Question
OF THE Month
Compiled by Jan Weeks
What should everyone know about money?
Mike Carr – Clifton
“Whatever money you make, you only get 75 percent of it. The rest goes to taxes.”
Martin Stafford – Grand Junction
“Money can only be spent once. If you spend a twenty-dollar bill for this, you can’t spend it for that. You have to be conscious of how you’re spending your money.”
Carole Sneddon – Grand Junction
“As the Bible says, the love of money is the root of all evil. Money is meant to be shared. Getting more and more money just for the sake of having money isn’t using money wisely. Use your money to help those in need, and to be good to yourself, too.”
Bruce Welder – Grand Junction
“In order to make money less relevant in your life, you have to have a sense of ‘enough.’ You have to learn to separate your wants from your needs. Less stuff frees you for other things.”

World War II lost items returned after 76 years
Local veteran Joe Esquibel, a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army, was reunited with some personal items that were lost during the liberation of Czechoslovakia. Esquibel took part in the liberation of Western Bohemia in the Spring of 1945 during the end of Wold War II. He was guarding German POWs near Prague when he says his duffel bag was stolen. Seventy-six years later, several items belonging to Esquibel were discovered near Mariánské Lázně by a Czech reporter who then tracked Esquilbel down. The items included a silver bracelet, a service ribbon with a bronze star, a U.S. army lapel pin, and a Swiss coin. For more information, call 970-314-6582. Homeward Hounds offer shelter to homeless individuals and their pets

Roice-Hurst Humane Society and HomewardBound of the Grand Valley have teamed up to provide temporary shelter for people experiencing homelessness with their pets through the innovative Homeward Hounds project. The Homeward Hounds project allows houseless pet owners to sleep securely in a private room with their pets—something no other homeless shelter in the country accommodates. Thanks to a grant secured from PetSmart Charities, 10 petfriendly, climate-controlled shelters have been erected at HomewardBound’s North Avenue location. To learn more, call 970-985-7432. Construction begins on the Jac Kephart gallery
On December 17, The Art Center of Western Colorado (TAC) broke ground on the construction of the Jac Kephart Gallery. The fundraising campaign of $600,000 will provide for the building of a 1,700 square foot gallery in honor of Jac Kephart, the installation of a modern fire mitigation system, an upgrade to the permanent collection preservation and updates to the Gould Gallery. Additionally, it will provide a new space for education programs offered to the community. To learn more or donate, visit TAC’s website www.gjartcenter.org/kephartproject. Some cell phones won’t work in 2022
A lot of older cell phones using 3G, including the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S4, as well as many of the flip phones, will become obsolete in 2022 as mobile providers make the switch

to 5G networks. Some Tracfones, flip phones, Jitterbugs and even older-style smartphones will no longer be able to make calls once the networks are taken down. Most of these “third generation” phones were launched nearly 20 years ago and will no longer work with most carriers in 2022. Contact your mobile provider for more information about your phone and network retirement plan, as well as to discuss options for a new phone. Some carriers may be offering discounts for individuals needing different devices. For more information, call 303-333-3482.
