THE BAYLOR DIFFERENCE
ATHLETICS
UP YOUR GAME Baylor offers 17 sports, and we field 74 teams in grades 6-12.
Our athletes train to win, but they also commit to the development of character, life skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
You will compete and train in exceptional facilities. Baylor offers every student the opportunity to train and compete in facilities that rival or eclipse those of most college campuses.
THE BAYLOR AQUATIC CENTER is undeniably one of the best in the nation. The field house contains three basketball courts that provide versatility by converting to volleyball, badminton, and fencing areas. The complex also features weight rooms, a cardio room, a running track, equipment rooms, an athletic training room and a stadium seated video room. Along with a historic but updated basketball arena, the facility houses a spacious wrestling arena for practice and competition.
The Von D. Oehmig Sports Performance Center provides space and equipment for elite varsity athletic training. Along with strength training equipment on par with equipment offered at the top college and university programs, the center includes an artificial turf surface for indoor practices in all sports. With ample square footage and
quantities of equipment, Baylor athletes spend their time training, not waiting while teammates finish training. Combined with a highly qualified and certified strength and conditioning coaching staff, the Oehmig Center is foundational to the success of Baylor athletes and athletic programs.
HEYWOOD STADIUM + MORE Other areas include the Heywood football stadium with a seven-lane track and artificial turf, three baseball fields, a softball diamond, a dedicated lacrosse field with an artificial turf, a soccer complex that includes a stadium with a grass field and one field with the latest in artificial surfaces, a cross-country course that winds through the woods and along the river, eight indoor and 16 outdoor tennis courts. A short-game practice center for golf is also located on campus.
Location, location, location.
It’s hard to beat 690-acres along the Tennessee River. And the mild climate of East Tennessee provides boarding students from colder climates of the northeast and other countries to train and compete in much longer seasons.
