Fire Science Associates Degree

From the time I earned my Associates in Fire Science at Bucks, Class of 2017, my college career has progressed quickly. After graduating I took some time to complete an additional academic certificate in Fire Prevention & Investigation. This decision prior to starting my Bachelors carried significant weight as far as transfer credits. By September of 2018, I was able to start my Bachelor of Fire Science through an articulation that Bucks offered with a major University, in thirteen short months, I had finished my Bachelors. During this time, I also transitioned to a part-time position as a career firefighter/fire inspector with a local municipality. Not only did my job relate to what I was learning, but I was able to take what I learned during my degree studies to work and improve various operating guidelines. This along with my acceptance into a Masters in Homeland Security and Emergency Management ensured my role in the unforeseen pandemic. I was able to provide well rounded and written policies and guidelines specific to the pandemic event and viewed as a vital member of the Emergency Management Team. Since starting my degree program at Bucks, I have also progressed through the ranks at my fire department, from senior Firefighter to Battalion Chief in 4 years, with 15 years of experience and various professional credentials (Proboard, IFSAC, FEMA, etc Certifications). I intend to further my career built upon a solid a foundation from the Bucks degree and professional credentialing programs and pursue a full-time position as a Fire Marshal or Emergency Manager with the potential to obtain my Doctoral in the near future.
