Felicita is an illustrator living in Rome. She decided to discover the world of art and illustration outside of formal institutions, taking inspiration from from contemporary art, philosophy, music, children, architecture and people on the street. Her work is featured in a number of magazines. It’s her recipe cards that I’m interested in. I love the format and the hand drawn/written quality. I’d like to take inspiration from this when making animal information cards. This style of illustration and format would target children, women and mothers.
Rebecca Kiff
Rebecca Kiff is a design-led homewares brand, for adults and children. I’m mainly looking at her work for the piece to the left, ‘British Birds’. I really like the layout and aesthetic. This hand drawn aesthetic is something I want to bring in to my own work. Looking at the cards and phone covers makes me think maybe my illustrations could be taken further in to different formats.
Becky Brown Becky Brown is an artist and illustrator. I love the loose, fluid paint work and the mix of paint and line. She also works in with pop up and papier mache but particularly focuses on animals. I like how the line work and paint work don’t completely match up as I feels more fluid and expressive. Adds a bit of character to just an average drawing.
Pippa Curnick Pippa is a freelance illustrator based in Buckinghamshire UK. Children’s illustration and editorial design are amongst her key interests, as well as typography and poster design. I like both the format and aesthetic of her work. My only negative is that they images are too busy and full compared to what I want to do. The hand drawn lettering really stands out to me as it’s something I want to try for this brief. Her work is really great for children and I want my pieces to appeal to both children, women and families.
