At the gate, you leave everyday life behind. That’s why people travel to Bachelor Gulch, Colorado from all over the world, and many make it a tradition. The drama of rock and sky, the sheer grandeur of this place, is one reason. That it hosts North America’s only World Cup Race is another. It is also a place of intimacy. A private resort hidden from view, with the power to bring people together. “The consummate kid-friendly resort.” that’s what SKI Magazine has called Beaver Creek, and strolling though the square you can see why. It is a modern, custom-designed resort with the cozy, unhurried feel of a European Alpine village and rated the #1 resort in North America by Conde Nast Traveler. At this elevation the air is clear, and so are the taste buds. Here you’ll follow in the footsteps of gourmets and food critics. Here you can dine in a snow covered meadow, a pristine aspen glade, or a private museum. Beaver Creek regularly wins awards and accolades for its food, wine, service, lodging, safety standards and environmental efforts. It’s a resort where the staff are trained to not just provide what guests want, but to anticipate it. Beaver creek sets the standard of service and has been awarded for the third consecutive year “Best Guest Service” by the National Ski Areas Association. There’s a commitment to service, from lodging quality to ski school and lift operations. Escalators, heated walkways and even warm chocolate chip cookies after a day on the ski slopes along with other amenities are designed to pamper Beaver Creek’s guests and owners. Welcome to Beaver Creek, welcome to your Shangri-La.
If World Cup racers refer to Beaver Creek as their favorite place to compete, maybe there is something you should know. Every year, athletes and spectators alike migrate to our mountain top resort for the Birds of Prey Men’s World Cup. But that is only a slice of what Beaver Creek has to offer. From the gentle, manicured slopes of Bachelor Gulch, to the open intermediate trails of Larkspur and Rose Bowl, to the steeps bumps of Grouse Mountain, skiers and riders of all abilities will feel at home on our mountain. At Beaver Creek grooming is our passion. We groom twenty hours a day, seven days a week. Fifty-two operators work ten hour shifts at 11,000 feet behind a turbo diesel engine. The result, 776 groomed acres a day or a total of 106,000 acres per season of pure corduroy for your skiing pleasure. After you enjoy the sweetest, softest terrain in North America, don’t forget about those groomers taking their 3 AM lunch break to get the mountain ready for tomorrow. Your mountain is our backyard and experiencing nature is a privilege that we do our best to earn. Beaver Creek is 100% powered by wind, and recycles 1.4 million pounds of material every year. Even our trail maps are made with recycled paper. We hope you enjoy our mountain and look forward to making some turns with you.
SNOWBERRY
Long before ski runs were cut, there was a group of unmarried men who called what is now "Bachelors Gulch" home. Logging, grazing, trapping and hay farming took place during the 1900s until the Great Depression. John Anderson, Gunder Berg, Ed Howard, John Mertz and Ferdinand "Crippled" Smith were the original bachelors who settled the area. For nearly 50 years, no one lived in Bachelor Gulch as it patiently awaited rediscovery. Some of the original cabins of these men are still standing in Bachelor Gulch Village. In 1995, the Bachelor Gulch Village® of today was born, and now welcomes the next generation of pioneers to savor life "On the Mountain"™. Each visitor to Bachelor Gulch should be revitalized by this spectacular Rocky Mountain setting. With this in mind, the creators of Bachelor Gulch successfully executed a vision for a resort community that maximizes the ski-in/ski -out access to residences, yet retains the spectacular alpine ambiance for which this area is known. Bachelor Gulch is recognized as one of North America’s most exclusive mountain ski resorts. The architectural theme at Bachelor Gulch is, in many ways, inspired by the classic designs of the grand lodges throughout our country's national parks such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Glacier. Bachelor Gulch has successfully become a resort community in harmony with nature, from home designs to skier bridges. Capturing the essence of the surrounding mountain forest, design aspects include forged iron, dry stacked rock, dormer windows, log balconies, massive timers, and welcoming, covered porches. Incorporating the following three sources, the Bachelor Gulch Village architecture extends a distinctive American tradition; Adirondack - an enhanced, yet manicured sense of living in the woods. Arts and Crafts movement - drawing on centuries of craftsman handwork traditions developed over many cultures. Naturalistic - used in the landscaping and street scaping designs, where manicured lawns are minimized, and flower beds are populated with native wildflowers. Bachelor Gulch is the central point of the popular village-to-village ski experience that includes Beaver Creek to the east and Arrowhead Mountain to the west. Bachelor Gulch, located mid-mountain, is home to The Ritz Carlton Hotel and Spa. Many live near the mountains. Some live in the mountains. Few will ever live "On the Mountain"™

Located in the heart of the Beaver Creek Village, directly beneath the outdoor ice skating rink, our cultural complex hosts a variety of acclaimed artistic performances that one would expect to see at Carnegie Hall in New York or the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., but might not expect to find within walking distance of ski lifts, hiking trails and golf fairways. The intimate and inviting performance space was designed to exacting specifications to create perfect acoustics and unobstructed views from every seat. The founders of Beaver Creek had always imagined a central theatre since it was first projected as a resort community. In February of 1998, that vision was realized. With the opening of the Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek became the first mountain resort community in the world to include its own performing arts facility presenting an annual series of diverse cultural events. From the New York Philharmonic or Dallas Symphony Orchestra to a special concert by Sheryl Crow or Ringo Star you are certain be fully entertained. The building of the Vilar Performing Arts Center was financed by donors who are both full and part-time residents of the Vail Valley. This theatre has added yet another unique dimension to what is already one of the world's premier vacation and recreation destinations. A state-of-the-art facility, the Vilar Performing Arts Center contains a 530-seat theatre, two 2,200 square-foot lobbies and the 2,000 square-foot May Gallery Patrons Lounge. The Vilar Center's programming ranges from jazz, blues, country and classical concerts to contemporary and ballet dance troupes, comedy, theatre and family productions. The Vilar Center also hosts a number of community productions, awards shows and fundraisers for local organizations throughout the year.
