abstract

deoghar is a major city in jharkhand , india . it is a holy sacred place of hinduism . it is one of the 12 jyotirlingas sites of hinduism. the sacred temples of the city make this a place for pilgrimage and tourists . the temple complex is spread over an area of about one acre , comprises the main temple of baba baidyanath where the auspicious jyotirlinga is installed in its garbhagriha , with 21 other temples populating the complex .

baba baidyanath temple is one of the oldest and undisputed center of shaivik pilgrims in eastern india. the current facilities development and increasing cultural activities like the grand shiv baraat and bilvapatra competition have attracted attentions world-wide

the current encroachment and unhealthy commercialization of the area surrounding the temple complex has made this significant place lost its charm.

“the “openness”, “integrity”, “unstructured aesthetics’ were the key essentials of this place since starting. the current situation of the site is incapable in catering the huge crowd burst during the shravan mela, an annual event 60 days long

the term ‘kanhar’ means the ‘carrier’, especially holy water to lord shiva. our proposed circuit facilitates and enriches the experience of the pilgrims, locally called as ‘kanhariyaas’ and thus is the name. we offer this design as ‘kanhar’ to carry the devotees to the lord himself!

our aim is to “restrict the encroachment and structure the commerce around the lanes, and develop a space that provide them all the vibes this place owns and give the users, visitors and stakeholders a fair chance to mould the usability of the place.

the hotel is located amidst the vibrant patratu - rajbhawan road, where it proudly stands as a verdant hotel, seamlessly connecting its guests with the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. the site spans over an area of 4.42 acres.ranchi, renowned for its picturesque hills and soothing waterfalls, serves as a wellspring of inspiration for this establishment.

the hotel’s design and construction pay homage to nature, allowing visitors to behold the awe-inspiring hills that encircle it, while also infusing a sense of tranquility into the bustling urban setting.

the hotel with its green ethos and seamless integration into the natural surroundings, welcomes visitors to a haven where the splendor of the hills, the serenity of waterfalls, and the resilience of sustainable design come together to offer an exceptional experience. the facade of the hotel features a combination of corten steel and composite wall panels, chosen as the primary materials for their aesthetic appeal and durability. to ensure effective roof insulation, cellulose fiber has been utilized, providing efficient thermal regulation within the building.

the incorporation of small terraces on the upper floors serves the purpose of fostering interaction with the external environment. these inviting spaces encourage guests to engage with the surrounding scenery, allowing them to appreciate the natural beauty while enjoying the comfort of the hotel.

in line with sustainable practices, the hotel implements a comprehensive rainwater harvesting system. this system collects the rainwater accumulated on the site, utilizing it as a valuable resource. furthermore, the greywater generated within the premises is recycled through an onsite sewage treatment plant. the treated water undergoes purification, subsequently enabling its use for flushing toilets and landscaping purposes. this mindful approach towards water conservation contributes to the hotel’s eco-friendly initiatives and promotes responsible water management.

the mentioned site is situated in patna, occupying an area of 3.38 acres (13,728 square meters).

the main idea behind the design was to seamlessly integrate the surroundings and the structure itself, creating a harmonious composition. to achieve this, a slanted rectangular rooftop has been added, which extends beyond the building and creates an outdoor seating area for reading, recreational activities, and a space for children to play.

the inclined rectangular rooftop not only serves as a unique architectural feature but also acts as a unifying element that ties the building and the outdoor space together. this innovative design choice creates an inviting atmosphere, encouraging visitors to explore and engage with the surroundings.

moreover, the outdoor seating area, thoughtfully incorporated beneath the extended rooftop, invites individuals to immerse themselves in quiet reading, enjoy recreational pursuits, and provides a safe and playful space for children. the blend of these functional aspects enhances the overall user experience, fostering a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

the central courtyard, nestled within the structure, plays a vital role in infusing the space with natural light and ventilation. this well-designed area becomes a focal point, radiating an aura of warmth and brightness throughout the building. its strategic placement allows for a visual connection with the surrounding spaces, creating a sense of unity and coherence.

as a result, the site in patna becomes a haven where architecture and nature coalesce, harmonizing to create a serene and inviting environment. the combination of thoughtful design elements, spacious outdoor seating, and the central courtyard’s interplay of light and openness contribute to a truly remarkable and peaceful atmosphere for all who inhabit and visit the space.
