In January, At Home has recently launched their ecommerce online buying and pickup in stores in Dallas-Fort Worth and a few other markets (Halkias, 2019). At Home plans to open five California stores in Orange County's Foothill Ranch. It's mission is to provide assortment of products for every budget from coast to coast. ?We are thrilled to bring our home dĂŠcor superstore concept to California and to open the first of many future stores in the state,? said Lee Bird, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of At Home (Marin, 2019). In October, At Home reported that they have lost about 13.9% of their stock shares since the last earnings report from the month prior. The ongoing competitor liquidations, and uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic and elections may weigh on its future results. At Home projects seasonal inventory to decline 20% and 10% in the fiscal third and fourth quarters, respectively (Zacks Equity Research, 2020).
E-Commerce & Digital Strategies: At Home strategies and partnered up with PICKUP to offer contactless next-day, local delivery for all At Home's products. It would minimizes the spread of COVID and let their consumer continue to shop without leaving their home or car (Marin, 2020) Home delivery is the next phase in the acceleration of At Home?s omnichannel strategy. At Home rolled out a buy-online-pickup-in-store pilot to 28 stores this past January, with initial plans to expand to more markets later in the year (Marin, 2020b). The company has now expedited the expansion of these capabilities to reach over 100 stores in April, as allowed by local and state mandates. In addition, as previously announced At Home launched curbside pickup at a majority of its locations earlier this month (Marin,2020b).
COVID 19: During March, all non-essential business like At Home was federal mandated to temporarily close their stores to prevent the spread of COVID 19. CEO Lee Bird thought it was a great time to fully launch their curbside pickup service, suspending new store openings, reducing operating expenses and inventory flows (Marin, 2020a). They also dawn $55 million revolving credit facility to provide increased financial flexibility (Marin, 2020).
