It is one of my favorite lines, “God doesn’t use us to get mission done, he uses missions to get us done.” It is my ernest belief that this is true! Every mission pilgrimage I’ve completed has in some way put a piece of my heart and spirit in place. The lives I’ve touched and those who’ve touched my life remind me that this world is not about comfort and pleasure. It is my desire to serve and it is a feeling that is incomparable. This potluck will serve as a chance for you and your family to hear first hand accounts of those who have been sent to the nations or those who are planning a trip. Come to the Potluck Sunday, March 11 at 5:30 in First Hall to help us celebrate the impact our missions make and the fantastic group that have signed up to be Sent to the Nations. Join us in storytelling and group discussion on the impact of our mission work in our community and beyond.
This will be a chance to praise and celebrate how the Lord has worked in the lives of people you know and love, and maybe even in you. Childcare is provided. NEO is a new 4 week class designed to be a non-threatening introduction to the basic ideas and concepts of Christianity. NEO will run on Sunday nights from April 15 through May 6. If you have a unchurched friend who might be interested, we encourage you to invite him or her and consider taking the class with them sometime this year. New Church Plant at FPC – The Urban Circle
Jim Wood and guest speakers will guide us through discussions on critical issues that every man faces in his life. Regardless of your age or marital status, these discussions will provide valuable insights into the challenges of being a Christian man in the 21st century. Come and enjoy a full breakfast, great fellowship and a challenging message about being the "point man" in your home.
FPC is partnering with The Urban Circle to help plant a church in Norfolk that will specifically target the urban community of Park Place. We are very excited to host this new outreach in our own First Hall! Antipas Harris, a professor at Regent’s School of Theology, is leading this new congregation. If you would like to contact him to offer support or talk about being involved, his email is antipas@theurbancircle.net. This new worshipping body will meet for the first time on Saturday, March 17th, and will continue to meet regularly on the 3rd Saturday of the month.
