Giving Priorities Baylor raises funds in several categories... The Annual Fund serves as the cornerstone of Baylor’s fundraising
program. We encourage all of our alumni and parents to make a gift each year. Gifts to the annual fund are used for Baylor’s operating budget and are automatically directed to the area of greatest need. The Baylor Backers program provides additional support for arts and
athletics programs. Capital Gifts support the maintenance and renewal of Baylor’s facilities
and 690-acre campus. Endowment Gifts provide long-term funding of programs and facilities.
Baylor’s endowment is managed by a committee of the board in consultation with nationally and internationally known finance experts. Planned and Estate Gifts allow donors to realize significant tax savings
while creating a legacy for future generations.
Types of Donations Gifts of Cash
Checks, credit cards, or wire transfer. Gifts of Appreciated Property
You may make gifts of appreciated stock, mutual funds, or real estate and take an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift. When Baylor sells the property, all capital gains taxes that would have been owed on the sale are avoided. Bequests/Living Trusts
Gifts of this nature allow donors to give a specific dollar amount, a percentage of their estate, or the residuary (the remainder after specific bequests are fulfilled) to Baylor in the will or living trust. IRA/Retirement Assets
You may make Baylor the full or partial beneficiary of an IRA or other tax advantaged retirement plan and avoid income taxes that may be charged to the estate based on its account value. Life Income Gifts
Charitable Remainder Trusts and charitable Gift Annuities can provide current tax advantages while providing a donor or a donor’s loved ones with income for a designated period of time or for life.
