What you need to know about Foreign Travel The time is upon us to get out and explore, but did you know that if you are Military or a DoD employee there are limits to where you can go? Have you ever wanted to go see the pyramids of Egypt – sorry, it’s not authorized for all military and DoD civilian personnel right now. Maybe you want to golf in Dubai – you may be able to do it, but you’re going to have to complete some additional paperwork and be approved by an O-6 before you can go! Before making your travel plans, if
you are a Service member or a DOD/DA civilian, you need to check the DoD Electronic Foreign Clearance Guide here. Failure to adhere to the FCG may lead to disappointment, lost ticket costs, and maybe even your career. If you have a clearance, you are also required to contact your S2/Security Manager to receive a Foreign Travel Briefing and let them know about your travel plans.
