We design with purpose. We design for it all. At BDH, our mission is to design with purpose. And our purpose is people. Most importantly we believe in designing for all people - those of different backgrounds, perspectives, abilities, ages, voices. In order to successfully design for all people, we need to embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion in our company. Teams with a variety of viewpoints strengthen our problem solving and the space we create isn’t about about people. And the needs

gained from different life experiences creativity. It allows us to understand walls, stairs, floors, windows; it is of these people drive our designs.

BDH has been a trailblazer in gender equality over its 50 years in business. After being founded in 1971 by a woman, BDH has added 7 different female partners throughout its history. BDH currently has an all female board, a female president, and a female CFO. We have held the designation of WBE, Women Business Enterprise, for more than 15 years. As a company we realize minorities are underrepresented in our industry and our office. We are working to improve that by partnering with the Bloomington Transition Center to mentor a diverse group of young adults and expose them to the architecture industry. Additionally, we have implemented applicant tracking for our job postings to ensure a diverse group of candidates are viewing them. Although we know there is room for improvement, we also know we are headed in the right direction. We have created an inclusive workplace where our employees are comfortable bringing their authentic selves. We recognize each employee as a whole person with passions, needs, and challenges outside of work. Our employees know we support them, whether it be with flexibility, mental health resources, wellness options, or personal connections. As we continue our progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion, BDH is proud to recognize each employee as an individual. 4
