Being cooped up inside this past year has forced us to modify our workouts. Coming this summer you can stop ‘climbing the walls’ at home and venture out to ‘climb the walls’ at Elev8 Climbing + Fitness. Elev8 is a 10,600-square-foot, full-service facility being built from the ground up and will offer 6,000 square feet, standing 45 foot high of climbing surface. A mezzanine overlooks the climbing “mountain” with a fitness space for group classes, free weights and cardio. “We see it as a playful place, friends, community all having fun,” says coowner Nick Olson.

His best bud, Kevin Vlach and founder of Elev8, adds, “Our facility has been built with a central focus on safety, community and growth. We aspire to have our top-tier climbing and fitness facility engage the area youth, be a healthy gathering space for families, promote inclusion and camaraderie, and act as the region’s hub for outdoor enthusiasts by actively building community, providing quality climbing experiences and teaching environmental stewardship.” Both Kevin and Nick were born and raised in Traverse City, moved away and are now back. Ready to make their mark and excited to be an integral part of the 8th Street ‘Health and Fitness Corridor,’ flanked by bike shops, the Tart Trail and the Boardman River. Elev8climbing.com
