“
FASHION TO A TEA” was the theme of this year’s always popular Nassau Bay Garden Club style show luncheon at Lakewood Yacht Club, with a dozen pretty models showing off fashions from Janette Faulker’s A Unique Boutique. It also was a great time to see old friends for the first time in a long time because of the pandemic, which led to the style show’s year delay. And smiles? Almost everyone wore one as Co-Chairmen Rhonda Davis and Royce Walker greeted the happy crowd. Led by President Becky Kadel, this group of ladies is probably the hardest working garden club in the Bay Area. They don’t just meet and talk about flowers and plants, they help clean up city parks, support a variety of events such as Arbor Day and Beautification Day – whatever they can do to make their city sparkle.

Jayne Sampson, left, and Kathryn Gehbauer arrive at Lakewood Yacht Club to model in the Nassau Bay Garden Club’s popular biennial style show.
After lunch they put on their biennial fashion show, which featured a number of well known models – Judge Holly Williamson, Assistant City Manager Mary Chambers, City Councilors Ashley Graves, and Sandy Mossman, and former Clear Creek ISD Trustee Win Weber, who joined Kathryn Gehbauer, Angela Braun, Jayne Samson, Christine Reynolds, Diana Clark, Beth Ann Maxwell and Ashleigh Klug in showing off a variety of seasonal fashions. Among those assisting the co-chairmen with the event were Nassau Bay First Lady Sue Warters, Betty Armstrong, Priss Fletcher, Ann Gay, Cherry Nims, Joyce Mayor, Angela Braun, Christina Jordan, Gail Beasley, Ann Davidson, Beth Ann Maxwell, Jayne Samson, Christina Jordan, and Richard Armstrong. Special guests included Mayor Bob Warters, Mayor Pro-tem Don Matter, and City Manager Jason Reynolds.

T’S B-A-C-K! Yes, after a pandemic pause, Clear Lake Area Panhellenic will host is its 35th Annual Fashion Show on Friday, Nov. 5 at South Shore Harbour Resort in League City, starting at 10:30 a.m., and the community is invited to join the fun. Chairman Wendy Shaw and Co-Chairman Karen Weber tell us the theme this year will be “Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams!” as they raise funds for the Crawford-Zbanek Foundation, a 501(c)(3), which awards scholarships to local women pursuing a college education in Texas and also sends girls representing area high schools to Girls State. “We are excited to have, once again, the fabulous fashion show producer, Lenny Matuszewski Jr. and his incredible staff, dazzle our audience with an amazing fashion show. We will be showing off the latest stylish fashions from
Dillard’s,” Wendy said, adding, “We will welcome the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Clear Lake Edition, where we will celebrate Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams.” “Besides the raffle, silent auction, and live auction, we have added some special details to the event this year which are sure to make it unforgettable! Prepare to be transported, for one afternoon, into an atmosphere where you leave your worries at the door and take in the successes and achievements of life! Raising funds through this event is even more important this year, since the event last year was forced to be canceled.” Sponsorship, underwriting, advertising and donation opportunities are available.
