Beaver Creek Resort

Welcome to Beaver Creek Resort At the gate, you leave everyday life behind. That’s why people travel to Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch, Colorado from all over the world, and many make it a tradition. The drama of rock and sky, the sheer grandeur of this place, is one reason. That it is North America’s World Cup mountain is another. It is also a place of intimacy. A private resort hidden from view, with the power to bring people together. “The consummate kidfriendly resort.” that’s what SKI Magazine has called Beaver Creek Resort, and strolling though the village you can see why. It is a modern, custom-designed resort with the cozy, unhurried feel of a European Alpine village. At this elevation the air is clear, and so are the taste buds. Here you’ll follow in the footsteps of gourmets and food critics. Here you can dine in a snow covered meadow, a pristine aspen glade, a private museum. Beaver Creek Resort regularly wins awards and accolades for its food, wine, service, lodging, safety standards and environmental efforts. It’s a resort where the staff are trained to not just provide what guests want, but to anticipate it. Beaver creek sets the standard of service and has been awarded for the third consecutive year “Best Guest Service” by the National Ski Areas Association. There’s a commitment to service, from lodging quality to ski school and lift operations. Escalators, heated walkways and even warm chocolate chip cookies after a day on the ski slopes along with other amenities are designed to pamper Beaver Creek’s guests. Welcome to Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch, welcome to your Shangri-La.

The Mountain If World Cup racers refer to Beaver Creek as their favorite place to compete, maybe there is something you should know. Every year, athletes and spectators alike migrate to our mountain top resort for the Birds of Prey Men’s World Cup. But that is only a slice of what Beaver Creek has to offer. From the gentle, manicured slopes of Bachelor Gulch, to the open intermediate trails of Larkspur and Rose Bowl, to the steeps bumps of Grouse Mountain, skiers and riders of all abilities will feel at home on our mountain. At Beaver Creek grooming is our passion. We groom twenty hours a day, seven days a week. Fifty-two operators work ten hour shifts at 11,000 feet behind a turbo diesel engine. The result, 776 groomed acres a day or a total of 106,000 acres per season of pure corduroy for your skiing pleasure. After you enjoy the sweetest, softest terrain in North America, don’t forget about those groomers taking their 3 AM lunch break to get the mountain ready for tomorrow. Your mountain, is our backyard and experiencing nature is a privilege that we do our best to earn. Beaver Creek is 100% powered by wind, and recycles 1.4 million pounds of material every year. Even our trail maps are made with recycled paper. We hope you enjoy our mountain and look forward to making some turns with you.

Snowberry

History of Bachelor Gulch Long before ski runs were cut, there was a group of unmarried men who called what is now "Bachelors Gulch" home. Logging, grazing, trapping and hay farming took place during the 1900s until the Great Depression. John Anderson, Gunder Berg, Ed Howard, John Mertz and Ferdinand "Crippled" Smith were the original bachelors who settled the area. For nearly 50 years, no one lived in Bachelor Gulch as it patiently awaited rediscovery. Some of the original cabins of these men are still standing in Bachelor Gulch Village. In 1995, the Bachelor Gulch Village® of today was born, and now welcomes the next generation of pioneers to savor life "On the Mountain"™. Each visitor to Bachelor Gulch should be revitalized by this spectacular Rocky Mountain setting. With this in mind, the creators of Bachelor Gulch successfully executed a vision for a resort community that maximizes the ski-in/ski -out access to residences, yet retains the spectacular alpine ambiance for which this area is known. Bachelor Gulch is recognized as one of North America’s most exclusive mountain ski resorts. The architectural theme at Bachelor Gulch is, in many ways, inspired by the classic designs of the grand lodges throughout our country's national parks such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Glacier. Bachelor Gulch has successfully become a resort community in harmony with nature, from home designs to skier bridges. Capturing the essence of the surrounding mountain forest, design aspects include forged iron, dry stacked rock, dormer windows, log balconies, massive timers, and welcoming, covered porches. Incorporating the following three sources, the Bachelor Gulch Village architecture extends a distinctive American tradition; Adirondack - an enhanced, yet manicured sense of living in the woods. Arts and Crafts movement - drawing on centuries of craftsman handwork traditions developed over many cultures. Naturalistic - used in the landscaping and street scaping designs, where manicured lawns are minimized, and flower beds are populated with native wildflowers. Bachelor Gulch is the central point of the popular village-to-village ski experience that includes Beaver Creek to the east and Arrowhead Mountain to the west. Bachelor Gulch, located mid-mountain, is home to The Ritz Carlton Hotel and Spa. Many live near the mountains. Some live in the mountains. Few will ever live "On the Mountain"™

“Beaver Creek’s Leading Real Estate Company & Team”

Kenton Hopkins MRE, CRS, GRI Kenton Hopkins was enjoying a thriving real estate career in Minneapolis when a buddy invited him to ski Vail. That was in 1973. He’s still here. To say that Kenton fell in love with the Vail Valley is an understatement. “For me, there’s not a day that goes by without my senses being awakened by the natural beauty of this area,” he enthuses. Not that he spends all his time amid the wonders of nature. Kenton continued his real estate career joining Vail Associates Real Estate in 1986. He remained with the company’s Beaver Creek office when Vail Associates Real Estate merged with Slifer Smith & Frampton in 1994. For over twenty years Kenton has worked with hundreds of buyers and sellers completing transactions in nearly every development in Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch, two of the markets in which he specializes. Kenton’s dedication and enthusiasm is reflected in some impressive statistics. He is constantly among Slifer Smith and Frampton’s top five producing brokers, having successfully transacted over $600,000,000 in sales since 1986. Kenton cites several reasons for his success. First of all he has an intimate understanding of the resort in which he lives and offices. Also, Kenton has aggressively continued his real estate education earning a Masters in Real Estate (MRE), real estates most advanced degree. The high level of integrity and business ethics that he employs has allowed Kenton to cultivate significant longterm client relationships. He first listens well to a customer’s needs then understands their motivations, ultimately uncovering then demonstrating clearly how the property satisfies his clients needs. One of the most important phases of real estate is the closing and delivery of the property. Kenton has developed systems that allow these steps to go smoothly for both buyers and sellers. Ultimately, however, when choosing Kenton to represent you as a real estate agent, there are two key factors to remember: Kenton speaks and acts with integrity, he is impeccable with his word. He understands the needs of those he serve and works diligently on their behalf. Having sold property in every development within Beaver Creek, Kenton has the experience and knowledge to get your home sold in a timely and professional manner.

Stop by our office in the Highlands Lodge to meet Simba, as well as Kenton and Dave, your full service team in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Consistently Awarded as the Top Real Estate Brokerage Team in Beaver Creek for over 10 years.

David McHugh e-PRO Originally from the Morristown area of New Jersey, David McHugh has been living in the Vail Valley since 1992. He crossed the country to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder, taking classes in architecture and participating on the CU Ski Team. The entrepreneurial spirit caught him early, driving him to start a contractor business specializing in building and remodeling homes. All the while Dave has made sure to include skiing, snowboarding, telemarking, biking, and tennis in his life. Dave’s passion for everything surrounding the real estate industry combined with a love of the outdoors soon brought him to Telluride, Colorado. There he was a manager at a five star spa. Not long after Dave moved to his current hometown of Eagle-Vail, where he often enjoys a not so easily accessible out-of-bounds trek home via the extreme skiing Stone Creek Trail in Beaver Creek. Starting his Valley working career in a ski shop, Dave has worked in many different service industries. He has a strong background in architecture and building practices, and an extensive history of customer service. In 2001, Dave began working directly with Kenton Hopkins. Together, they have garnered positive relationships with everyone who walks through the door, keeping customer service at the fore of every interaction and leading Real Estate in Beaver Creek Resort. Dave loves what he does, and enjoys helping the people he meets. In his own words, “Real Estate is a relationship. It’s more than just one transaction; it’s a friendship.”

Simba Simba joined the team when he was two months old, and Simba is a true team player. He is always happy and ready to make you smile. While he takes commands very well, he has an independent streak. Simba, a purebred Golden Retriever, has been selling real estate for seven years.
