What is the Sensor Used in your Mercedes

Page 1

Every make and model of the Mercedes have multiple sensors for performing different functions as well as running the car smoothly.

The sensors of the Mercedes acts as a computer brain for keeping its functions, indicating the issues and help you to communicate inside the car easily.

There are several kinds of sensors are available in the Mercedes which can be found in the glove compartments.

Finding the exact information about the uses of a sensor in a Mercedes is very difficult. So, you need to collect information about the sensor before using them.

So, below you will find a list of sensors used in your Mercedes and their purpose of using in your car.

Oxygen sensor

The oxygen sensor is also known as an O2 sensor in your car and plays an important role for the proper functioning of the Mercedes.

It is generally used for measuring the amount of unburned or unused oxygen leaving the exhaust pipe and provide the reading of fuel mixtures.

If you find that the fuel mixture is burning lean, then make sure that more oxygen is mixed with the fuel.

When the fuel is burning rich, then there is less oxygen in the fuel mixture. So, provide proper amount of fuel and oxygen mixture to the engine to function it smoothly.

Coolant sensor

The coolant sensors are used for keeping the track of the engine temperature and take the reading from the engine thermostat.

It can send the gathered information to the car's computer and keep the temperature down. In this way, it can adjust the engine functions.

When the temperature of the engine is high, your car turn on the cooling fan to adjust it. The coolant sensor also maintains the exhaust gas circulations.

Without a well functioning coolant sensor, your car can lead to overheating, cause major engine problems and illuminating the check engine light.

Fuel temperature sensor

The fuel temperature sensor determines the temperature of the fuel, keep the fuel temperature monitored and allow the car to consume a proper amount of fuel.

If the fuel temperature is cool, then it will consume less fuel by the engine due to the slow burning. But the hot fuel temperature will burn the fuel faster.

In this way, the fuel temperature sensor determine the amount of fuel needed to pump the engine for driving the car smoothly.

When the fuel temperature sensor of the Mercedes is damaged, then it is unable to determine the proper amount of fuel needed by the engine and lead to engine wear down.

Final words

Besides it, there are other several sensors works in your Mercedes to make your drive smoother and comfortable.

If you found any issues in any of the sensors of your Mercedes, then take your car to a Mercedes mechanic to sort out the issues easily.
