Courtesy Code for Shared Roads Cyclists:
Act like a vehicle on the roads. Bicycles have the same right to be on the road as a vehicle and the same responsibilities as well. Obey traffic laws, signs and signals. Don’t ride through stop lights or stop signs. Drivers are expected to adhere to the laws; drivers expect cyclists to do the same. Ride no more than two abreast when clear. Return to single file if riding two abreast will impede the flow of traffic, particularly on busy or curving roads or areas with narrow or no shoulders.
Drivers:
Per the law, drivers must give at least three feet of clearance when passing a cyclist. Drivers are allowed to cross the center line when it is safe to do so. Cyclists are allowed to use the travel lane if the shoulder is dangerous due to debris or hazards. Cyclists are allowed to take the lane in a roundabout. It is illegal to swerve at, buzz or throw things at bicyclists.
