CENTRAL COVENTRY FIRE DISTRICT Stay Involved! Your Fire District Needs You! On Thursday, February 19, 2021, the Board of Directors will be discussing several important topics that will impact the future of the Central Coventry Fire District. Last month we told you about the overtime bill that the General Assembly passed and Governor Raimondo signed that changes the way the District pays firefighters for overtime. We told you this will cost District of $275,000 annually without ANY change in the services. To defray and delay these costs, the Board will discuss and act upon a resolution to exempt the District from the requirements of the overtime bill, by asking the General Assembly to put off implementation of this unfunded mandate for up to 5 years. The Board will discuss and act upon a resolution to shut off streetlights on state-owned roads, which should be the responsibility of RIDOT, and not the people of the District. Finally, the Board will discuss and act upon a proposal for a supplemental tax increase of 16-20% to fund the present and future obligations of the District, including: a new collective bargaining agreement with the employees; stabilization of the District’s fund balance; continued payment of pension costs; and, funds to address streetlights.

Prayer to St. Jude Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (your request) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever. I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen. T.A.D

I Heart Valentine’s Day
Did you know?
When planning spring landscapes, homeowners should always group plants with similar water needs together. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, grouping plants with similar water needs together helps to conserve water, which can be an especially useful strategy if or when drought restrictions go into effect in summer. Homeowners also can embrace additional strategies to landscape with water conservation in mind. For example, aerating soil helps to improve water flow to plants’ roots and reduces water runoff, helping to ensure that plants get all of the water they need while reducing the likelihood that homeowners will have to use excessive amounts of water to keep plants healthy. In addition, using low-water-using types of grass can help homeowners who live in areas prone to drought conserve water while still maintaining lush, green lawns.
Is chocolate a guilty treat or a great-tasting, heart-healthy indulgence? Do you use chocolate to boost your mood, or reserve it for special celebrations? Chocolate has been considered an aphrodisiac food since the time of Aztecs. It’s said to contain a substance that inflames desire and makes the beloved one more open to romance. Whatever your reason for choosing chocolate, emerging research shows there may be some health benefits to consuming certain types of chocolate. This is wonderful news for chocolate lovers and for anyone who enjoys celebrating Valentine’s Day! Unsweetened cocoa and dark chocolate appear to be healthier choices than other kinds of chocolate. Dark chocolate also is a delicious, heart-healthy choice for Valentine’s Day. Blood pressure, cardiovascular health and insulin sensitivity have all been shown to improve from the flavonoids in the cocoa bean. Other research suggests that eating chocolate makes us feel good — something self-professed chocoholics already know. Chocolate helps reduce stress and has other positive, mood-boosting psychological effects. Chocolate also may be connected to neurotransmitters boosting mood and lowering anxiety. Research is still preliminary, so nutrition experts don’t recommend eating chocolate for those health benefits alone, but the research is something chocolate lovers will watch. So how much dark chocolate or unsweetened cocoa powder is the potential ticket to good health? None of the studies to date have determined the optimal daily serving. Many health experts are comfortable recommending daily dark chocolate in small amounts — an ounce or two daily — if it’s a food you already enjoy and can afford it in your calorie budget. Making chocolate milk with unsweet-
ened cocoa powder (containing 82% cocoa) stirred into skim milk and sweetened with stevia — as opposed to the highly processed and sugar-sweetened version typically found on supermarket shelves — is a healthy choice. In one study, chocolate-milk drinkers who used the healthy drink recipe showed marked improvement in heart health, including a boost to the “good” HDL cholesterol. Not all chocolate is created equal: The higher the cocoa content, the greater the health benefits from flavonoids, which help protect against aging and some chronic diseases. Following unsweetened cocoa powder on the list for highest percentage of cocoa is unsweetened baking chocolate and dark chocolate.
Depositphotos
Studies suggest that eating dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa improves cardiovascular health. Semisweet chocolate and milk chocolate are lower in cocoa content. A final word of caution: check the ingredients label to see where sugar is listed. The further down the list the better, because that indicates a smaller amount of sugar. Weigh the extra calories in chocolate before you spend them — and then enjoy every morsel! My recipe for Dark Chocolate Delights are bonbons that are simple to make and the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for the health and happiness of the ones you love. Dates are a sweet and “delightful” ingredient in these dark chocolate bonbons. Dates are rich in calcium, sulfur, iron, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, copper and magnesium, which are all advantageous for health. Have a happy (and heart-healthy) Valentine’s Day!
DARK CHOCOLATE DELIGHTS 1 1
cup peanut butter, smooth or chunky cup chopped pecans, toasted
1 1 1½ 1½ 1½ 1/2
cup stevia powdered sugar (see recipe below) cup dates, chopped (not the prepackaged, chopped type) tablespoons butter, softened, divided cups semisweet chocolate chips cup dark chocolate chips cup shredded, unsweetened coconut, optional
To make sugar-free powdered sugar: 1 cup stevia (like Truvia Baking Blend or Whole Earth Baking Blend) 1 teaspoon cornstarch Combine the stevia and cornstarch in a blender or food processor. Combine the ingredients on high until it creates the look and consistency of traditional powdered sugar. Use in the recipe as directed. Makes 1 cup. To make the BonBons: 1. Using a large bowl, combine peanut butter, pecans, stevia powdered sugar, dates and 1 tablespoon butter, and mix well. Form mixture into 1-inch balls. Set aside in refrigerator to harden, about 30 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, melt the semisweet chips in a large glass measuring cup or medium bowl in the microwave on medium power (or on defrost setting), about 2 minutes, stirring once after 1 minute, until melted and smooth. 3. Stir in remaining dark chocolate chips and stir constantly until smooth (this cools and tempers the chocolate, setting up crystals so it will harden). Stir in the remaining 1/2 tablespoon butter to bring the chocolate to a glossy finish. 4. Dip each bonbon ball into the melted chocolate mixture and set the bonbons on wax paper or parchment paper. Sprinkle with shredded coconut, if desired. Let stand until chocolate is firm, about 15 minutes. Store tightly covered at room temperature. Makes about 32 bonbons. *** Angela Shelf Medearis is an award-winning children’s author, culinary historian and the author of seven cookbooks. Essentials for a bathroom remodel What began as a utilitarian space for personal sanitation has, in modern times, transformed into one of the most coveted rooms in the house. Bathrooms have become a place to relax and unwind, and new bathrooms are on the tops of many homeowners’ wishlists. Bathrooms can be as lavish as budgets allow. Wish lists can include everything from luxurious soaking tubs to rainfall showerheads to chaise lounges to televisions or home entertainment systems contained in the space. Those contemplating their own bathroom renovations may draw inspiration from the following features. • Hot water recirculation system: Few things can be as disappointing as desiring a hot bath or shower only to find that the hot water tank has been drained. The home remodeling company Normandy Remodeling says that water recirculation systems provide on-demand hot water. In such systems, hot water may continuously run through the pipes or there may be a pump underneath a sink. Either way, one needn’t wait for the water to warm up any longer. • Double undermount sinks: Bathroom time is at a premium, especially when people must prepare and leave the house together. Rather than jockeying for position around a single sink, dual sinks enable more breathing room and time efficiency. Undermount sinks are easy to clean because there is no lip around where the sink meets the vanity, preventing the accumulation of grime and gunk. • Glass-free shower: Soap scum and water deposits can form on shower doors, even for homeowners who are diligent with cleaning. A sizable shower prevents water spray and affords the ability to forgo glass doors or curtains, thereby
cutting down on cleaning and making the room feel more modern. • Multihead shower: When redoing the shower, account for various shower heads so that the water can cascade across the body more completely. This provides a spa experience at home. • Touchless faucets and soap dispensers: These aren’t just for public bathrooms anymore. Touchless faucets and dispensers are more sanitary and convenient. • Separate toilet room: A shared bath almost necessitates this type of set-up. The toilet is housed inside its own small space and closed away from the rest of the bathroom. It’s more private and convenient this way. • Heated flooring: You need not worry about stepping out of a warm shower onto a cold floor when heated flooring is part of the equation. This option is available in various flooring materials as well. Remodeling a bathroom boils down to certain coveted features that can really set a space apart.

Though she held many jobs in her younger years and while she raised her two children (David, now 35 and Danielle, aged 32), her real career began as the Marketing Director of the Lincoln Mall, followed by a tenure as the Marketing Director of Garden City Center. When she hit a crossroad in her career in 2004, she serendipitously met Richard Fleischer, Beacon Communications’ General Manager (OMIT & Publisher). It didn’t take long for Fleischer to recognize Zarrella’s many talents and what her years of experience could bring to this Rhode Island mainstay. From 2004 until today, Zarrella remains a true beacon of light at this publishing company. Having
worked in management, marketing, and media sales for as long as she has, there was little wisdom and knowledge she couldn’t contribute. Over those years of accumulated experience, Zarrella learned what made people on both sides of the “sales” job successful, and she has emulated those qualities in her own professional associations. Dependability, integrity, sincerity, decisiveness, approachability, directness, passion for your product and good old-fashioned friendliness are all attributes Zarrella embodies. Since taking over the managerial helm in April of 2019, Zarrella has been committed to building the team at Beacon Communications whose reach includes the Cranston Herald, the Warwick Beacon, the Johnston SunRise and The Reminder, among many other publications. When Beacon Communications purchased the Coventrybased Reminder in 2018, Zarrella was promoted to the Manager of Operations there. The Reminder is a weekly publication that has been serving its community for over 65 years. Today, in the role of Advertising Manager, she continues to focus on building the everimportant relationships

Designer: Michelle Parenteau Michelle Lee Designs Quaker Valley Condominium – West Warwick – Remodel/Flip Rich Paolo’s dated 1300 sq. ft. condo, built in the 1980s, needed to be brought into the current decade, with a total makeover. In October 2020, Michelle came in with her team of professional contractors, to tackle this extensive renovation. They started in the Kitchen with new granite countertops, tile backsplash, updated lighting and painted cabinets, along with vinyl plank flooring. Then it was on to the Living Room, for a fresh coat of paint. Old carpet was removed and replaced with the same vinyl plank flooring as in the kitchen. The Master Bath received a complete renovation with brand new plumbing fixtures, floor and wall tile, vanity, countertop and a beautiful tiled walk-in shower. The 2nd Bath was partially renovated with new floor tile, vanity, and countertop. New lighting was carefully chosen for each room throughout the condo. The two bedrooms were freshly painted, and updated with new carpet. Lastly, new carpet was installed in the two heated lanais. By November 2020, just one month later, the project was complete. This once outdated living space had been completely transformed, and it was ready to list. Within a week and half this condo sold for well over the asking price – thanks to the expert design work of Michelle and her team. Michelle Lee Designs is an award-winning and published interior design firm, based in Johnston. Michelle will create distinctive designs tailored to the lifestyles of each of her clients.

SAY YOU SAW IT IN THE REMINDER
Home is where the heart... and soul is By Donna DeLauro
With many of us spending more time at home, we have a new appreciation and need for space. Pre COVID-19 some of us were able to get by with modest living areas, as we spent our time at work and school, then maybe grabbed something quick for dinner between activities, socializing, shopping, etc. We choose where to live based on where we work, and how much property we want based on how much time is spent at home.

BEFORE
Now we are working, schooling, cooking, eating, working out, and socializing all from home. Maybe you are fortunate to have excess room to create office space, schoolwork space for the kids, and room for more than one cook in the kitchen. Some are opting for refinancing and making alterations to the current home, building an addition, or finishing lower levels for increased living space. If you decide to upsize to a larger home in a more rural area, you will be in competition with many folks looking for the same thing for the same reasons. Unfortunately, there are not many homes available to purchase these days. As the promise of Spring, vaccines, and return to normalcy is upon us, we can hope to see more homeowners decide to make that move and list their homes for sale. That would open the market for more buyer opportunities. If the interest rates remain low, we could potentially enjoy a healthy housing market in many ways. In the meantime, finding a quiet corner away from the other action going on with everyone staying home can be a challenge. Being creative with your space and time may help. Find an area that currently houses décor and replace it with a desk and shelving to store those books, folders, electronics, etc. A lap desk can be comfortable and efficient working from a favorite chair. A SmartTV will allow access to internet for Google classroom, Zoom meetings for work, and virtual visits with friends and family. Taking turns using these options and quiet places can allow everyone some work time in privacy while others enjoy time spent at home. If you are a mature adult in need of transitioning out of your larger family home to a smaller place, perhaps an assisted living or extended care community, or if you wish to rent, you can contact a Senior Real Estate Specialist who can assist with your goals and unique situation to create a plan for a safe move at the right time. Now more than ever it’s more than just a home sale. It is a coordinated plan to prepare the home for sale while transitioning to your future lifestyle safely and timely. In any case, if now is not the time to make that move, you can use the opportunity at home to organize, downsize and be prepared when the situation is safe to do so. Cleaning out closets, drawers and basements can be done now while it is cold outside. Once the weather gets a little better you can go outside and get the property ready for sale. Hopefully we are coming to an end of this unique situation. But maybe we can find some positives in it all with newfound ways to be happy at Home Sweet Home. Donna DeLauro is a Realtor at RE/MAX Real Estate Center in Coventry. She is also a Senior Real Estate Specialist and the Proud Founder of Mature Matters. Home renovation projects are significant undertakings. Working with skilled and experienced contractors can ensure projects go smoothly and are completed promptly. Timing is a big consideration for homeowners as they begin renovating their homes, and the home improvement experts at HomeAdvisor note that the following are some general timelines for popular renovation projects. • Home addition: Short of a full-scale demolition and rebuild, home additions are the most time-consuming projects homeowners can undertake. HomeAdvisor notes that its survey of customers who recently completed home addition projects reported that the average time from start to finish was between three and four months. Certain variables, including the scale of the project and the local permits process, can extend the time it takes to complete a home addition. • Kitchen remodel: Scale is a big factor to consider when estimating the time it takes to complete various home improvement projects, and kitchen remodels are no exception. Some HomeAdvisor users reported projects taking as long as four months, though the average time reported was roughly six weeks. Projects that require major overhauls like rearranging the plumbing and moving
walls will likely take longer than more cosmetic projects that are limited to replacing cabinets and countertops. • Bathroom remodel: More than 1,000 homeowners surveyed by HomeAdvisor reported that bathroom remodels took about 4.5 weeks from start to finish. Small-scale remodels that focus on painting the walls a fresh color and replacing existing tiles can be completed in less than two weeks. But like with kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels that involve replacing plumbing fixtures and removing walls figure to take much longer than that. • Siding installation: HomeAdvisor users report that new siding projects take roughly two weeks from start to finish. That estimate is the same regardless of which materials homeowners are replacing and installing. • Replacement windows: Homeowners who want to replace all the windows in their home can expect such a project to take roughly three weeks. HomeAdvisor notes that such a timeline need not concern homeowners worried that they will be forced to brave the elements during the length of the project. Much of a contractors’ time during a window replacement project will be spent on upfront measuring and then ensuring a tight fit once the windows have been installed.
ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Doing something nice for others is typical of the generous Arian. But be prepared for some jealous types who might try to question one of your more recent acts of kindness. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) You’re eager to take on new responsibilities. But before you do, you might want to check out exactly what would be required of you so that you don’t face any “surprises” later. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) It might be best to put off an important decision until a fluctuating situation becomes more stable. Recently received news could help resolve a long-standing family matter. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) If you still have a problem getting that information gap closed, you might consider asking a higher authority to resolve the matter, leaving you free to move on to another project. LEO (July 23 to August 22) A family matter needs to be dealt with at the start of the week. Once it’s resolved, the Big Cat can devote more attention to that new opportunity that seems to hold so much potential. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Pay attention to those niggling doubts. They could be warning you not to make any major decisions until you’ve checked them out — especially where money matters might be involved.
LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) A business venture might need more of your attention than you are able to provide. Consider asking a trusted friend or family member to help you work through this time crunch. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) A more-positive aspect helps you get a clearer focus on how to handle your time so that you can deal with several responsibilities that are just now showing up on your schedule. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) A very close friend (you know who that is!) has advice that could help you work through a confusing situation. So put your pride aside and ask for it. You’ll be glad you did. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) A workplace situation could turn a bit tense. The best way to handle it is to confront it and deal with it openly. Doing so can help reveal the underlying reasons for the problem. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) A colleague’s remarks appear to be especially cutting. But don’t waste your time or your energy trying to deal with the situation. You have more important things to do. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) Support for your work comes as a surprise from someone you thought was critical or, at least, indifferent. Your spouse or partner has big plans for the weekend. Memorable moments in Daytona 500 history The inaugural Daytona 500 was held in 1959. Since then, the race has become one of professional racing’s biggest and most popular events. The Daytona 500 has produced its share of history, and even tragedy. The following are some of the more memorable events from NASCAR’s season-opening race. • 1959: NASCAR pioneer Lee Petty wins the inaugural Daytona 500. If Petty’s name sounds familiar to young racing enthusiasts, that’s because he’s the father of the iconic Richard Petty, who would become one of racing’s most successful drivers and team owners. And in a testament to the adage “like father, like son,” the younger Petty would win the Daytona 500 a record seven times. • 1965: Typically a 200-lap race, the Daytona 500 is shortened to 133 laps in 1965. That marked the first such time the race did not finish 200 laps. • 1968: In a thriller, Cale Yarborough wins his first Daytona 500 after executing a successful slingshot pass with just five laps to go. The move paved the way for Yarborough to win the race by 1.3 seconds. Yarborough overcame various obstacles during the race, including the failure of his car’s primary ignition system in the first year that NASCAR teams employed such systems. • 1974: The 1973 oil crisis, a situation that arose from the Yom Kippur War that led to an oil embargo targeting several western nations, affected the 1974 Daytona 500. As a result of the crisis, the Daytona 500 was shortened to 180 laps. Richard Petty won the race, becoming the first driver to win it in consecutive years. • 1979: The 1979 Daytona 500 marks the first time the race is broadcast live on national television, reflecting the growing popularity of the sport. • 1985: After finishing in the top five three
straight times between 1982 and 1984, Bill Elliott put forth a dominant performance in 1985, leading for 136 of the 200 laps. A forced pit stop for a broken headlight assembly almost derails Elliot’s legendary effort, but the Georgia native overcomes that and a late caution flag to secure his first Daytona 500 victory. • 1989: Despite having competed in the race 16 times, Darrell Waltrip had not had much luck etching his name into the Daytona 500 history books prior to 1989. But Waltrip’s 17th start proved to be the charm as the veteran driver ran on fumes, stretching his final tank of fuel for 53 laps to win the race. • 1990: Derrike Cope pulls off one of the greatest upsets in the history of the Daytona 500, earning his first victory and even his first top five finish. • 1998: After years of frustration in Daytona, including a narrow loss to Cope in 1990, Dale Earnhardt finally wins the Daytona 500.
During a slow drive through pit road after his victory, Earnhardt is congratulated by his competition. • 2001: Just three years after he finally won the Daytona 500, Earnhardt dies from injuries sustained in a crash on the final lap. Earnhardt was behind just two other drivers on the final lap, including his son, Dale Jr. But the elder Earnhardt lost control of his car after making contact with another car, crashing into a wall and suffering a fatal skull fracture. • 2003: Rain shortens the race to just 109 laps, its shortest length ever. Michael Waltrip earns his second Daytona 500 victory. • 2011: To mark the tenth anniversary of Earnhardt’s death, the third lap of the 2011 Daytona 500 is designated as a silent lap in reference to the fallen legend’s #3 car. Television and radio announcers remain silent throughout the lap as fans in attendance hold up three fingers.

Q: A:
How old are George Clooney’s twins now? Are he and his wife still married? — E.E. After having graced the cover of “People” magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue twice, movie star and Oscar winner George Clooney was officially off the market in 2016 when he wed attorney Amal Alamuddin. She gave birth to twins Alexander and Ella, now 3 years old, and they appear to be a solid duo, keeping the romance alive with handwritten letters to each other even while living under the same roof. The notoriously tech-shy star isn’t on social media either, and he treasures his letters he’s collected and framed from such legends as Paul Newman, Gregory Peck and Walter Cronkite. Clooney directed and starred in the Netflix sci-fi film “The Midnight Sky” and has been giving interviews promoting it. He speaks lovingly about his wife and twins, telling AARP magazine that he didn’t want to give his kids “weird” names because “They’re already going to have enough trouble. It’s hard being the son of somebody famous and successful.” *** When is “Stranger Things” returning for another season? It seems like it’s been forever. Will this be the final season whenever it does come back? — P.C. “Stranger Things” was not immune to the shutdowns that affected production in Hollywood and around the world. This includes the state of Georgia, where most of “Stranger Things” is filmed. I can offer some good news though. Production of the Netflix series resumed this winter, so expect to see season four of the spooky show sometime in 2021. I won’t give away any potential spoilers, but one thing that’s been widely reported is that Robert Englund is joining the cast as a homicidal prisoner of a psychiatric hospital. He is, of course, best known as ‘80s horror movie icon Freddy Krueger. Tom Wlaschiha (“Game of Thrones”) is also a new cast member, joining returning favorites Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour and Winona Ryder. According to TVLine.com, there are estimated to be eight episodes in this
long-delayed season, but it won’t be the end. Ross Duffer, the mastermind behind “Stranger Things,” stated that the pandemic “has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show.”

What happened to Elizabeth Vargas since she left “Dateline”? Why did they replace her with Natalie Morales? — S.F. Elizabeth Vargas was never a “Dateline” reporter, but she co-hosted “20/20” for many years. Natalie Morales recently joined “Dateline” as a full-time correspondent. She’ll continue to work on the “Today” show, but has left her job with the entertainment TV news magazine “Access Hollywood.” As for Vargas, she’s been tapped to host the resurrected “America’s Most Wanted” on Fox when it debuts in the spring. The original series hosted by John Walsh led to the arrest of over 15 of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives along with thousands of other criminals. According to EOnline.com, Walsh has given the new version of “AMW” his blessing. How to prepare a garden for spring planting The final weeks of winter, and even the first few weeks of spring, are still chilly in many parts of the world. Despite those last vestiges of winter chills, late winter is a great time to begin preparing gardens for the coming planting season. Gardens may have to withstand months of harsh weather each winter, and such conditions can take a toll. Gardeners can consider the following tips as they try to restore their gardens and get them ready for spring planting. • Disinfect your tools. It’s common to clean tools in late fall or whenever they’re typically placed in storage for the winter. But cleaning and disinfecting are not necessarily the same thing. If tools were not disinfected at the end of the previous gardening season, disinfect them before doing any work on the garden. Doing so can ensure any lingering bacteria or fungi on tool surfaces
are killed prior to the beginning of gardening season. According to the University of Minnesota Extension, plant pathogens, including bacteria and viruses, can be transferred to and infect plants through bits of soil and plant debris left on shovels and pruner blades. Thoroughly disinfecting such tools prior to using them in the spring is a great way to reduce the risk of disease in your garden. • Clear debris from garden beds. Leaves, twigs, sticks, and other debris may have gathered in the garden over the winter. Such debris can inhibit the growth of plants and vegetables, so make sure all of it is removed prior to planting. Weeds might even begin to sprout up in late winter and early spring, so remove them before they go to seed. • Test the soil. Testing the soil prior to planting can help gardeners determine what their gardens will need to thrive in the coming months. Gar-
den centers and home improvement stores sell home testing kits that are effective and easy to use. Once the results are in, speak with a professional at your local garden center about the best time to amend the soil. • Loosen compacted soil. Soil can become compacted over winter. If compacted soil is not loosened prior to planting, plants will have a hard time getting the water and nutrients they need to thrive. Loosening the soil also provides another opportunity to inspect the garden for any underlying issues, such as fungi or weed growth, that you may have missed when clearing debris or testing the soil.
Late winter is a good time to assess a garden and address any issues that developed over the winter so plants and vegetables can thrive come the spring planting season.
