Visual and Conceptual Development

Sketchbook play – I felt the best way to start my practical and visual research was to loosen up in my sketchbook and draw.

I used a few dierent mediums to explore dierent means of drawing and had fun experimenting.

I explored both loose line work and block textured shapes

I experimented with dierent line quality and thickness.

I produced this for the zine brief and liked the process and visual quality. I decided that I wanted to take this process further into this module.

These illustrations were informed both by my sketchbook pages and the crab illustration. These then became final images.

I drew all the utensils and pots I could think of, exploring dierent shapes. This late informed my digital work.

The drawings of the utensils later informed this digital drawing. This goes on to become a main piece of illustration in my project. These were all taken and developed from sketchbook drawings.

This is an example of how my sketchbook development has directly informed my finished digital outcome.

These are examples of further sketchbook play where I loosened up my practice.

This is the strongest example of how much digital work was informed by my sketchbook work. I developed my original playful drawings in to finish digital outcomes but copying and refining the shapes, texture and colour.
