ST. XAVIER ACADEMY HOMECOMING St. Francis Xavier Academy Alumnae Association (SXA) Homecoming is October 23, with an 11AM Mass at St. Timothy Church, Warwick, followed immediately by lunch at the Crowne Plaza, Warwick. This year, due to prior COVID restrictions, the classes of 1970, ‘71 & ‘72 will be honored for their 50th Anniversary. Scholarships are announced during lunch. HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HEAP) Have trouble paying your heating bill? The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps income eligible families pay their heating bills. The HEAP is a Primary Grant that is sent directly to your utility company or fuel provider, and it will be credited on your bill. MARTHA’S VINEYARD TRIP - NEW DATE AARP Chapter 2210 has planned an ADDITIONAL Martha’s Vineyard trip for July 26. Bus pickup from the Exit 6A Park & Ride at 8AM, return time is approximately 7:30PM. Cost is $129/person. Trip includes motorcoach transportation, ferry ride from Falmouth, guided bus tour of Martha’s Vineyard, sightseeing in Edgartown, with a stop at Bertucci’s for dinner on the way home. GEN. NATHANAEL GREENE HOMESTEAD The Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead in Coventry is looking for individuals interested in becoming Tour Guides for the season. The Homestead, also known as “Spell Hall”, was built by Nathanael Greene in 1770 and has been authentically restored as a Museum dedicated to his memory. Tour Guides will learn about Gen. EXETER GRANGE “GO BANANAS CHALLENGE” Exeter Grange is working on a new challenge. The Grange is participating in the ìGo Bananas Challengeî for Project Saving Species in conjunction with the Cincinnati Zoo. They are asking for donations of used and broken cell phones, smart phones, IPAD/IPODS, tablets and charging accessories. Many of these items contain metals and materials that need to be recycled and not tossed in the landfill. Eco-Call, a Louisville based company, will break down and recycle the items and has a no landfill policy. Donations can be left on the steps of Exeter Grange Hall, 469 Ten Rod Road (Rte. 102) in Exeter. PROJECT FRIENDS Project Friends is a State of RI licensed community based day service program developed in 1992 for adults with developmental disabilities. Each individual has a plan that offers choices of activities which build independence, adult daily living skills, socialization, self-esteem and confidence. Participants are supported by case aides. COVENTRY PUBLIC LIBRARY PRESENTS... Coventry Library will hold an Audubon Nature Walk on June 22 at 10AM. Join us on our hike through the Maxwell May Wildlife Refuge, as we look for some of our feathered friends. Registration is required as space is limited. Please register by emailing Kiki at kbutler@coventrylibrary.org or at the Reference Desk. The walk will be roughly 1.5 miles at an easy pace. Sturdy shoes, sunscreen, hats, and bug spray encouraged. Unfortunately, because of the terrain strollers are not advised. We will be meeting at the refuge’s parking lot.
