OUR GUIDE TO AUSTRALIA:

60 DEGREES SOUTH A destination as diverse as Australia can be pretty daunting at first glance. That’s why we’ve scoured the beaches and turned every rock to let you in on our best kept nuggets of information from each corner of every state. Enjoy.

VICTORIA FOR BOHEMIA AND CITY BUZZ

It may be small, but Victoria packs a pretty strong punch. Not only does it boast lush parkland and gorgeous coastal scenery stretching its way along the Great Ocean Road, but it’s also lucky enough to have Australia’s second largest city Melbourne sitting on its sandy shores. A cultural hub as well as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Oz, this is the place to come for a bit of city buzz.

QUEENSLAND FOR A SLICE OF BEACH PARADISE

With around 300 days of the year bathed in sunshine, it’s not surprising that Queensland has become a bit of a beach mecca. Work your way around the stunning sands of the Sunshine Coast or hop aboard a boat and discover some of the lesser-known beaches of the Whitsunday Islands.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA TO TICKLE YOUR TASTE BUDS

Rolling hills of lush green, bright white beaches and vast valleys covered in some of the country’s very best vineyards, South Australia spans an immense expanse of land stretching all the way from the rugged southern coast right up into the isolated core of the country. Home to some of Australia’s top restaurants and wineries, this region is made for foodies.

NORTHERN TERRITORIES FOR A WILD AUSSIE WILDERNESS

Wild, rugged and completely untameable, the landscape of the Northern Territories is the perfect playground for any intrepid traveller. With such a hostile setting, it’s not surprising that very few people actually live here and on some desert roads you may not see another car pass by for weeks. Also home to some of Australia’s deadliest animals, a trip into the northern territories is not for the faint hearted.

NEW SOUTH WALES TO SAMPLE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Home to the majority of Australia’s population as well as one of the world’s most happening cities – Sydney, NSW blends the beating heart of urban life with gorgeous beaches and vast bushland. From the surfing centre of Byron Bay to the ski slopes of the Snowy Mountains, NSW has more than enough personalities to keep you occupied.

TASMANIA TO GET YOUR HEART PUMPING

Once banished into the shadows by mainland Oz, people have finally begun to give Tassie the credit it’s due. With windswept beaches of fine white sand and around 20% of the island taken up by dense areas of national parkland, this is an ideal spot for active types and adrenaline junkies.

OUR BELOVED OFF THE BEATEN TRACK TRIP TO WESTERN AUSTRALIA:

WINE, WHALE SHARKS AND WILD WEST With coral to rival the Great Barrier Reef, top notch surf instruction, some of the world’s finest wineries, wild west towns, and wildlife to die for, we think you’d be crazy to miss out on the West Coast. It’s top-totoe full of unbelievable experiences, and out of world landscapes and with less travellers here than the East, it’s the ideal alternative choice.

PENGUINS AND SURF IN PERTH

SIP THE GOOD STUFF IN Closer to South East Asia than any other MARGARET RIVER

their award-winning restaurant) try abseiling and rock climbing, or an escorted walk to the jaw-dropping, eerie limestone caves at Yallingup with our knowledgeable guides.

NINGALOO REEF: WILDLIFE GALORE

By now you’ll want some sun and sealife, so we’ll fly you to the stunning Ningaloo Reef which borders the North West Cape: we love the Great Barrier Reef, but this is a brilliant, lesser known alternative. Between March and early July, Whale sharks swim the warm waters of this untouched coastline, and we insist you join them (dont panic, they don’t eat humans). In fact, we’ll arrange it for you. This is pretty exciting: a helicopter will fly out over the reef to spot the mighty fish, and radio down to your speed boat so you can nip out to their exact spot. Swimming with these giants – up to 14 metres long – is an

experience like nothing else on earth and it’s very likely to be the highlight of your bespoke Western Australian adventure. We love the luxury eco-tents (and they take their eco-friendliness seriously: from solar panels to especially-designed natural bathroom products) of Sal Salis, from where you can walk (or kayak) out to the coral in just minutes from the white sand beach (much closer to your hotel than the corals at the Great Barrier Reef, where you need to take a boat trip), and see fish, turtles and manta rays swim by. Simply unbelievable.
