EAGLE VAIL AVON, COLORADO NEIGHBORHOOD GUIDE

ABOUT EAGLE VAIL North of the Beaver Creek and West of Vail, the town of Avon stands out as one of the few areas in the Eagle County that isn’t directly connected to the resorts. While not as high pro le as some of their neighbors, Avon and its neighborhoods all share the fact that they are desirable places to live that have year-round access to some of the nest skiing and outdoor activities in the country. Not only is Avon a place for locals to live and shop, but it’s also ideal for the visitor who is looking to purchase needed goods or equipment more economically than in some of the resort towns. The town of Avon itself is one of the most important commercial areas — outside of the resorts — in the county. This is shown in the average age being quite young — 29. Here can be found many national chain stores as well as small manufacturing facilities, such as Liberty Skis. While there is no public transportation to the resorts, there is a shuttle system to link to the other nearby towns in the county. Not to be confused with the towns of Eagle or Vail (both in the same county), Eagle-Vail is a community within Avon along the Eagle River and Route 70. A major standout of this area is that a large percentage of the houses are second homes and that less than 30% have any children living here. As such, this has become an area that has been very attractive for Baby Boomers from other cities to purchase as a vacation or summer home. Wildridge is another community that is located north of Route 70. While it was created as an HOA community, it no longer has a board and is run just like any other suburban neighborhood. Compared to the town of Avon, short term leases are prohibited in the area, making it a close-knit community as those who purchase — or even rent — homes in the area tend to stay longer than in other areas.
