Flush Doors Our Birch, Lauan, Red Oak and hardboard flush doors are made to non-architectural specifications. Cherry, Walnut and Maple doors are made to architectural specifications. Birch and Red Oak doors are available with architectural specifications.

Birch doors are rotary natural. A uniform light birch is available for an upcharge. Red oak doors are plain sliced. Birch and Oak doors are standard with wood clear stiles made from western softwoods (mill-option Meranti). Hardwood stiles are available for an upcharge. Hollow core doors are for use where light to medium duty requirements are needed and where lightness of weight is a factor such as in normal residential and office application. The adhesive used is a Type II water resistant. Hollow core doors have a corrugated honeycomb paper of uniform thickness composed of hexagonal cells approximately every five to six inches. The hollow core is bonded to the door skin but not to the frame. Hollow doors are for interior use only.

Particle core doors are used for general residential and commercial applications where stability and durability are needed. Smooth uniform cores provide relief from telegraphing or show-through. Economical and more sound proof than stave (wood) core doors. Stave core doors are available where superior vertical stability and increased screw holding capacity is necessary. The adhesive used is a Type II water resistant or type I waterproof. Particle cores meets or exceeds requirements of Type I, Density C, Class I particleboard as described in the latest edition of CS236, Matformed wood particleboard. The core is bonded to the door skin but not to the frame.

Particle core and stave core doors may be used for interior and exterior applications. See warranty for exclusions. Birch, Lauan, Red Oak and hardboard door hollow particle and stave core skins are 1/8” thick. Edge stiles are approximately 1”. Top and bottom rails are approximately 1-3/4”.
Particle Core
45, 60 & 90 minute fire door edge stiles are approximately 1/2” (before beveling) and fire retardant. They are bonded to approximately 1” of an incombustible non-asbestos mineral core with screw holding capacity which is then bonded to an incombustible non-asbestos mineral core. Fire doors rails are approximately 5/8” on top and 1-3/4” on bottom. These doors are labeled and classified by Warnock Hersey International, Inc as fire barriers in sizes up to and including 4/0 x 8/0. Doors cannot be machined or cut out anywhere except at the point of manufacture or on the premises of a licensed machining facility (B&B is licensed). Recommended hardware: Steel butt or half-surface hinges (ball bearing or equivalent.) and approved cylindrical latches with 1/2” or 3/4” throw. Doors up to 8/0 high can be machined for mortise and unit latches. Half-surface hinges with through bolts are recommended for openings of high frequency use. Fire doors are for interior use.
