Prayer to the
BLESSED VIRGIN
(Never known to fail). O Most Beautiful Flower of Mt. Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. O Star of the sea, help me and show me here in, you are my mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succor me in my necessity (make request). There are none that can withstand your power. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3 times.) Holy Mary, I place this cause in your hands (3 times). Say this prayer for three consecutive days. You must publish it and it will be granted to you. Grateful Thanks. PAK

CARLEEN CHRISTOPHER, RAINDROP TECHNIQUE SPECIALIST Using essential oils in this unique therapeutic process
Soft, meditative music streams into the dimly lit room of Raindrop Technique Specialist Carleen Christopher, creating an immediately soothing effect on her client. The client is lying comfortably on the special table that Carleen uses to perform her Raindrop Therapy. The table has several layers of coverings, from high thread count sheets to a Biomat, heated Infared Rays blanket with Amethyst crystals to a BioAcoustic mat that vibrates at different intensities and patterns. It is an immersive sensory experience. Carleen, who is a Young Living Brand representative, has a calming presence about her. She exudes a feeling of centeredness and steadi-
ness. Secured around her waist is a belt with slots which hold the nine essential oils that she will use in her Raindrop Therapy. Each essential oil has its own unique aroma and healing properties; Carleen knows them all. The therapy uses nine essential oils including Cypress, Marjoram, Wintergreen, Thyme, Basil, Oregano and Peppermint. Some may ask, what exactly is Raindrop Technique and what is its purpose? “The purpose of Raindrop Technique is to stimulate every organ, muscle and bone of the body at a cellular level through essential oils, thereby supporting the immune system, bringing the body into structural/electrical balance,
and enabling the release of toxin or disease.” These oils, which are products of the company Young Living Essential Oils®, are pure and clean, and contain no synthetic fragrances or toxins ~ they are completely natural and of the highest therapeutic grade. Carleen has done extensive research on these oils, both for her professional and personal use. The oils are used to support the circulatory and lymphatic systems, to enhance immunity, relax the muscles of the arms, legs, back, abdomen, neck and face. They support joints and the skeletal structure and soothe both voluntary and involuntary muscles. The oils, both the pure oils and the oil blends, support the digestive, respiratory and nervous systems. As part of the Raindrop Technique, Carleen drops these oils on strategic Vitaflex points of the spine and feet. She then gently “feathers” them into the back and feet in a specific sequence and in a specific, repetitive manner. The effect is again calming, relaxing, restorative.
Meet Carleen Christopher, a Raindrop Technique Specialist based in Coventry. Call today to schedule your appointment and to feel the healing powers of this therapy. Questions? Call Carleen at 401-345-6527.
The specialized work that Carleen does is restorative and therapeutic; it is her passion and her purpose to share with others both the benefits of this unique therapy and these remarkable essential oils. Carleen has gone through extensive train-
ing to become a certified Raindrop Technique Specialist and she is licensed and insured. You can ask her anything about these oils and how, when they are applied in this unique therapy, they can benefit you. As a Young Living Brand representative, she also sells these es-
sential oils and products. Carleen Christopher can be found at the Krystal Rose Salon and Wellness Spa on 85 Sandy Bottom Road in Coventry. You can find her on Facebook and Instagram. Schedule your own therapy session by calling 401-3456527.

Professionals change careers for many reasons. Some do so in pursuit of a higher salary, while others seek a more even balance between their personal and professional lives. Career changes can renew a person’s passion for working, which can grow stale for individuals who have been doing the same job for years on end. Though there’s not necessarily a bad time to change careers, there are times when making such a transition carries more risk. Such is the case for individuals over 50. Many individuals over 50 may not have the financial obligations they had when they were younger, as children may have grown up and moved out of the house. That can make changing careers after 50 more palatable. However, some individuals in their 50s may be hesitant to leave the security of an established career behind in favor of something new. Hesitance about job prospects after 50 also can make some less likely to take the plunge into a new career. Though hesitancy about a career change after 50 is understandable, a recent survey from the American Institute for Economic Research found that 82 percent of workers who responded to the survey were able to successfully transition to a new career after age 45. In addition, projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that labor force participation among individuals aged 65 and over would increase significantly by 2022, nearly doubling the rate of participation in 1990. Those figures suggest that a midlife career change is not necessarily the same thing as a late-career career change. That should give professionals the confidence they need to successfully transition to a new career. Individuals mulling a career change after 50 also can take these steps to make such a transition less risky.
• Pay down as much debt as possible. Financial freedom can be an ally for individuals 50 and over who want to change careers. Career changes often require a pay cut, so individuals who can pay off their mortgages, consumer debts and/or auto loans prior to making a career change may find the transition to a lower income goes more smoothly than it might if they’re still carrying such sizable financial commitments. • Make plans to delay retirement. As BLS data indicates, individuals who want to delay retirement certainly won’t be alone. Delaying retirement affords individuals more time to save, and a financial advisor can help adults over 50 come up with a new retirement plan that reflects their willingness to work longer. Delaying retirement also means delaying withdrawals from retirement savings accounts, which can provide peace of mind against a loss of income resulting from a career change. • Downsize your lifestyle. Even a post-50 career change that will require a significant drop in income can be doable for professionals who downsize their lifestyles. Empty nesters can consider moving into a smaller home, while travelers can cut back on the number of trips they take each year. Cutbacks won’t necessarily be easy, but they can be worth it for individuals looking for new career challenges. • Go back to school. Much like young people go to college before entering the professional arena, adults over 50 who want to change careers may need to go back to school to improve their career prospects. Remote learning and parttime schooling can make juggling a career and school more manageable. A successful career change after 50 is entirely possible for individuals willing to make some sacrifices to be happier in their professional lives.

The Matrix Resurrections (R) — The fourth installment of “The Matrix” film franchise is available once again on streaming for those who missed its original premiere in December. “Resurrections” takes place 60 years after the last film, following the beloved duo of Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), whose memories, since their resurrections, have been suppressed. Outside of the Matrix, Bugs, captain of a hovercraft called the Mnemosyne, recognizes Neo in his suppressed form and is able to extract him from the Matrix’s grip, awakening his true memories and identity. Now, with the help of Bugs and her crew, Neo can help to free Trinity and once again overcome the mind-bending Matrix. Overall, this installment maintains the essence of the previous films while adding interesting new characters and plotlines, but it also has a lot of lighthearted, comedic moments that, at times, feel quite Marvel-esque. (HBO Max) Eternals (PG-13) — Speaking of Marvel-esque! As the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), “Eternals” takes place in Phase Four of the MCU, after the Avengers succeeded in bringing back the missing half of the population that Thanos snapped away. Because of the population’s return, the energy on Earth brought on an apocalyptic astronomical event called the emergence. The only ones with knowledge of it are 10 superheroes, the Eternals, who were brought to Earth in 5,000 B.C. to ensure that the emergence happens. After so many years on Earth that fostered a great love for humankind, the Eternals as a team now face great inner conflict about doing what’s right versus doing what they were told. Hopefully, they’ll prevail in time
to save our planet! (Disney+) Windfall (R) — This Netflix thriller features a cast of three characters who are never named, just described by their general roles: CEO, Wife and Nobody. Easy enough. CEO and Wife enter their vacation home and quickly discover a robber (Nobody), who holds CEO and Wife hostage until he receives $500,000 in cash. A battle of mind games between the three characters commences, until it’s impossible to guess who will actually make it out alive. Director Charlie McDowell’s witty trio includes his own wife, Lily Collins, as well as actors Jason Segel (Nobody) and Jesse Plemons (CEO). (Netflix)

Keanu Reeves in “The Matrix Resurrections” Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (R) — Nancy Stokes (Emma Thompson) is a middle-aged widow who finally feels ready to take the leap and kickstart her love life, so she decides to hire a young sex worker named Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack) to assist her. Nancy makes it clear to Leo beforehand that her late husband didn’t really take her pleasure into account during their marriage, so this is the time for her to ... take advantage and figure herself out. Described as a comedy-drama, this sex-positive film is a bit of an eccentric watch, but Thompson and McCormack are both so charming that you can’t go wrong. 1. Which artist was the first to release “Turn on Your Love Light”? 2. Who wrote and released “Come Softly to Me”? 3. Why did John Mellencamp briefly change his last name to Cougar? 4. Which group started as Chubby and the Turnpikes? 5. Name the song that contains this lyric: “I’ll never let you see the way my broken heart is hurting me, I’ve got my pride and I know how to hide, all the sorrow and pain.” Answers 1. Bobby “Blue” Bland, in 1961. His version was followed by covers from Van Morrison and the Grateful Dead. 2. The Fleetwoods, in 1959. Legend says the song was recorded at home, with no musical accompaniment except the jingling of car keys. Instruments were added later in the studio. (Listen: You can hear the car keys.) 3. “Cougar” was pushed on him by a promoter who said the German sounding “Mellencamp” would be a hard sell. 4. Tavares. 5. “Crying in the Rain,” by the Everly Brothers, in 1962. Astonishingly enough, the song only made it to No. 6 on the U.S. charts. Numerous others released covers over the years, including Peter and Gordon, Art Garfunkel and Slade. The only place it ever topped the chart was Norway. © 2022 King Features Syndicate

Coin-Operated Scale Most of us diet and check our weight, but the days of tall scales sitting on a street corner waiting for someone to put a penny in the slot and step on the scale are almost gone. It was during the 1920s and ‘30s that coin-operated scales were important. The first pedestrian coin scales were made in Germany in 1885, and by 1889, the National Scale Company was manufacturing them in the United States. In 1929, Peerless Scale Company, the largest in the U.S., was worth over $50 million (much more if you think in terms of 2022 dollars). The pennies were enough. A scale in a good location earned about $1,000 a year. By the 1930s there were new incentives to spend a penny. The scale supplied a ticket with your weight printed on it. The tickets added fortunes, and people collected sets. But the fad didn’t last and by the 1940s there were barely a third of the scales still left. The personal bathroom scale had replaced almost all of them. Collectors ignored the old scales at first, but by the 1970s, there were collectors who bought the Peerless scales and others, and especially figural scales like an iron Mr. Peanut. Mr. Peanut scales were created in 1951. There were only 65 ever made — one for each of Planters Stores. The scale pictured measures weights from 25 pounds to 275 pounds. It sold at a Cowan auction for $344. *** I have a full bottle of Corby’s Park Lane Canadian Whisky. The seal is intact and has “1942” printed on it. I also have the original box and hard container for it. I know it is old, as it was in my aunt’s liquor cabinet for many years. Is there any collector value to this? If I

do sell it, can I legally ship it to the buyer? The value is in the collectible container and its packaging, not its contents. It is likely a special decanter bottle, probably a Christmas special, which makes it more collectible than a regular decanter. Park Lane Canadian Whisky has been discontinued. Laws vary from state to state on selling whiskey. But you could sell an empty bottle and box.

This 1920s mirrored scale was made of iron and porcelain by Peerless Weighing Machine Company.

Revitalize your landscape on a budget Many homeowners think they have to spend tons of green to get green in their landscape, but that isn’t necessarily so. Homeowners can improve their landscapes without digging themselves into financial holes. These strategies can help anyone save some cash and still end up with attractive gardens and more. • Use stones or gravel for a walkway. If commercially installed pavers or cement walkways are not within your budget, there are some affordable alternatives. Flagstone or individually purchased and spaced pavers and pea gravel can be used to create pathways. Some construction sites even offer free stones when asked. Soften the look with moss or other plants on the perimeter. • Remove some lawn. Lawns can require hours of upkeep that may involve the application of expensive fertilizers and weed-killing products that are not always so eco-friendly. Reduce the size of a lawn by putting in a mixed planting bed of perennials or ornamental grasses, or use landscape fabric and mulch. • Look for free mulch. Municipal recycling centers may offer residents access to free mulch made from grinding up leaves, branches and other plant debris collected throughout the town. Simply bring a few containers to the recycling center and spread the mulch for an ornamental look or to insulate landscapes over winter and protect against weeds. • Repurpose old items into planters. Old wheelbarrows, barrels, watering cans, and other items can be repurposed into container gardening vessels. Figure out if items marked for the garbage bin can be incorporated into garden features instead. • Invest in plants that are easy to propagate. Perennials are the gar-

Could your kitchen use a little magic? dener’s friend when it comes to saving money. These plants sprout anew each year, and many, such as sedum, catmint, ferns, hostas, and black-eyed Susans, can propagate by division. Figure out the best times of year to divide the plants and start growing them in individual containers before planting the sturdy new shoots in the ground. A single variety of plants grouped together in mass plantings is affordable and easy. • Shop end-of season sales. Garden centers may begin to make room for holiday items come the fall. Take advantage of reduced costs on remaining plants and landscape accessories during this time of year. Plants can be covered or allowed to thrive indoors until they can be planted in the spring. • Pool your resources. Homeowners planning on a big landscaping or revitalization project may want to speak with neighbors to see if they’re interested in doing the same. Contractors guaranteed business from a few homes in the same neighborhood may be willing to negotiate lower prices for the volume of work on things like driveway repaving, deck- or fence-building, or installation of paver patios. Some handy ideas can help homeowners transform landscapes without spending too much.

Here’s How I Saved on Prescription Drugs The price of prescription drugs has, like everything else, inched up. In some cases, the cost has made a massive, sudden jump, and it comes as a shock when you check out at the pharmacy. But there are ways around this horrible surprise. I recently discovered a way to save a lot of money ($80 on a 90-day prescription) by doing two things: I changed pharmacies, and I started using GoodRx. Here’s how: Go to the GoodRx website (goodrx. com) and put in your ZIP code so that all the local pharmacies show up. Enter the name of the drug you take, as well as the dose and number of pills. See what each pharmacy charges using GoodRx. They will vary widely. Boy, did I get a shock. It took me all of two minutes to call a new pharmacy and ask them to have the prescription transferred. Then I printed out the GoodRx coupon showing the pharmacy name, the drug and dose, the price and so on. I took that to the pharmacy and voila! Eighty dollars saved. Here are a few other ideas if GoodRx isn’t going to work for you: — Ask your doctor if a generic would be just as good, or if another drug would work just as well. — Find out if you qualify for the Extra Help program to pay for your drugs by calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213, or read the information at www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-0510508.pdf. — See if you qualify for the Pharmaceutical Assistance Program. (www. medicare.gov/plan-compare/#/pharmaceutical-assistance-program) — Get a different Medicare drug plan more in line with the drugs you take (www.medicare.gov/plan-compare). One note: You can’t use GoodRx along with a deductible from Medicare or Medicaid, but you can use it instead of those. Beware whether you’ll reach your annual deductible if you don’t use a Medicare drug plan or if you’re in the doughnut hole (cover gap) already.

Q:
I saw that Leah Remini is replacing Matthew Morrison as a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance.” I’ve always liked her, but does she even have professional dancing or choreography experience? — N.E. I have to say I was puzzled when I first heard that sitcom actress and anti-Scientology crusader Leah Remini will be judging a dance competition, but Fox is confident in her abilities. She’s also been a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” and even served as a guest host and judge on that same program. She’s also best friends with someone who certainly knows a lot about dance, the multitalented Jennifer Lopez. Remini doesn’t appear to have any reservations about accepting the job just in time for its 300th episode, saying that she’s a fan of the show and “can’t wait to see the artistry that the contestants bring to the stage!” In my opinion, Remini should make an excellent judge. She’s opinionated and hilarious, and she should fit right in with fellow panelists JoJo Siwa (“Dance Moms”) and “SYTYCD” alum Stephen “tWitch” Boss. Gone from the show are judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy. For those seeking familiarity, longtime host Cat Deeley has returned for the show’s 17th season. *** I heard that “Live PD” is finally coming back. Why did it go off the air in the first place? — H.S. “Live PD” was canceled two years ago during a time of national protests against police brutality, and also was accused of destroying video footage of a suspect who died in police custody. The A&E channel on which “Live PD” aired has stated, however, that it never was asked to turn over its footage, but that instead, the Austin Police Department investigated the incident using its own officers’ body cam footage. Whatever the reason, “Live PD” was canceled. Host and producer Dan Abrams recently announced that a new program is on the horizon, but it’ll have a different title and format. “One Patrol: Live” will air Friday and Saturday nights this summer on the Reelz

Leah Remini Network. According to “Entertainment Weekly,” changes to the show include giving “local residents, within the communities of the departments appearing on the show, a first-hand perspective as they ride along with officers followed by ‘One Patrol: Live’ cameras on live nights.” Abrams also promises that the new series will “promote transparency.” *** What is Jason Bateman going to do next now that “Ozark” has ended? — A.M. Now that his hit Netflix series “Ozark,” in which he starred and directed, has concluded, Jason Bateman isn’t staying idle for long. He’s part of an all-star cast in an upcoming untitled movie about the history of Nike’s pursuit of its partnership with NBA superstar Michael Jordan. Ben Affleck will do double duty this time as star and director, with Bateman co-starring as longtime Nike executive Rob Strasser. The film will be available on Amazon once it’s released. Did you know?
A growing emphasis on STEM has emerged within the educational sector over the last decade or more. Schools and students have put forth extraordinary effort into fostering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in curriculums and through personal pursuits. Although there are many proponents of STEM classes and careers, many people feel that creative endeavors, namely arts education, have been largely pushed aside in favor of STEM. But as evidence that arts-based learning has a positive effect on all aspects of education continues to mount — including improving students’ test scores on the SAT as well as in math and science — many educators are reintroducing art in schools. For example, prior to 2017, Mann Elementary School
in Detroit had not offered art classes in 20 years. By 2017, some art and music classes had been restored. Students in Lebanon, Penn. also are learning the importance of the arts through the STEAM concept. First implemented by the Rhode Island School of Design, the “A” in STEAM stands for “Arts.” STEAM encourages students to think not only analytically but creatively, essentially blending the best of math and science with the arts. A recent study from PayScale.com even notes that graduates obtaining art degrees from certain schools can expect healthy returns on their educational investments. This furthers the push for a reintroduction of arts education, as it indicates that a career in the arts can be a potentially lucrative pursuit.

Why do grads don caps and gowns?
Graduation ceremonies are steeped in tradition, the most noticeable of which may be the caps and gowns worn by students on hand to receive their degrees. This attire likely dates back to 12th century Europe, when students would wear hoods and gowns that resembled those worn by their teachers, who were members of the clergy. According to Colorado State University, in 1321 a statute of the University of Coimbra in Portugal declared that all “Doctors, Licentiates, and Bachelors” wear gowns. That means that
the mandatory graduation gown is on the cusp of celebrating its 700th anniversary. Hoods, caps and gowns not only signified a certain status of the students wearing them, but they also served a more practical purpose, helping to keep students warm in the unheated buildings where they were being taught. Ironically, many modern graduates, particularly those whose graduation ceremonies are held outdoors, may lament that their caps and gowns make them feel hot.

HOLLYWOOD — Great news! “Book Club 2: The Next Chapter” is currently shooting in Italy. Diane Keaton (76), Jane Fonda (84), Candice Bergen (76) and Mary Steenburgen (69) have returned, as have Andy Garcia, Don Johnson and Craig T. Nelson. But the men now have competition from Giancarlo Giannini, Hugh Quarshie and Vincent Riotta when the ladies take a long-desired trip to Italy, where things go off the rails and secrets are revealed. The first film cost $14 million to produce and grossed $104 million. Keaton has “Mack & Rita,” with Simon Rex, premiering Aug. 5, and “Maybe I Do,” with Emma Roberts, Richard Gere and William Macy. Fonda, whose last seven new episodes of “Grace & Frankie” are now streaming, voices the Dragon in Apple’s animated “Luck,” with Whoopi Goldberg and Simon Pegg, also Aug. 5, and the sports comedy “Eighty for Brady,” with Sally Field, Rita Moreno and Lily Tomlin. Bergen stars in the Mayim Bialik-directed film “As They Made Us,” with Dustin Hoffman and Simon Helberg, which is now streaming; and Steenburgen followed up the NBC series “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” with two episodes of “Grace & Frankie.” *** It’s kind of ironic, but for as long as pictures have been talking, actresses have been complaining that when they reach a certain age there are no good roles for them anymore. But times have changed and there are many actresses who’ve blown up that theory. In addition to the aforementioned actresses, the British royalty of acting, four Dames Judi Dench (87), upcoming in “Allelujah,” with Jennifer Saunders; Maggie Smith (87), currently in “Downton Abbey: A New Era”; Helen Mirren (76), “White Bird: A Wonder Story,” out Oct. 14, and “Shazam: Fury of the Gods,” Dec. 21; and Julie Andrews (86), who supplies her golden voice to “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” premiering July 1.

ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Be prepared to face some challenges stirred up by an envious colleague. Your best defense is the Arian’s innate honesty. Stick with the truth, and you’ll come out ahead. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Your sensitivity to the needs of others is admirable. But be careful to avoid those who would take unfair advantage of your good nature, especially where money is involved. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Having an optimistic attitude is fine, as far as it goes. But don’t be lulled into a false sense of confidence. There still are problems to deal with before you can totally relax. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) You might feel somewhat “crabby,” as you fuss over plans that don’t seem to work out. Maybe you’re trying too hard. Ease up and let things happen without forcing them. LEO (July 23 to August 22) Heed that keen Leonine instinct. It’s trying to tell you to delay making a decision until you’re sure there are no hidden problems that could cause trouble later on. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) This is a good time to reach out to those who might be nursing hurt feelings over recent events. Best advice: Ignore any pettiness that could delay the healing process.
LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Your understanding helps a colleague get through a difficult period. Although you didn’t do it for a reward, be assured that your actions will be repaid down the line. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) You score some high marks in the workplace, which will count in your favor when you face the possibility of changing direction on your current career path. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Your goal lies straight ahead. Stay focused on it and avoid distractions that could throw off your aim and cause potentially detrimental delays. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) Keep that burst of exuberance in check and resist pushing through your new project before it’s ready. In your personal life, a family member again needs help. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) Paying attention to your work is important this week. But so are your relationships with those special people in your life. Make time for them as well. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) Good news. Someone is about to repay a long-standing debt. But be warned. That same someone could try to charm you into lending it back unless you say no and mean it. BORN THIS WEEK: You are sensitive to matters that involve your home and family. You would make a fine family-court judge or social worker.

Facebook Contest Time! Paramount Pictures
Diane Keaton in “Book Club” Then there’s Sophia Loren (87), who scored last year in “The Life Ahead”; Shirley MacLaine (88), upcoming in “American Dreamer,” billed behind star Peter Dinklage; and Ann-Margret (81), recently in “Queen Bees,” with Ellen Burstyn, Jane Curtin, Christopher Lloyd and James Caan. *** Jerry Bruckheimer’s been very coy about plans for a sequel to “Top Gun: Maverick.” In view of the ginormous Memorial Day weekend grosses, the Paramount Pictures lot is buzzing that Bruckheimer has already assigned scribes to cook up plots for a sequel. “Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin is returning to filmmaking, co-starring with Rosamund Pike and Daniel Bruhl in Spanish director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia’s pandemic-themed thriller “Rich Flu,” about a deadly disease that starts killing off the richest people in the world. It first strikes billionaires, then multi-millionaires, etc. How does the flu know who is rich? (And thank heavens I’m not!)

• Keep your crisper drawer clean by lining with fresh newspaper. It will absorb smells and liquid, and can be easily replaced. • If it’s garage sale time, try this trick: Wrap a picture frame tightly with tulle. Then you can hang earrings from the tulle. Maybe someone will think it’s so cute that you’ll sell the frame, too! • When your cut-up fruit is about to expire and you don’t think you’ll be able to eat it in time, just freeze it for smoothies. Lay it out in a single layer and pop it in the freezer. When it’s frozen, you can put it in a zipper-top baggie for easy storage. • “Do you have a lot of coffee mugs? Maybe it’s time to show them off! My granny has so many coffee mugs from trips and that she got as gifts. My daddy put up five long shelves on one wall of her kitchen. They are the perfect place to line up and display all the mugs, and each one has a story, which is fun to hear.” — F.E. in North Carolina • “I have three girls and one bathroom, so there’s no way anyone gets ‘ready’ in front of the bathroom mirror. Instead, all the girls have a hanging shoe rack on the back of their door for makeup and hair supplies, and a mirror on the wall.” — P.W. in Oregon • Stubborn stains in the toilet?
