students about the dangers and consequences associated with drinking and driving. The performance includes a drunk-driving simulator and other sobering reminders of the dangers of drinking while intoxicated. SALT is funded by ACSAP and is open to all.

Community Huddle Thursday, 27 Sept: The Community Huddle is a monthly meeting for all community members to find out the latest info on programs, events, construction updates, and other important issues. Hosted by Col. James Saenz, USAG Grafenwoehr commander, the Community Huddle will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tower View Restaurant, Grafenwoehr Bldg. 209. Garrison directors and subject matter experts will brief topics and answer questions. Interested in becoming a U.S. Army CID agent?

Highly qualified Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard Soldiers in the grades of E-4 through E-5 who are over 21, and have at least 24mths of service are eligible. If you are E-5(P) or E-6 then you may apply with a waiver. The completion / submittal of an application does not mean you are guaranteed to be selected. Applicants will be selected based upon the needs of the Army in addition to meeting the basic prerequisites outlined on the CID web page below.

Bavaria Military Community to host Retiree Appreciation Day 19 Oct: The retired military community is invited to attend the Bavaria Military Community Retiree Appreciation Day, Friday, Oct. 19, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., Grafenwoehr Bldgs. 244 and 475. Meet other retirees from your area, make friends and share stories of living in Germany. The opening ceremony will be at 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at Bldg. 244.

Additionally, the following medical services will be available from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. during the Retiree Appreciation Day Medical Fair: -Immunizations: Tetanus, Shingles, Pneumovax and Flu -Blood pressure checks -Blood sugar test (A1C) -Diabetic foot screening -Nutrition information -Glasses ordering for prescriptions less than one year old

-Medication refill for prescriptions that are valid -Some basic new prescriptions for acute issues, i.e. sinusitis, allergies (No new long term medications) -Basic eye exams with new glasses prescription. Follow-up appointments can be made for dilation.

Stay vigilant and report suspicious activities For emergencies off post call 112, the European emergency number, reachable from fixed and mobile phones, free of charge, everywhere in the EU. Bavaria Military Community officials are asking everyone to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities as soon as they are observed. The safety of our families is one of our biggest priorities. No train ticket = STEALING! That’s right, if you’re caught riding a train in Germany without a ticket, you must pay a €40 fine, plus the cost of the ticket AND you may get titled with a criminal charge, “failure to pay a just debt” under Art. 134 of the UCMJ … because it’s “stealing.” Always have your ticket BEFORE boarding any train in Germany.

You MUST present your ID card to German Officials upon request In accordance with German law and USAREUR regulations, US military members, DoD civilians and their family members must present upon request their DoD ID Card to, Military Police, and host nation government officials to include: German Polizei, and Deutsche Bahn officials (conductors). Failure to do so may result in your arrest, criminal charges under the UCMJ and/or the civilian misconduct authority. If you are unclear on how this applies to you, contact your chain of command.

Abandoning your POV is a criminal offense In order to clear the installation, personnel must clear vehicle registration. Abandonment of a vehicle is a serious offense and could result in being titled under Art 92 of the UCMJ for failure to obey a lawful general order or regulation (AER 6001 and AER 190-1). Mandatory direct deposit of retiree checks by 1 March 2013 A treasury mandate will soon require DFAS, Cleveland to pay retirees and annuitants by electronic funds transfer.

Beginning 1 March 2013, most retirees and annuitants will be required to receive their pay directly to their saving or checking accounts.

For retirees and annuitants living in Europe there are a couple of ways to start direct deposit:  For retirees and annuitants who have an American bank account and want to use that – complete a fast start direct deposit form, sign it and mail it DFAS. Ensure to keep a copy for your records.  Use your mypay account to set up a direct deposit to your american bank/credit union saving or checking account  Call DFAS at the customer care center at 888-332-7411 and have the information available to do it telephonically (American banks only).  For people who wish to use an international bank – use the international direct deposit form and ensure to include the IBAN number in place of the account number on the form and mail to dfas or provide to your local RSO for processing.

U.S. Forces ration policy change for alcohol

By Installation Management Command Europe: After a legal review and acceptance by U.S. Customs officials, the total number of liters of alcohol that can be purchased per person per month by U.S. Forces in some European counties is changed from 6.5 liters to 6 liters.

Additionally, liqueurs with more than 33 percent alcohol by volume are now rationed along with distilled spirits (liquors).

Five or more miniature bottles (.05 liters) purchased together are now also rationed.

These changes affect Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, and Turkey.

U.S. Forces Ration Card, AE Form 600-702C, has been revised, and ration card holders will be issued the new ration card when their old one expires.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Overseas Program The Department of Defense (DoD) offers the WIC Overseas Program to eligible participants living overseas. The WIC Overseas Program provides you and your family with several important benefits: nutritious food, tips on how to prepare balanced meals, nutrition and health screenings, and access to other resources that help you and your family lead healthier lives. The program is available to eligible participants living overseas, including: civilian employees, DoD contractors, family members, and members of the uniformed services. If you or your family member is pregnant, postpartum, breastfeeding an infant, or a child up to 5 years of age, please call our Rose Barracks WIC Overseas Office (Bldg. 221) for eligibility screening at 09662-83-3790.

Bulk Trash Pickup – County of Neustadt 15 Oct: Netzaberg & City Eschenbach (North of B 470) 16 Oct: City Eschenbach (South of B 470) Curbside, in front of your home. Bulk Trash has to be out on curbside NLT 6 a.m. Pick-up is provided by contractors of the County Neustadt.

What will be picked up? Everything, that is too big or too heavy to go into the normal refuse container, such as: Furniture, mattresses, carpets, washing machines, dryers, radios, TVs, ovens, stoves, bicycles, strollers, and other items which cannot be dismantled, torn or broken down to a size that would fit in the regular refuse container. Each single item should be no larger than 80x40x32 inches and should not be heavier than 110 lb. Bulk trash consisting of metal (i.e. bicycles, washers, dryers, stoves, etc.) and electronic equipment (such as large appliances, small appliances, cooling devices, information & telecommunications including entertainment equipment) should be put out separately next to the normal bulk trash.

What will not be picked up?

- Normal refuse, recyclable material, Yard waste like cut grass, branches, etc...

- Hazardous waste - Tires, car parts, batteries, wrecked cars, motorcycles - Doors and windows (with or without glass), laminated floor, rouleaus - Construction debris - Night storage heaters Pick ups will be performed in three steps: 1. Combustible material: like upholstered furniture, mattresses, rugs, etc...

2. Electronic equipment: i.e. TV, PC, printer, scanner, radio, VCR, DVD player, monitor, vacuum cleaner, refrigerators and freezers (no permission sticker required anymore), etc… together with Household Metal items: i.e. bicycles, ironing boards, washer, dryer, dishwasher, stoves (oil stoves and oil barrels must be totally emptied) etc…

3. Salvageable wooden furniture: (i.e. bed frame, wardrobe, chair, table, etc….)

Smaller electronic appliances (i.e. hairdryer, toothbrush, telephones, drilling machine etc.) should be brought to the drop off point “Company Bergler” in Weiherhammer, Etzenrichter Str. 2, Mon.-Fri. from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. hour, CIV 09605-92090.

Any material not picked up must be removed by residents. For more, call your SORT Office at DSN 475-6664.

Combined Federal Campaign It is time for CFC to begin again. We will be hosting a special training session for all CFC unit representatives on Sept. 10, 2 p.m. in Grafenwoehr Bldg.533, Conference Room. Training will last approximately 1 1/2 hour.

Army Child, Youth & School Services, Family Child Care (FCC) Program is looking for on-post and off-post FCC home providers that are dedicated to delivering high quality, emotionally secure and educational child care to our military and qualifying DOD family members. You must live in government - leased housing. Benefits include: federal subsidies, free initial and ongoing training, and the use of materials and equipment to set up your home. Health and Safety Instructors: Volunteers teach lifesaving skills in the community. Classes such as Babysitting, CPR, First Aid, AED and other safety presentations.

Armed Forces Caseworkers: Volunteers work with local members of the military and their families ensuring the delivery of emergency communications.

Health Fair Volunteers: Volunteers staff a table at events in the community and engage those attending in conversations about preparedness and safety.

Seeking Emergency Placement Care Providers The children in the USAGG need you. The Emergency Placement Care (EPC) Program trains individuals to become 24 hour providers for at risk children. The community is in need of more providers as the number of children in imminent

danger increased due to the deployment rotation of family members. The training you receive will last you a lifetime and help you build your experience and resume. Call ACS 476‑2650 or 09662‑83‑2650.

The Grafenwoehr Postal Service Center needs volunteers Due to extreme staffing shortage, the Grafenwoehr Postal Service Center is in need of volunteers to help process mail.

Due to the security of the mail, all volunteers must be registered with ArmyOneSource and have a local background check on file. Volunteering allows you to give back to your community and gain valuable experience towards consideration for postal positions. Operation Rising Star 14 Sept. (Round 1), 21 Sept. (Round 2) & 5 Oct. (Finals): 7 p.m. at the Grafenwoehr Performing Arts Center. It’s that time again! Must be active duty, guard or reserve or the age 18+ active duty, guard or reserve family member to compete in the Operation Rising Star contest. Singers interested in signing up MUST complete an application form and perform at the Round I elimination in order to be considered for the Round II elimination. Attn. Soldier Athletes Soldiers in Europe wanting to compete in higher level sports program must now go online with a new application site. The site is: https://apps.imcom.army.mil/apptrac.Female and male Soldier athletes and coaches can be selected and tryout for 29 sports that lead to All-Army, armed forces, world military (CISM) and even the Olympics. Soldier athletes must apply for selection into the program. Commander’s approval will be mandatory before being considered by All-Army staff.

Soldiers have been competing or coaching on every U.S. Olympic team since 1948. Soldiers have medaled in shooting, basketball, wrestling, boxing, weight lifting, track and field, equestrian and modern pentathlon. Thirty-one Soldiers earned eight gold and six silver medals in a wide variety of competition dating back to 1948.

Depending on the sport and event, selected Soldiers may complete up to one to three months depending on the sport.

Soldiers when they return to their units are in better physical shape than when they left and are more motivated than when they went off to the training camp. Facility & Road/Openings/Construction/Closures Vilseck Washrack Delays 17 & 28 Sept: The Second Cavalry Regiment will be using the "Vilseck Washrack", Bldg. 685, to install electronic equipment into their fleet of vehicles. While most of the wash rack area will be occupied, access to the hose stands and to the spray stand is available. Anybody wishing to wash vehicles during that time should anticipate a delay.

Traffic interruption in front of Main Post Bldgs. 105 & 106 17 Sept. – 8 Oct: Regular traffic flow to be hindered during the modification of the sidewalk in front of Bldg 106 (Legal Center). During all this time the speed limit in this area will be reduced to 10 km/h. Please, watch out for construction vehicles and construction workers. On 17 Sept. and 5 - 8 Oct. the road will be limited to one lane only. Traffic thru the intersection in front of Bldg 105/106 (former bank and Legal Center) will be controlled with traffic lights.

Adult Education / Training FAST Classes Register now for upcoming FAST Classes at the East Camp (Grafenwoehr) Education Center. Class dates are 15 – 26 Oct. in Bldg. 223 for Rose Barracks and 9 – 19 Oct. & 22 Oct. – 02 Nov. in Bldg. 538 for Grafenwoehr. Soldiers who have redeployed since 1 January 2012 will have priority.

Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST) provides Soldiers with instruction in reading, mathematics, and language skills and is an excellent tool to prepare Soldiers to raise their GT score. The 60hour long courses are limited to twenty students per class. National Testing Center (NTC) News The NTC, operated by University of Maryland, will soon relocate to another location while renovations are being made at the Vilseck Education Center, Bldg 223. The date for the move has yet to be determined. It is highly recommended that persons interested in testing routinely contact the NTC at DSN 476-2462, CIV 09662-83-2462 to find out about availability of the facility. Contacting the NTC might prevent individuals from paying Pearson Vue a re-registration fee ($150+) in case the facility is not available due to their move to a different location or registering on line for exams outside normal operating hours. The Vilseck NTC only operates 20 hours per week and in the past individuals have registered for exams on line outside of established hours of operations.

Nürnberg Altstadtfest 13 - 24 Sept: 11 a.m. - 11 p.m., in 90403 Nürnberg, on Hauptmarkt, Hans--Sachs-Platz and on the isle Vordere Insel Schütt. The 800 entertainers and 60 free events attract around 1 million visitors to the Altstadtfest every year. Folklore, theater and dance performances, the traditional "Fischerstechen" and numerous Jazz concerts are among the highlights.

"Fischerstechen" is an old game from the Middle Ages where the fishermen, often in traditional costumes, stand on wooden boats using long poles (often with dried sea weeds or flax tied to the end) and try to push each other off the boat.

This old game is being revived all over Germany because of the fun it presents. First prize goes to those boat members who stay on their boat the longest. All other participants will sooner or later take a little bath in the chilly waters. On Sunday, 16 Sept., stores in the city center are open from 1 - 6 p.m., except in the Südstadt district.

International Line Dance Weekend 14 - 16 Sept: Pullman City Fun Park in 94535 Eging am See, Ruberting 30 (ca. 100 km / 62 miles SE of Regensburg).

A weekend for everyone who loves line dancing! The Pullman City Fun Park offers a large variety of non-violent Western activities for the whole family: Western shows, Native American dances, magic shows, and much more. The whole show program is online but only in German. Opening times: mid-April - 31 Oct. 2012, daily from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Admission (only GE): Adults, 13 euros. Children 4 - 16 years old, 7 euros. Children under 4 are free if accompanied by a parent.

Family ticket (2 adults + 2 children under 16): 29 euros. Dogs on a leash, 1 euro. Visitors dressed in historical Western costumes (representing ca. 1740 - 1880) get in for free! Outside the open season you can access the premises for free but there will be no shows or other entertainment.

Citizens Fest: Zwiebeltreter-Fest (Onion Fest) 14 - 16 Sept: in 96052 Bamberg, on the Böhmerwiese, Heiliggrabstraße 57. The fest begins Friday at 4 p.m. with a gun salute, to be followed by lots of scrumptious delicacies (most, but not all, made with onions, of course), live music, and child care. The kids can get rid of their energy on an inflatable jumping castle, or try a hand in building (child-friendly) scarecrows or onion chains. And if the guys get bored, they can stroll over to the classic vehicle corner and have a look at the old automobiles and tractors. You can find more details in German on their website.

Weiden"Herbstfest" 15 Sept: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., in 92637 Weiden, all around the Altstadt aka old city. Various activities for children and adults are going on in the city center, including a Kinder-Flohmarkt. Special sales in and in front of stores will be available. The focus this year is "Bavaria and France". Click for a map of suggested car parks.

Summer Ice-Skating 15 Sept: 1 - 3 p.m., in 90471 Nürnberg, at the Arena, Kurt-Leucht-Weg 11, ph 0911-9889-7280. The official ice-skating season doesn't start until 22 Sep, but the organizers offer a few dates to "try out the ice" before then, and 15 Sept. is the last day to do it. Admission is 3 euros per adult, children under 4 are free. Ice skates can be rented at the venue. Due to

the difficult parking situation, it is highly recommended you take the train into Nürnberg. See the tips on the first page of this document.

Bergfests usually originate from pilgrimages and are still related to religious traditions. They are always celebrated at a church on a hill. On certain days, for example holidays dedicated to the Virgin Mother Mary, people pilgrimage there for devotion, holy mass, and invocation and thanksgiving prayers. Because of the large amount of people and the long distances they came from, the believers needed food and beverages. A holy mass service initiates the Bergfest and is offered daily. There is no music and entertainment, no carnival rides or other amusement. But nevertheless, Bergfests are still very popular by young and old people. Indulge yourself and spend your time outdoors, admire the surrounding area with its colorful meadows. Let the flair of a Bergfest inspire you. Enjoy the delicious Bavarian culinary specialties. The Amberg Farmers Market, which takes place every Friday, always sets up a special Thanksgiving market towards the end of September. Solderstraße / Gaußstraße. From here, the U-Bahn (underground) will take you to the city center in just four minutes. Exit either at "Rathaus“ or "Fürth Hauptbahnhof“. The P+R car park has 78 spaces, 2 of which are for handicapped. If you park there between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., you will not be charged for the first four hours. Parking in excess of four hours costs 1.50 Euros total for the whole day ("Tagespauschale"). You can reach the P+R car park from the B8 (Würzburger Straße) when you drive in the "Stadtmitte" (city center) direction, then turn right at Soldnerstraße and continue to corner Gaußstraße.

For one week, Schwandorf will pay homage to apples - and not just the ones that grow on trees: Erdäpfel = earth apples (potatoes) are on the menu as well. The festitivites (only GE) begin on Sat. with a big fashion show at the Oberpfalzhalle (Schwimmbadstraße 4) in the evening. Sunday is the day for gourmands: local restaurants will offer scrumptious special dishes with apples and apple products. Monday is "Ruhetag", with no activities. Tuesday is the day of "show cooking": star chef Hubert Obendorfer will come to the kitchen stores "Mega-Küchen Uschold" and "Küchen Hochmuth" between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and give tips and advice on how to make delicious dishes for you and your whole family.

Wednesday will be a day of culture, with readings, presentations and guided tours.

Thursday you can join in a "Apfel-Rallye" between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., which will take you from store to store to find attractions and special deals. The last day is full of high aspirations: local bakers will attempt to bake the largest Apfelkuchen (German apple pie) to get into the Guiness Book of World Records. In addition, you're invited to the Stadtpark (city park) for a camp fire and freshly roasted Erdäpfel (potatoes). Saturday then is just another shopping day with special sales.

Guided Segway Tours 23 Sept: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., of 92249 Vilseck. As part of a special program during the Herbstmarkt street market, Vilseck will offer three guided tours on a Segway, Americans are very welcome. Language will not be a problem as the guide speaks English, and the focus is not on a city tour but on riding the Segway. Only participants who hold a valid car or motorcycle / Mofa driver's license will be accepted! Meet in the courtyard of the Dagestein castle where you will be given an introduction first. The tour then takes you on cycle tracks towards Axtheid-Berg, further towards Schlicht and around the Schnellweiher (pond). Tours are scheduled for 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 2 p.m.

Andy Warhol Exhibit - The Art of Pop Through 26 Sept: in 92224 Amberg, in the Amberg Congress Center (ACC) at Schießstätteweg 8, CIV 09621-49000. This is next to the indoor swimming pool and the large car park. Over 100 works from the Pop-Art icon are on show.

Along with his famous paintings like Marilyn Monroe's portrait or the Campbell soup cans, you will find some of his early

works (which have never been shown in Europe before), personal accessories, numerous photographs, originals from his "Interview" magazine, and information about his Slovakian family background as well as his friendship with John Lennon.

Organized by the Türkischer Verein, 09431-20435. A wonderful opportunity to get to know about the Turkish culture: sample their foods and drinks, watch their traditional dances, and get your kids involved in their typical children's games. Open Sat. 1 - 8 p.m.; Sun. 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

"Erntedank / Tag der Regionen" (Thanksgiving / Regional Day) 30 Sept: 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.: in 92266 Ensdorf, at the Monastery ("Kloster Ensdorf") on Hauptstraße 9 (ca. 28 km / 17 miles north of Hohenfels). Although this is an outdoor market, some of the stalls will be set up in the cloister for protection from possible inclement weather. Special entertainment for children will also be provided. The day begins with a special Thanksgiving church service. Then the stalls will open, offering high-quality regional products to include food, art and culture.

Tradition: Erntedank-Fest = German Thanksgiving 30 Sept: in 92363 Breitenbrunn, Marktplatz (ca. 27 km / 17 miles SW of Hohenfels). Program: 9:45 a.m.: Star procession to the church. 10 a.m.: Festive church service with Father Konrad Weber. 1 p.m.: Parade through the market town, accompanied by richly adorned horses and carriages.

Classic Cars 30 Sept: 2 p.m., in Mönchsondheim at the Kirchenburgmuseum (museum, only GE), An der Kirchenburg 5, 09326-1224 (part of 97346 Iphofen, ca. 11 km / 7 miles SE of Kitzingen). The drivers are coming from neighboring Marktbreit, where they will depart at around 1:30 p.m. They will display their beautiful vintage vehicles here at the castle. It’s a great opportunity to shoot lots of photos and have a little chat with the drivers.

The items are from a private collection that was started over 30 years ago. The signs all focus on travelling and will take you to countries far away - the old style. Dahlia Madness Through 3 Oct: on the Isle of Mainau (78465) in the Bodensee (Lake Constance).

The sight of over 12,000 (!) beautiful dahlias in over 250 different species will leave you in awe! You have a chance to select your favourite species, too. The isle is open from sunrise to sunset but the exhibits (museum in the palace, butterfly show, etc.) won't open until 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. respectively.

Although the Bodensee is a bit far from Northern Bavaria (i.e., on the Swiss border), it's certainly worth the trip. While you're in the area, why not visit the "Pfahlbauten-Museum" (Lake Dwelling Museum) in Unteruhldingen on Strandpromenade 6 (part of 88690 Uhldingen-Mühlhofen)? Dive into the mysterious world of farmers, fishermen, and brass founders of the Stone Age 6000

There are tours in German which start at 6 p.m., and also in English, starting at 7 p.m. If you click in the link and scroll down, you can watch a 5-minute promo clip for the executioner's tour (in English but with a lovely Franconian accent). The clip shows some interesting hidden places that you normally don't get to see.

Every Wed. and Sat: 1:30 p.m.: Guided Tour of Regensburg, in English - "Experience a Historical City" In the course of this individually accented tour you get to know the Old City, with its patrician towered houses, the cathedral, the Old City Hall (all from the outside), the Stone Bridge and the Porta Praetoria. Closest free car parks are "Dultplatz" (Am Protzenweiher/ Oberpfalzbrücke); adjacent "Protzenweiher" (opposite Protzenweiher 27); neighbouring "Wöhrdstraße" (at Wöhrdstraße 18); and adjacent "Unterer Wöhrd" (Wöhrdstraße 60/62). There is also the "Donaumarkt" parking lot (Donaumarkt 1) which is "a walk across the bridge" closer than the "Wöhrdstraße" car park, but it's not free-of-charge, and it's blocked on Saturday mornings for the Regensburg produce market. From any of these car parks it's only a very short walk across one of the bridges, and you're there. BTW, did you know you can get a map of Regensburg's city center from the Tourist Info for free? Go to the "Altes Rathaus" (old city hall) as directed by the brown signs, and ask for a copy.

Every Saturday: 1 p.m. Guided Tour of 97070 Würzburg in English Your stroll starts at the Falkenhaus (location of the Tourist Info, ph 0931-372-398) with its elaborate Rococo facade, followed by a visit to the Marienkapelle (St. Mary's Chapel) featuring sandstone sculptures by Tilman Riemenschneider.

Other highlights include the historical town hall building and the Romanesque cathedral "St. Kilian". From the bridge Alte Mainbrücke, you can enjoy fantastic views of the fortress Marienberg, the pilgrimage church Käppele and the famous vineyards. Tour lasts around 1.5 hrs, tickets cost 6 Euros per adult. Between 7 May and 29 October, additional English tours are held every Friday at 1 p.m.

Every Saturday: 2 p.m. Guided Tour in English of Albrecht Dürer's House in Nürnberg’s historical city center, AlbrechtDürer-Straße 39 (in the pedestrian zone). Admission is 5 Euros (normal), 2.50. Euros (reduced) Famous painter Albrecht Dürer lived in Nürnberg (1471 – 1528) – you might know him best for his “Praying Hands” –, and his original residence in Nürnberg’s pretty city center has been converted to a museum. Every Saturday, an actress in historical gowns offers guided tours of the house in English, telling its history from the viewpoint of Dürer's wife Agnes.

Every Saturday: 3 p.m. Guided Tour in English of the Church of St. Jacob's in 91541 Rothenburg.

A public and free tour in English of the famous StJakobs-Kirche (church). You only pay the entrance fee for the church: 2 Euros for adults; 0.50 Euros for students, pupils; groups from 10 person: 1.50 Euros. No reservation necessary! Duration: ca. 45 minutes. Meeting Point: front row inside the church.

Every Saturday: 8 p.m. Guided Tour in English with the Night-Watchman in 91541 Rothenburg on Marktplatz = Market Place. Take a walk back in time with the Night-watchman through the romantically-lit streets of Rothenburg.

Meeting point is on Market Square, the tour lasts about 60 minutes. Fee is 7 Euros per person, payable in cash to the Night-watchman.
