Crab Fest
June 7, 2019
Welcome to Tyler Taste of Summer: Crab Fest! It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the debut of Tyler Taste of Summer, a fresh take and new look for the Tyler Tasting Party, now in its 31st year. We opted for a more casual celebration this year, complete with a crab bake, chicken barbecue, and the fun summer sounds of Still Surfin’. I’d like to thank our sponsors that have made this event possible, especially our Presenting Sponsor, The First National Bank & Trust Co. of Newtown. A supporter for nearly two decades, they are a great neighbor and a great partner. Your attendance here tonight supports scholarships and educational programs, allowing Bucks to continue its mission. It was your support that allowed us in March to successfully complete a comprehensive fundraising campaign that exceeded its goal, raising more than $4 million. Another milestone was marked in May, as the college celebrated the largest graduating class in its 55-year history, conferring more than 1,100 degrees and certificates for the 2018-19 academic year. As we honor our past, we also look to the future. To meet the demand for skilled employees, we’ve announced plans for a state-of-the-art workforce development facility at the Gene and Marlene Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks in Bristol. This new building will allow us to expand our workforce training programs, helping to bring Bucks Countians the skills they need for in-demand, well-paying jobs. Once again, thank you for being here this evening to support our mission, to be in community with us, to celebrate all that Bucks has traditionally been, and to help shape our exciting future. With gratitude,
Stephanie H. Shanblatt, Ph.D.
