13 years after its inception, Holden continues to set the benchmark for style and quality. Founded in 2002 by professional snowboarder Mikey LeBlanc and designer Scott Zergebel as a result of a market that was offering “...boring, repetitive, and oddly fitting technical outerwear,” HOLDEN set out on a mission to create stylish garments that fit and functioned at a high level. The result was a disruptive brand that reshaped the look and feel of the technical outerwear industry. We have once again designed a collection based on the ethos of Timeless Quality™; enduring styles that last a lifetime, the love of the details, excellence in fabrication, and our continued dedication to eco-friendlier technologies and manufacturing processes. OUR UNIQUE DESIGN + DEVELOPMENT PROCESS HOLDEN is unique in that our design and development team is hands on with our products the entire way through the process. While many brands lose sight of an original idea as it is handed off from department to department, our designers and development team are one in the same, enabling them to handle our garments from initial conception to final product. Our collections start with a vision for a style we love and want to wear, and are often modern takes on tried-andtrue classic designs. These ideas are then brought to reality through our many years of expertise in building technical products, adding details that matter for extreme use, but staying true to the intended style.

ææ The right materials for each style and intended use are then chosen. Often a garment may have good style, but without a complimentary fabric or details, the feeling is lost. We evaluate the construction process, garment weight, waterproofing techniques, trims, etc, to ensure the perfect materials for the intended use and style are chosen.

ææ Color and trims are then applied. We often find inspiration in unexpected places for these; the color of a vintage car, an interesting button on a cool couch, or perhaps a vivid dream. Quality is always at the forefront of these decisions, as we want our garments to last many years both stylistically and functionally.

ææ The next step in the process is working on fit, which is a long and ever-changing exploration. We work with paper patterns and do numerous fittings on models throughout each design’s lifespan. Products are constantly tweaked until each piece has the consistent geometry to match its style and moves properly with you during your active pursuits.

THE HOLDEN FIT HOLDEN is committed to delivering the best fit in the business. With this approach, we’ve become known worldwide for bringing progressive streetwear style to the mountains and innovative outdoor performance to the streets.

OUR STEPS TO DELIVERING THE HOLDEN FIT 1. HOLDEN sends a collection of technical documents to the factory; sketches, patterns, photos and descriptions of styles, details, measurements, colors and everything else necessary to make the garment. 2. The factory uses this information to create a prototype, which they send back to us for an initial examination.

Since 2002 Holden has endeavored to improve our environmental impact by evaluating our whole process. When choosing materials, factory partners, and shipping options, we de-

termine the best ways to make the least impact and still deliver a top quality product.

3. Naturally, the prototypes are made to fit the people who work at HOLDEN and our advocates and friends. They are the official testers, and their assessments form the basis of the continuing process. We try on, tweak and work with pattern experts to make sure the HOLDEN fit is spot on for its intended use. 4. The adjustments are sent back to the factory, and we repeat these steps until each piece fits and functions just right. 5. Next the collection is sewn for exhibition at trade fairs and sales meetings. Meanwhile, work continues with further assessment and tweaking for final approval. 6. Only when we are 100% happy with a garment do we proceed to production. 7. Finally, HOLDEN arrives in stores and reaches consumers, where they can try on the perfected HOLDEN fit and find a new love.

JACKET FIT: We have a tailored fit that moves with you in the backcountry, but can transition to a casual night around town. Not too baggy, not too tight. The only variance you will find in our jacket fits is in the length; some are designed to be shorter or longer to match the intended style of the garment.

PANT FITS: This season we have developed 3 fits for our pants. The Skinny Fit is slim from top to bottom. It has a shorter rise, cut for movement, and added blowout protection through the addition of a gusseted crotch. HOLDEN was the first to offer a skinny pant for technical outerwear, and we still believe we have the best fit in the business. Delivering this styling is not as easy as buying a competitor’s design and sending it off to a factory to copy, or making a few changes to some measurements on a spreadsheet. The general rule is, the tighter the fit, the more pattern work it will take to make it fit and function. We put in the time, and know that you will feel & appreciate the difference it makes. The Tailored Fit has a comfortable rise, a slight taper through the hip and thigh, and is cut straight from the knee down. This is a straighter cut than the Relaxed fit, with more measurements and with a more progressive fit that moves with you. If you’re looking for a tailored fit that’s not too skinny, this one is for you. The Relaxed Fit has a relaxed and roomy rise, a spacious hip and thigh, and is cut loose from knee to ankle. This is an evolution of our standard fit, designed to be roomier and relaxed.

W- LAYERING Why change? That’s the question we asked ourselves when we started to design our new layering collection. After years of close inspection, we noticed that a lot of the technical layering on the market works really well. Unfortunately, we’d feel awkward wearing most of it before and after our chosen outdoor activity. HOLDEN’s layering collection will function with the best of them, but is designed to look current and fashionable wherever you are.

CUMULUS DOWN JACKET The Cumulus Down Jacket is so comfortable and warm it’s like wearing a sleeping bag. Wear it alone on a brisk day or as a cozy layering piece under your tech shell on cold, wet days. We’ve added our eco-friendlier DWR for water repellency. Packable into an interior pocket.
