A.W.A.R.E. The Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere (A.W.A.R.E.) is a new student group at Bay. Our goal is to support Bay students who identify as White to take steps towards becoming antiracist by exploring our own racial identity, learning to effectively and compassionately interrupt racist acts, and supporting movements for racial justice. Through group discussions, guest speakers, community partnerships, and other resources, we hope to offer tools for personal and collective growth. We are working to make this a judgment-free space for questions, mistakes, and learning. Topics will include: how to have uncomfortable conversations, how to be a white ally, racism and white supremacy culture at Bay, cancel culture and social media, intersectionality, and more!
ANIMAL AWARENESS The mission of Animal Awareness is to help support animal shelters and educate the Bay community about inadequate circumstances that animals are being put into. We hope to empower students to get involved in their communities by volunteering and raising funds for certain animal rights organizations. Everyone is welcome! Activities include learning about animal abuse, volunteering at local animal shelters, writing letters to both animal rights organizations and organizations that animal test, watching educational videos, as well as planning outings and events.

ART CLUB Art club is a space for artists to cultivate their work, aesthetic, and passion in an open and supportive group. This club will motivate young artists to try new things, take risks, and share their work while fostering a tight-knit community. We will provide a mixture of fun, low-stakes activities in different mediums,
make exhibits in public spaces, lead workshops, and plan group outings to museums and other relevant locations. A typical meeting consists of a group check-in, time to work on personal projects, group activities (such as workshops, preparations for upcoming exhibitions, constructive critiques of each other's work, etc.). We hope to see you there!
ASIAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION* (Thursday, July 2nd at 2:30pm) - Contact Jaxon L for more information
AASU strives to give Asian Americans a safe place to talk about their experiences of being a minority both at school and in America. That means that we have discussions about issues within our community and current events to both give a voice to those in our club and an ability to inform those in our community about the aspects that make us Asian American. During clubs periods, we play games and do fun bonding activities, allowing people in the club to feel like they are in a safe space to share concerns.
ASTRONOMY CLUB
(Mondays at 1:30pm) - Contact David F-H for more information
Astronomy Club creates a space (get it?) for students who are interested in astronomy and any related topics to get together and learn something each week. Additionally, the club provides the opportunity for any Bay students to travel to the observatory in Groveland to take their own pictures of the night sky. Astro Club meetings will be focused on delving deeply into astronomical topics through lessons and discussions taught by our club sponsor or one of our members. We will also devote time to preparing for Astro Trips as well as processing the data that we gather there.
BAY FOODIES Our goal is to provide Bay School students with a wide variety of delicious food and baked goods to bring joy to their school day, broaden their culinary horizons, explore other cultures through food, and build community through food. Meetings consist of members or leaders bringing in a dish or more commonly ingredients for a dish (or treat), then we make the dish or treat and eat it together! We, of course, clean up after.

The student-led Bay school paper allows students to share their voice as well as offers a fun place to learn more about Bay and the larger community. This club will allow students to take initiative by researching, interviewing, and writing articles about subjects they are most interested in— any level of commitment is valuable! The Bay school paper consists of articles about Bay life, communities outside of Bay, fun crosswords and comics, and contributions from other clubs. This paper will be published online once a month. During typical club meetings, we meet to discuss the progress of the paper, address any questions or concerns that are coming up, and eat oreos together once we are back at school. Finally, we work to further the Bay School’s mission of inclusivity and honesty as well as being a judgment-free zone for people to be creative and make new friends (all opinions are welcome!) We hope you chose to join our Bay Riptide Family.
CHESS CLUB Simple to learn but impossible to master, chess has been a symbolic part of and enjoyed by human society for centuries. Chess Club is centered around playing and understanding the game, while connecting with other people. Open to all skill levels, a typical meeting will involve some casual games, lessons, and on occasion, a tournament.
CLASSICAL MUSIC CLUB The Classical Music Club is a space for new and experienced musicians alike to play classical music together, learn new pieces, and have fun in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. All instruments are welcome! Typical meetings will be mostly playing, practicing, and learning music (selected by the group), and might also include some listening to professional musicians or technique discussions. Classical Music Club gives opportunities to more students to play music with others and improve in a super supportive atmosphere.
DANCE CLUB Our mission is to provide a safe environment and community for students to express themselves in movement. We hope that people will push themselves outside of their comfort zone resulting in growth in confidence in who they are and how they move about the world. Club meetings consist of having discussions and checkins to feel the mood of the class, a warm-up, and then segue into a choreography/combo. Some days we will choreograph as a class or freestyle.
DIGITAL & STYLIZED ART CLUB Our goal is to create a space for people interested in the world of digital art to work together. Whether experienced in the ways of digital design and using the Adobe suite or not, we cater to all skill and experience levels. Typical club
meetings consist of learning techniques, working on solo projects, and critiquing each other's work. Occasionally we watch animated films and learn from them, brainstorm project ideas, and learn about building a portfolio or online presence.
EARTH CLUB

Earth Club is a place for any student who is interested in learning about the earth, environment, and climate change. In this club we will prepare, attend, and talk about climate strikes, have speakers, watch climate-related movies, do activities related to the earth and climate change, as well as helping to make the school more green. This club can help students who care about the environment do something about their passion and also learn new things. Also, we will have the best snacks! If this sounds interesting to you, come check a meeting out. We would love to have you in our club!
ENGINEERING/ROV CLUB Engineering/ROV Club’s mission is to try to get Bay students more experience in the engineering field. While our major project is to build/modify and subaqueous ROV each year, we also work on other hands-on passion projects outside of club time. This club makes sure it is very equitable in teaching members with less experience more about soldering and robotics basics, while experienced members can spend more time designing/tinkering. In a typical meeting, we will bring out the ROV fiddle around with it to see what is working well and what is not working, then brainstorm solutions and fix the problems we encounter. We try to get out a few times a year to a pool of a Bay student to test the ROV.
GIRL CHAT* Girl Chat strives to create a safe community for female-identified students to voice opinions, concerns, and create bonds with new people in different grades. In a typical meeting, we have a casual conversation between the club members and leaders where anyone may pose a question to the group. Topics can be small things such as personal check-ins or larger issues such as female societal pressures. Some examples of the topics we have covered include peer pressure, body image, substances, birth control, and relationships. Girl Chat is a space where our members are comfortable sharing their experiences and learning from others’.
GLEE/A CAPPELLA CLUB Glee/A Cappella Club strives to bring together a group of students who love music and singing and allow them a space to express their creative energy. A typical meeting starts with warm-ups followed by work on the current song(s) that we are doing. We also play fun singing and music games!
IMPROV CLUB Improv Club is a group that will be a fun source of artistic expression. Our goal is to help develop theater-related skills (public speaking, quick thinking, and humor) in a fun environment led mostly by peers. Another end goal I have is to possibly perform at Arts Night to showcase a more light-hearted and student-led side of Bay performance art. A typical meeting consists of playing improvisational games and doing scenes, and member input will heavily determine the direction of the group in terms of skill-building and scene work.

JAZZ CLUB Jazz Club is where students who love music get together to play jazz, improve their skills, and have fun. We also perform at the Open Houses and several offsite events to build our repertoire while strengthening both community and teamwork in the band. LITZINE
(Fridays at 1:30pm) - Contact LitZine for more information
The mission of the LitZine is to provide a space where writers, artists, and creative thinkers can see their work published. Students will work together to create a series of publications encompassing a range of media such as creative writing, drawing, comics, and zines. During club meetings, we plan to both work on pieces as well as assemble the upcoming issue. We hope to inspire and motivate literary and art lovers, as well as provide valuable journalistic experience to those who want to take part in creating and publishing magazines. Find any of these ideas appealing? Please stop by! Non-member and anonymous submissions are also welcome!
MAHJONG CLUB

explaining the rules/history of the game, then most periods will consist of playing the game and potentially holding an all-school tournament.

The Math Club provides an opportunity for students interested in mathematics to expand their understanding and background. MODEL UNITED NATIONS (Thursday,
July 9th from 4:30-5pm) - Contact Ginger T for
more information
Model UN’s mission is to create a place for constructive debate, as well empowering our members with leadership skills like effective public speaking and group management. These two ideas are supported by the actual activity of Model UN, in which participants try to come up with detailed and extensive solutions to global and local issues. Instead of simply asking: “what is wrong?” when confronted by an issue, one will learn to ask “what is wrong and how can it be fixed?”. Along with promoting the skills of Model UN, we also act as a team, creating an atmosphere where club members can rely on one another. For dedicated club members, we send teams to multiple Model UN conferences every year.
OUTDOORS CLUB The Outdoors Club strives to educate the community in outdoor topics as well as get people outside in a variety of adventures. Topics of education include building and learning wilderness skills, Leave No Trace principles, sustainability, climate change, and new developments in green fields. Experiences range from gardening, day hiking, nature meditation, camping, rafting, snowshoeing, and more, to volunteering to restore habitat, clean beaches, plant trees, and learning more about sustainability and ecology through events around the Bay Area. As a club, we promote and teach outdoors safety and environmental stewardship; are environmentally conscious and work to make all of Bay conscious and intentional; increase awareness of the richness, interconnectedness, and fragility of the natural world; are committed to making a sustainable world; expose the community to the beauty and natural diversity of the State of California; foster confident leaders, wise risk-takers, and responsible teammates; and promote strong and healthy bonds between students from all grades and experience levels.
QUEERS & ALLIES* Queers & Allies is a safe space for queer students to come together to discuss issues and matters about what it means to be an LGBTQIA+ member of Bay and of the larger community. Q&A gives students the opportunity to talk about matters that
may not be as relevant to or understood by straight/cisgender members of Bay. We realize not everywhere is as accepting as Bay and San Francisco. By creating Q&A, we hope to give students a chance to form a strong sense of self and self-love before moving on to assume their place in the world.
STEMINIST CLUB
(Monday, June 29th at 12pm) - Contact Estella R for more
information
The goal of STEMinist club is to promote women’s interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and to educate the Bay community about inequities in STEM fields. This will be a place where we focus on different topics in STEM fields and do fun experiments and activities. Examples of activities include hearing from guest speakers who work in STEM, completing engineering design challenges, learning about the science behind everyday activities like cooking, and optional field trips. The club will also be a safe space to discuss challenges people may face in STEM. A typical STEMinist Club meeting could look like many different things! Last year, we had three guest speakers from three different fields of STEM. We did tons of fun experiments and enjoyed learning about the "Why" behind them. We did many engineering and teamwork design challenges such as an egg drop. We watched TED talks and had discussions about how to make STEM more inclusive both within Bay and in the larger world. This year, we hope to do all of this and more!

YEARBOOK (Tuesday,
July 7th at 12:30pm) - Contact Cole S for more information
Use state of the art design and publishing software to construct the Bay School yearbook. Learn to communicate with different members of the community in order to acquire a variety of information and material that will be used in the yearbook. Students will organize and supplement photos of virtually every aspect of day to day operations, as well as selecting and editing photos that have already been taken over the entire school year. Themes are decided on and reinforced through font, layout, and design. Students become an essential member of a collaborative effort that reaches beyond the Bay School community for years to come.
