Integrated hybrid systems

Integrated hybrid systems Baxi, since long market leader in heating and home comfort systems, has widened its offer proposing integrated hybrid systems which combine heating technologies and energy sources to provide energy efficient complete integrated systems. Baxi’s proposal of integrated hybrid systems is now enhanced by new solutions to grant high energy efficiency and low pollutant emissions compared to the best solutions present on the market (with comparable performances). The new system Luna Platinum CSI has been developed to integrate various technologies (solar system, water/air heat pump, gas condensing boiler) with water production for heating, DHW and cooling during the summer.

Why choosing an integrated hybrid system?

2

1. maximum efficiency in primary energy (lower consumption and lower pollutant emissions)

4. lower aesthetic impact and lower noise: the external unit of the heat pump has been sized according to base loads (single fan model).

2. maximum energy cost savings: the integrated system works with renewable energies (solar, outside air)

5. installation flexibility: two sizes (6-8 kW) of heat pumps and highest modulation rate (3,3 - 33 kW) for condensing boiler, to meet all installation needs in new and existing buildings. Moreover, the system can be installed even though it is not possible to have the solar collectors on the roof (existing buildings).

3. maximum comfort always granted: in case of unfavourable outside weather conditions, the condensing gas boiler works when the renewable energies do not supply the heat demanded. The maximum comfort (DHW production, heating and cooling) is always ensured throughout the year and in the most efficient way.

6. best rank under Energy Performance of the building 7.

lower environmental impact

GAC: Gas adaptive control Luna Platinum is provided with a brand new system GAC (Gas Adaptive Control): the new control electronics together with the new gas valve grant an automatic control of the combustion and ensure the following advantages during the installation as well as for the end user: •

Reduction of the time for the installation, as any manual intervention has been deleted (adjustment or nozzles change);

The boiler is able to adapt to the quality of the gas and to the length of the flue tubes maintaining a constant efficiency;

The boiler regulates constantly to maintain the maximum efficiency values helping a reduction of the gas consumption and generating less pollution thanks to the continue control of the emissions;

Modulation 1:10: efficiency and saving (Platinum) The aim of a boiler is to heat rooms to maintain the maximum comfort conditions: it means bringing to places through the system the same heat that the building wastes. In new buildings regulations demand always a better insulation and consequently less waste of energy. In existing buildings, a low heat demand is a typical condition during mid seasons, like in spring and early autumn. Discontinuous processing creates waste of energy (on-off of the boilers), so that the modulation system of Luna Platinum ( wide modulation ratio up to a minimum output of 2 kW for 1.18 model) is able to adapt the heat output to the energy demanded by the building. Duo-tec range has a modulation ratio 1:7.

20/20/20: The Legislation context in Europe It’s commonly known that half the energy consumption in Europe comes from fossil fuels, and that the energy produced in this way causes high emissions of CO2, that is the greenhouse gas known as the main responsible of our planet climatic change.

At present the European Commission is working to implement the 2005/32/CE EUP Directive about products that use energy. We will have the products labelling in the different system configurations, to set the best global efficiency of the heating systems.

Since 1997 the CEE, with the Kyoto Protocol, engaged to reduce the energy demand and, as a consequence, the greenhouse gas emissions, putting in use measures to motivate energy saving and efficiency optimization in all sectors interested in energy consumption. The European Commission launched a new campaign for the energy efficiency use with the proposal to reduce of the 20% the annual primary energy consumption, and so enhancing the renewable energies use up to the 20%. These target shall be archived within the year 2020.

Integrated Systems The Heating and DHW system evolution The law evolution in Europe, together with the technological product innovation, pushes designers and installers to think system solutions more and more innovative and highly efďŹ cient. In this catalogue Baxi presents some cases describing the installation evolution for buildings with one, two or more living units.

The fast market evolution leads to a growing complexity and to more competitive scenarios. The market request is evolving from a product to a system demand for an efďŹ cient heating of the building. Baxi pays attention to the market trends and proposes some solutions, according to a system approach, adding a service value for the customer.

• Wide range: collectors from 2 to 2,5 m2 for horizontal or vertical installation • Installation flexibility: the collectors can be installed in the roof ( built-in installation) or on tiles • Easy and quick installation: in case you have a pitched roof, the installation of any collector is easy as there is a unique accessory that can be used for any slope of the roof and for any height of the tiles • Enhanced reliability to face bad weather conditions: the glass is fixed on a groove with gasket, no cracks in the angles • High performance: increased absorbing surface- smaller frame • Reflection free glass on SB25 models • Meander pipes : for a better heat transmission that means high efficiency. This kind of structure allows a bigger installation flexibility with many collectors in a row • Easy and quick hydraulic connections, with 4 joints for each collector to optimize the hydraulic connection and to allow the installation of many collectors in a row • Reduced load losses • 40 mm distance between the collectors: connections with a wrinkled pipe to absorb expansions and tolerances of the installation • Design: the collectors have been developed with a particular attention to the design: all the devices for the connection can not be seen from outside; an elegant aesthetics suitable for any kind of roof; the same colour for the profile and the covering
