5. Q How do I approach businesses for raffle prizes?

Answer:

1. Prove you are genuine. Once you’ve confirmed a date and venue for your event, our fundraising team can provide you with a letter of authority to support your request for support and prizes.

2. Make your request personal. If you have time, find out the name of the person you are contacting (maybe it’s on their website, if not just phone up the business and find out who to send the letter to). Addressing someone by their name means that you recognise them personally and can help get your request noticed!

3. Make your request relevant. Tell the business owner why you think a prize from them would be perfect for your event.

4. Tell the owner about the event. Saying that the business’ logo can also be on a programme or displayed on the prize table for everyone to see, may help the owner feel they are getting some business benefit beyond the pride of supporting a worthy cause.

6. Q Do I need to transfer the money from JustGiving over?

Answer: No, if you have set up a JustGiving page for your fundraising activity, the money comes directly to us.
