CLUB NEWS

March Madness Is Upon Us! This has nothing to do with college basketball! March is a crazy month in that it is our transition to break out of winter mode and to get our facilities prepared for the fastapproaching season ahead. Not to mention that March 2023 is also the final month of the 2022 Membership year! You may have received, or you will receive shortly, Troon's annual dues announcement for the 2023 Membership year, April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024. Once again, the Club will be offering a 4% discount for annual dues payments by check, along with a member's "Perk-Pac" to enjoy the many Club amenities throughout our Ocean Edge property. The 2023 Annual Dues announcement will be posted on the Club Website along with the Annual Dues Form, as well as emailed to all Members to review and download the form to return to the Club.

With March upon us the Golf Agronomy Team is working on preparing the course to reopen, which is currently slated for Friday, March 24, weather permitting. There is a lot that Craig and his team must do to be ready for the opening, so please refrain from walking or playing the course over the next few weeks. There will be numerous turf applications that need to be put down and we do not want anyone on the course during these needed treatments. Additionally, please note that the surface turf is soft right now and divots / ball marks will not heal, thus when we open those scars will remain and be in place for weeks. The sub-level turf temperature needs to be at a constant 52 degrees or higher to germinate new seed and to allow for existing turf to regenerate, so March can give us nice days, but the cold nights and thawing process over the winter takes time for the turf to reach this temperature level. Please keep this in mind, as ideally, we open with the best possible health for our turf to withstand the stress of summer, so your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

March weather also dictates our outdoor pool schedules and reopening. In a perfect world, we will be able to drain the Bay Pines outdoor pool, power-wash and chlorine wash the walls and base of the pool to fill and filtrate for an April 1 opening. The Member Sports Club pool requires the same process and is on a similar timeline but for an April 7 opening. However, in order to make this happen, we need great March weather. For Bayside to open on April 1, we need to have the pool filled and flowing with State Lab tests in by March 20. This date provides enough time for the Brewster Board of Health to receive the State Lab results, inspect and test the pool so that they too confirm results and safety standards, then permit us to open on our desired date. For the Member Sports Club, the same timeline of the testing and permitting process exists, just pushed back oneweek, Pools are a lot of work and need an extraordinary amount of time to be ready for season and with the March weather being unpredictable, it makes for a mad-month!

As March closes on Friday the 31st, we will roll into April where Tennis and Pickleball will be back in action, Jim returns early April and will have the Bay Pines courts ready to play by the 7th, weather permitting. In the meantime, throughout March and early April, we do have two Tennis nets up at Fletcher to play as the weather permits. Additionally, over the course of the winter, we did line two of the Fletcher Tennis Courts with Pickleball lines, we have new Professional Portable Pickleball Nets in place for those who want to enjoy a game of Pickleball at Fletcher while the Blueberry Pond courts are being prepared for season.

On behalf of the entire Club Management Team, we look forward to the new Membership year and thank you for being part of our Club!

Sincerely,

Michael Medeiros Director of Club Development
