Academics
Professor Craig Jackson is Head of the Psychology Division in our School of Social Sciences. His areas of expertise are based around investigative psychology, deviance and psychopathology in the workplace and unusual occupations. Placements Placements are a fantastic way to get more out of your experience at university. Not only do you get your degree but you have experience in real-life working environments to go with it. Collette is a Public Sociology student who embarked on a placement with Birmingham Citizens Advice Bureau. Dr Kehinde Andrews is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and specialises in black studies, race, racism and ethnicity. As Chair of the Organisation of Black Unity (www.blackunity.org.uk), he is an active public speaker, frequently organising free events for students, as well as engaging them in local topics and discussions. You could be infusing debate with his knowledge.

Our Criminology department have a close working relationship with high-security prison HMP Grendon in Buckinghamshire. Criminology students have the opportunity to take part in a unique annual debate there, which will give you an exceptional insight into how criminological theory and practice combine.

Professor David Wilson is best known for his expertise in prisons and imprisonment, media representations of crime and punishment, and of course, serial murder. His recent TV series ‘Killer Psychopaths’ showcases David as a highly skilled criminologist. You could be learning from the best.
