Ican’t believe I’m saying this but I just made my very own apple jam and citrus marmalade, all thanks to the BBC Good Food ME. I went into it thinking it would be a hard and tedious job. To my surprise, it was extremely easy and fun to make with my children. The instructions were very clear to follow. The jams tasted absolutely sublime and incredibly fresh compared to the store-bought version. The great thing about both these recipes is that it’s vegan and gluten-free. It’s a great pairing with my toast every morning and is an absolute hit at my place.

This month’s issue has quite a few things to like, especially the simple and quick recipes. But what caught my attention the most was Cheering on Chana. As an Asian, I have grown up eating chana in different forms. Be it roasted black chana, aloo chana, chana dal or chana chat. I loved how our everyday staple food was featured with simple yet refreshing recipes. Apart from that, I must say that the soups ideas literally had me craving soups. Love it!

I loved the healthier baking ideas. I’ve just bought myself a Kenwood Chef and have become the dessert person for all our BBQs. There are only so many times you can get away with taking a pavlova or a lemon tart though! I’m always looking for new baking recipes that are healthy/vegan/ gluten-free options, to help make dessert available for everyone. I’ll be giving the sugar-free lemon drizzle cake a whirl this weekend!
