Installation Guide

Hard Set Adhesive Fixed Method:

• Aquis Vinyl Plank Flooring should only be installed by a licensed professional installer.

• It is the responsibility of the owner to select the method of installation.

• The installer must have a thorough understanding of the installation process and materials to be used.

• The owner must be satisfied with the ability of the installer.

• Site inspection must be performed prior to installation.

• The owner or installer must be satisfied that site conditions are appropriate for the installation of this product.

Due to site conditions or environmental conditions other methods of installation may be applicable. It is the owners / installer responsibility to determine which method is suitable.

Adhesive: (Hard Set Adhesive Fixed Method)

• It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to select the appropriate glue to be used for installation.

• Read carefully the adhesive manufacturers instructions and make sure it is suitable to be used.

• If you are satisfied with the glue chosen, follow the instructions carefully.

Site conditions must be considered when choosing the appropriate glue and installation method.

Aquis Vinyl Plank Can Be Used In:

• Residential & light traffic commercial use only.

• Aquis Vinyl Plank Flooring can be installed where there is underfloor heating. This warranty will not cover any issues caused by underfloor heating.

• Aquis Vinyl Plank is warranted for indoor use only and can be used in kitchens and living areas. It is not not suitable for use in bathrooms, shower cubicles, laundries or toilets.

Floor Preparation:

• Please follow the guidelines set out in Australian Building Regulations, AS 1884-2021

Pre-installation of Aquis Vinyl Plank:

• Aquis Vinyl Planks are manufactured to a high standard in terms of quality, stability and accuracy.

• It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to examine each plank carefully to make sure there are no visible defects in the planks.

• Defective product should be removed and not installed. Notify the seller of any defective product immediately.

• Some planks with small damage may be used in ‘off-cut positions’ where full planks are not required.

• Once the product has been installed it is deemed that the product has been accepted by the installer / owner.

Handy tips to assist installation:

Tools:

• 2-3m straight edge, chalk line, string line, commercial grade cutting knife, square, tape measure, hand roller, double sided tape.

Tips:

• Use a good quality knife with solid blade. Cut away from yourself. Mark the face of the plank. Cut / score the face of the plank.

• Use personal protective equipment (ears, nose, mouth and eyes) as needed. Use knee protection.

• Ensure the site is suitably ventilated.

• Ensure there is adequate light to perform the installation.

It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to ensure that all site safety rules are followed when performing the installation. It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to perform the installation in a safe manner to minimise any possibility of injury.

Substrate:

• Aquis Vinyl Planks can be installed over concrete, particle board (such as yellow tongue), plywood, cement sheeting, tiles or cork.

Tips:

• Make sure the substrate is dry, flat (3mm over 3m is recommended), free of any contaminates, free of any other obstacles.

• Make sure that the substrate is solid and secure.

• Make sure you select the appropriate glue for installation on the substrate.

Concrete:

• Make sure the concrete substrate is dry (<2.5% moisture content is recommended).

• Make sure the concrete substrate is flat (3mm over 3m is recommended).

• Make sure you apply an appropriate moisture sealer.

• Make sure your moisture sealer and glue are compatible for use together.

Timber:

• Timber substrate such as chipboard, plywood, timber.

• The timber substrate must be dry (<14% moisture content is recommended).

• Levelling may be required. Use appropriate levelling compound.

• Make sure you use the appropriate glue.

Tiles:

• Make sure the tiles are secure.

• Grout lines should / must be filled with suitable filler.

It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to make sure the substrate and glue used are suitable for the installation of this product.

Acclimation:

• Open the boxes on the day of installation. 1 - 2 hours acclimation is enough in most cases.

Storage:

• Delivery of boxes should be made 24 to 48 hours prior to installation.

• Boxes should be stored in a cool dry location (approximately 16 - 26 degrees celsius).

• Boxes should be stored on a flat surface.

• Do not stack boxes too high.

• Do not store or sit boxes vertically (up against a wall or similar).

Glue:

• We recommend using permanent hard set glue to install Aquis Vinyl Plank.

Tips:

• Use a good quality permanent hard set glue. Use a glue with moisture resistant barrier.

• Varied climate conditions on site may / will cause the planks to expand or shrink, therefore a good quality glue and installation process is essential.

Vinyl planks will / try to expand and shrink with changing climate conditions. Expansion and or shrinkage of the planks is not considered a defect. The amount of expansion or shrinkage of the planks is a result of conditions. There is no minimum or maximum expansion or shrinkage.

Starting:

• Make sure the planks are installed in a straight line. Do not use a wall as a guide as it may not be straight.

• Make sure you measure the room and cut the planks to the lengths that best suit the room size. Try not to leave very small planks at ends of rooms.

• Plan the installation and layout of planks.

• Install the planks in brick style pattern (staggered joints)

• Staggered joints should be approximately 300mm apart for best visual effect.

Care and Maintenance Guide

This document should be read in conjunction with our warranty document and our installation guide. Our warranty requires that proper cleaning and maintenance procedures be carried out during the lifetime of the product. Improper or inadequate cleaning and maintenance procedure will void related parts of the product warranty. The product warranty will become void if there are any visible signs of product abuse.

Please read this document carefully. Please make sure you understand the recommended procedures outlined in this document. If you do not understand any part of this document please ask for help from your seller or a suitably qualified and experienced installer.

Please use this guide to help keep your floor looking great for many years.

General site maintenance:

• Limit the exposure to harmful UV light. Use blinds, window dressing, window tint or other to minimise the harmful effect of prolonged UV light on your floor.

• Limit the exposure to excessive heat. Use air conditioners and or humidifiers to minimise the harmful effect of prolonged excessive heat on your floor.

• Keep room temperature range at 15 degrees Celsius – 25 degrees Celsius.

• Keep room humidity at an approximate range of 35%50%.

• Keep spare planks (if possible) to replace damaged flooring.

Cleaning:

• Always keep the floor as clean as possible.

• Remove spill immediately with an absorbent cloth or similar.

• Remove surface dirt and dust regularly using a vacuum cleaner with soft bristle head or sweep with a soft bristle broom.

• We recommend the use of a moist mop (or static mop).

• Do not use a wet mop.

• Do not use a steam mop.

• Use low alkaline cleaners. We recommend suitable BONA floor care products.

• Do not use ammonia or bleach.

• Do not use any product that may scratch the surface (steel wool or other).

• Do not use product that may dull the surface of the flooring.

• Scuff marks and stubborn stains may be removed by lightly rubbing with a cloth.

• Harsh fluids can also stain your flooring; products such as (but not limited to) dry cleaning fluids, lacquer, paint, nail polish, wood stains, varnish.

Cleaning:

• Clean frequently.

• Do not slide furniture or equipment on the floor.

• Use safe lifting methods to move furniture.

• Provide floor protectors under all furniture or equipment legs.

• Provide floor protectors under chair castors and products with rubber feet.

• Make sure the floor protectors are big enough to provide adequate protection to the floor.

• Replace the floor protectors periodically and make sure they are free of dirt or grit.

• Do not use wax or polish on the flooring.

• Avoid pet paws causing damage to the flooring. Keep pets’ claws suitably trimmed.

• Rugs or mats may cause the floor to appear different due to limitation of UV exposure and room conditions.

• Rugs or mats on the floor may scratch the surface or leave colour stains.

• Use mats or rugs in high traffic areas to minimise the wear on the floor.

• Debris stuck to the bottom of shoes can scratch the flooring.

• Avoid damage caused by high heel shoes and work boots.

• Use mats at entry points and encourage people to clean or remove their shoes before entry.

IMPORTANT

Before you open any boxes:

• Make sure you have received the product you ordered.

• Make sure the colour is correct.

• Do not open boxes if you are not sure if you have received the product you have ordered.

Visible damage:

• Take pictures of any damaged boxes / product.

• Take note of delivery date and time.

• Take note of product condition at time of delivery.

• Do not open boxes with visible damage.

• Report (in writing) any visible damage to the seller immediately.

Storing boxes:

• Boxes must be stored on a flat, level and smooth surface.

• Boxes must be stored in a dry location.

• Boxes must be stored in a consistent temperature between 10 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius.

• Boxes must not be stored in direct sunlight.

• Additional documents (warranty, maintenance and cleaning guide and relevant testing) are available upon request from the seller.
