Making an Impact By Carter Kohli and Zachery Simpkins

Running for Governor or Secretary of State is difficult without a good campaign trail. Through our inquiries with the delegates willing to put themselves out there to run for elected positions, we have observed common practices of campaigning and more eccentric methods seldom seen. State has to be outgoing and get their word out. Posters, costing $100 Buckeye Boys State dollars, are a great tool to convey their message to anyone who manages to catch a glimpse. BBS delegate, Carter J. Hellsworth, created a poster to attempt to convince people to vote him in for the Secretary of State. Ryan Kaver-

man used his last name, running with the slogan “I hit problems like a club”. A less common approach to campaigning can be seen with the delegate Cole Miller. He was running for Chief Justice. He was seen playing a guitar on the edge of the sidewalk with his signature form in hand. While other delegates were signing the signature sheet, he was playing a tune by Johnny Cash. Another musically talented delegate, Tochi Ibe, a Federalist candidate for Governor, made an impact with both his outgoing personality and love for music. For his speech to his party, he wrote and recited his very own rap. When asked about the reason for his rising popularity, Tochi answered, “Love being me, like to rhyme on the side.” Gregory Campbell and Aiden Sizemore are a powerful duo running for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. When asked on their strategy, Gregory answered, “The biggest thing for us right now is word of mouth.” This is also helped by their unique message, which Aiden describes as, “Sharing unity between Nationalist and Federalists.” During the evening assembly on Monday, the American Legion Medal of Valor, and the privilege of being inducted into the Buckeye Boys State Hall of Continued on Pg. 4

War Brewing at Boys State? Reporter: Zeb Downs

On Monday June 13th, Caden Schiltz was ready to relax and study for his Highway Patrol exam. He walked into his calm residence to find 5 Bishop City boys in the midst of a robbery. The boys targeted a Cleveland Browns Blanket which they successfully got away with and brought back to their city in the pouring rain. Caden chased them to Bishop City to retrieve his stolen property only for White County Sheriff Jake Baxter to attempt to escort Caden out. Backed into a corner and panicking, Caden took one of their members in an attempted kidnapping. The representatives of Bishop City were able to negotiate with Caden allowing him to walk away with his blanket and the citizen was set free However, Caden in retaliation stole a pair of sunglasses from Bishop City.

Quickly Bishop City was able to use local legend Waluigi to launch a counterattack and infiltrated Caden’s room to retrieve the glasses. The Bishop City residents trashed the room and apprehended Caden’s roommate. They successfully retrieved the pair of glasses and made their escape. After a period of deliberation, Bishop City declared war on Caden and Peltier City. One of the initial criminals, Blake Walker, organized a group of delegates to prepare for the incoming war. Upon hearing the news, Peltier city has united against Bishop City. However they have not taken any actionable measures to improve city defenses.
