Dear business partner,

We find ourselves in a positive market, but also one that is continuously in motion. Customers will find their way to the shop but are also familiar with the way to fulfil their needs online. Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram play a great part in this. It has led to a great transparency and given access to many suppliers. What is important here is ease of use and a reliable delivery. Your shop is thus challenged to add something that is not offered online. Matters such as perception, choice, renewal, the latest trends, advice and services that consumers may require. Research has shown that this is what consumers needs when visiting a shop. BeddingHouse would like to help you with this, which is why we have again researched the identity of the BeddingHouse brand and the result is that we have strengthened and re-established it. In this way we have given everyone a tool with which to present this experience in the shop, to simplify the process of choice and to increase the advisory role. The renewed BeddingHouse brand is a compilation of stories (experiences) such as ‘Evening Gold’ and ‘Sunday Brunch’. We try to present these stories in words and images and have altered the packaging to accommodate this. The website and any other brand expressions will be renewed resulting in the cancellation of familiar concepts such as BeddingHouse Studio and BeddingHouse Ivory. These stories are translated into complete shop presentations where the point of departure is the consumer’s perception. We hope it will inspire you to make the presentation even more appealing to the consumer. BeddingHouse will put great effort into providing the right tools to strengthen the shop presentation such as this brand book, styling guidelines and other material. Our advice to you would be to really get going with this and you can, of course, rely on the extensive support of our sales team. In this way we can both prepare ourselves to serve our customers in a world where they can decide to make a choice at any place and at any given time, and then to have it delivered according to their wishes.

Lazy Weekend The best day of the week Saturday morning, half past nine. The alarm clock has a day off. What wakes us is the rattle of the letterbox when a big Saturday newspaper hits the mat. Slightly reluctant we leave our warm bed for a joint breakfast and large cappuccino. The kitchen smells of coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and toast. The sun beckons and we can’t wait to get outside That ultimate Saturday feeling; pretending that we’ve never meandered through our own city before. We go down streets and alleys we’ve never been before; we browse the various magazines in a kiosk and pay a visit to a recently opened concept store. Woollen blankets, jewellery, cook books and paperware are displayed on long wooden tables. Arts and prints adorn the walls. At the back of the building we discover a coffee corner with benches from the seventies, which makes a great location for a late lunch. We sit down with a

sandwich, salad and homemade lemonade. We browse the various magazines as we loudly express our doubts about eating in or out. Afterwards we have to rush for groceries. We arrive at our favourite coffee place with bags full of goodies and conclude the afternoon with a spicy chai latte. Once home, we switch on the oven for a simple stew. Then we open a bottle of lovely wine and that’s it, the work is done. All we need to do is light candles, select music and enjoy a lazy Saturday that seems to go on forever. Tonight, when it’s late and we’re in bed, we can look back on a most enjoyable day.

Sunday Brunch Sunday morning bliss; Early this morning I snuck downstairs while the others were still asleep. After a strong cup of espresso I started the brunch preparations by kneading dough for the apple pie, peeling the apples and sprinkling them with cinnamon and sugar, after which I baked some chocolate croissants and prepared the batter for little pancakes. The kitchen smells of Sunday morning bliss. I set the table with grandmaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s tableware and light the little tea lights. The centrepiece is a vase with pale pink anemones and fragrant eucalyptus leaves. When I take the apple pie out of the oven, the doorbell rings. My nephews and niece tumble in, one after the other, immediately followed by my brother-in-law who holds a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a bottle of bubbly in the other. My sister closes the door behind her and hands me a large dish

filled with homemade cranberry muffins to be set out amongst all the other goodies. While I help the children make and decorate the pancakes, I cast my eye over the table and I smile when I see the happy faces of my parents and burst out laughing at the macho stories of the men. All of us, from the young to the old, are hooked on this winter tradition. I place the wine in a cooler and in my mind I already raise my glass to a beautiful memory of just another Sunday morning in December. When Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m in bed in the evening and look at the photos on my tablet, the day passes before my eyes in slow motion and once again I enjoy the atmosphere, the lovely laid out table and the feeling of great companionship. Home is where love lives and family is always welcome.

Inspirational Madrid Magical Madrid; About one or two in the morning Madrid’s nightlife gets underway and becomes one big party, even in the streets. People promenade, dance and have a great time. We danced to our heart’s content on the dance floor of an old factory turned into lounge club and by the time we walked back to the hotel, it was getting light. Although we slept for only four hours, a simple breakfast of a sweet croissants and café solos on a terrace in the sun was enough to get going again. Madrid buzzes each day. We meander from gallery to record store and from a vintage shop to a design studio. One moment we’re in a cool basement, filled with pastel coloured concrete and hip fashion labels and the next we’re at an alternative food market. This weekend’s mission is the former barracks of the Royal Guard in the Malasaña quarter where a young artist exhibits huge collages; works of several

metres with bright coloured strips of paper and almost savagely painted texts. All that colour, energy and passion makes my heart beat faster! Once we’re outside again, it is dark and the time has come to enjoy our last evening in Madrid. We wouldn’t want to miss a second of anything that is happening here. We’ll sleep when we get home. After we’ve unpacked our suitcases, the colourful inspiration of Madrid finds a place in our home and in our heart.

Business Trip Bright lights, big city. The entire family was still asleep when I left at six o’clock this morning. If you leave early enough, there’s no hassle in trying to get to the airport. No traffic jams on the orbital motorway, the planes will still have seats left and all the delays of the day will not yet have accumulated. After about 45 minutes London City Airport came into view below me. The trip went according to schedule, giving me just enough time to drink an espresso at Caffè Nero before jumping in a taxi to Canary Wharf. I was hoping to leave prototypes of some young Dutch designers with the prospective customer I visited today. He is very interested in Dutch design and found my presentation quite impressive, but wanted some time to think it over. Although these kinds of days are exhausting, the city buzz always boosts my energy. Soon I’m to meet up with an old college friend

at The Gun, a gastropub located on the Thames. I’ve just received a message saying that he’s on his way. This gave me enough time to have a beer on the terrace and enjoy the atmosphere of the area; the office tower lights and cranes across the river, the lights of passing boats and the murmur from the restaurant behind me; it all just made it very special. Tomorrow I’ll know if my new client will take his chances with me. Talk about keeping someone in suspense! Rest assured that once I’m home I’ll tumble straight into bed, deadtired!

Holiday Memory Mostly sunny; On the wall in my bedroom hangs a collage of holiday photos. All it takes is one look and I’m back walking the narrow streets of Cassis. I laze about on a terrace under the sycamore trees and then meander the market with a big wicker bag. After eight long summers there I know the place like the back of my hand and our favorite restaurant always welcomes us with open arms. I’m in love with the south of France. I’m in love with the intense sunlight, the smells and colors. The minute I see the Mediterranean Sea, my heart leaps and all my worries disappear in the blink of an eye. With each homecoming, I am well-rested, have a great tan and a suitcase filled with beautiful memories. I buzz with energy and am more than ready for the start of a new school year and the daily commotion of work, sports clubs, full laundry baskets and coats lying about, satchels,

hockey sticks and football shoes. A beautiful interior makes me happy although that doesn’t mean that everything has to be spick and span. I find individuality far more important, our house is lived in and it shows. I follow the fashion trends and the same goes for trends in interior design. In addition, I have a fickle personality and absolutely love change. There is so much that inspires me. When the days grow shorter and it gets chilly outside, I try to hang onto the summer with bright colors and sunny rituals; freshly-washed bedding, croissants for breakfast, a jug of freshly squeezed orange juice. And then, when the sun appears, it briefly feels as if I’m back on holiday again. Even in December.

Favorite Moment Winter Ritual; Friday afternoon, half past three; time for tea and a good book. After a day of lead-grey clouds, the sun suddenly breaks through. I move my lounge chair near the bay window so I can warm myself in the last rays of sun, and then a pillow at my back, my feet on the ottoman and a tray with some goodies within reach. The filtered light spreads a soft glow throughout the bedroom. I enjoy the monochrome shades, the calm that envelopes me, the view of the garden. Winter is on its way. At times the temperature is below freezing and the bare trees are sharply silhouetted against the light-grey sky. It's comfortably warm inside and I have all the time in the world. The house is tidy, the beds are made with freshly washed bedding, a vase with fresh flowers adorns the table and all the weekend shopping is done. I take small sips from the hot strong tea

and nibble from the dish holding pieces of dark chocolate and dried sweet figs. Then it's time to become absorbed in my book which is a compelling psychological thriller. When it's almost too dark to read I look at the clock. Five-thirty. The house is still quiet but tomorrow it will be filled with noise. The kids will come home for the weekend with stories about lectures, exams and college friends. In about half an hour I'll go to the kitchen and cook a meal for the both of us. First things first, though. I first have to figure out who the murderer is.

Winter Woods The first snow; the air tingles and smells fresh. After dressing up warmly in woollen sweaters, hats, scarves and boots, we go out to walk and play in the snow. When we were sleeping last night, the snowflakes dropped from the sky, hour after hour, until the ground was covered with a dense and downy blanket. The children run ahead of us with great energy and are excited about the white world that surrounds them. Black branches powdered with a thick layer of snow, contrast sharply against the sheer blue sky. Our breath forms small vapoury clouds when we talk and laugh. Calmly and peacefully we walk the narrow forest tracks to the frozen lake; the wind colors our cheeks red and the sun makes the icy surface look like diamonds. I’m in love with the wintry landscape that surrounds us. The white frost adorns the forest with icy crystals and the snow dampens

the sounds and brings the world to a standstill. Although it’s great being outside it’s just as great to go home. Swap our ski pants for soft flannel pyjamas, put extra logs on the fire, light the candles and enjoy a steaming bowl of soup. With woollen slippers on and tucked away under comfy plaid blankets we make ourselves comfortable on the sofa while, as we listen to the crackle of the smouldering logs, the smell of cooking apples, cranberries, cinnamon and cloves from a tasty oven dish spreads through the house. This is our house. This is the place where the fire burns when it’s cold outside and where a soft bed awaits us to keep us warm during the night.

Evening Gold New York State of Mind. Many months ago we decided to spoil ourselves with a visit to New York. It was supposed to be the trip of our dreams. Due to its breathtaking views, this hotel was at the top of our list. Our suite has floor to ceiling windows. From the king size bed you can see Central Park, the foliage of its trees resembling a sea of golden yellow and copper hues. We were out there this morning, a pumpkin latte in hand and crackly withered leaves underfoot. It was the beginning of an enchanting day; cool air and a bright autumn sun. We meandered through the city for hours – along art galleries in the hip TriBeca, the small shops in NoLIta and those enchanting department store Christmas window displays on Fifth Avenue. While running a bath, I set out my clothes for this evening; a stylish little black dress and matching high heels bought in a downtown

boutique. I’m looking forward to the coming evening; champagne in the Lobby Lounge on the 35th floor followed by fine dining in the adjacent restaurant. We have booked a table at the huge window with panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline. Sitting on the edge of the bed I gather up my hair and put on my earrings. The little diamonds sparkle in the light of the lamp. By now it’s grown dark outside. The moon looks like a big copper sphere glued against the night blue sky and wherever I look, lights twinkle. Already New York is magical and the evening hasn’t even started yet.

Fresh Start It was 2.30 last night when I slung my bicycle against the tree in front of our apartment block, climbed five floors, and threw myself on the bed. We’d met up with a bunch of girlfriends straight after work – every Friday we try a new restaurant, and last night we’d decided on a recently opened living room restaurant. We instantly fell in love with the laidback atmosphere, comfy cushioned sofas, small enticing bites, jugs of water with lemon balm, and the refined vegetarian dishes laid out on our table. Just after midnight, the owners waved us off and we cycled on to our local pub for ‘one last drink’... While I stretch out, I check the alarm clock. Usually, by now I would be finished with my lap around the park, and I’d be waiting in line, freshly showered, at my regular breakfast place for a soy latte to go. But today it’s Saturday, and everything happens in slow motion.

I pull the duvet up to my chin and turn over one more time. Later I’ll have a breakfast bowl with granola and fresh fruit, I’ll pull on my sneakers and run those miles anyway, to start the day fresh. But first, I’ll doze a bit longer, daydream and listen to some music. I want to enjoy the rays of sunshine peeking through the curtains, and the tranquillity of the most wonderful place in the world. The soft colours, the comfortable cushions, the sheepskin on the floor, the dreamcatcher over the bed and the fresh bed linen: I love it all.

A Heroâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Tale One night while lying in my bed, snugly tucked beneath my duvet cover which was adorned with countless stars, I dreamt I was a hero. A strong and invincible hero, just like in my favourite cartoon film. In my dream, I walked through a dark forest, where I could hear the roaring and stomping of various dinosaurs in the distance. The ground rumbled and the trees shook as a huge brontosaurus came near. I jumped to the side and felt as small as an ant, but I was not afraid. I was a hero, after all! As I walked further along, I saw a castle looming overhead between the tall, bare mountains, which had peaks as sharp as spearheads. Behind it was a giant, mighty pirate ship adrift on a large and almost endless sea. The ferocious pirates had come to the castle to demand a treasure chest full of gold coins, but the knights had hidden the chest on a deserted island and marked the spot on a secret map. The powerful knights fought like brave heroes against the pirates. Fire-breathing dragons attacked the castle from the air and the ground. They wanted to conquer the castle and defeat the knights. It was a really exciting battle. Swords clashed, firing cannons thundered in the sky and horses whinnied and reared up in fear. Of course, I fought along with the knights as a hero. After a long day, as it began to get dark, the pirates finally had to surrender. The dragons, still breathing fire, disappeared into the distance with the pirates, never to return again. That evening, after the drawbridge was raised and the gates securely locked, we had a celebration that lasted late into the night. We ate big chunks of roasted meat, licked our fingers and gulped down super strong knightly drinks. Far, far away, flying dragons circled high in the dark night sky. If there is ever a night when you are lying in bed and you feel like a hero, and maybe your window is open just a crack, open your curtains a bit. If you listen closely, you may hear the roaring and stomping of dinosaurs and dragons, and the clashing of swords in the distance. And if you look up, you will see countless stars in the sky, and perhaps a whole new world of heroes behind them waiting to be discovered. A Princessâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Tale One night, as I lay in my four-poster bed, I dreamt I was a princess. It was my birthday and I was sitting on my golden throne. Mom and dad looked really posh, with beautiful crowns on their heads and gorgeous clothes. The entire palace was filled with the delicious aroma of freshly baked cake and garlands with hundreds of different hearts hung from the ceilings of the grand halls. There were big hearts and little hearts and pink hearts and red hearts, all decorated with flowers and little buttons. Mom and dad gave me the most wonderful princess gown, the kind I could only have wished for. It was a lovely pink, covered in ribbons, beads, sparkling glitter and roses that smelled like sweet meringue. They gave me shiny, gold princess shoes and a diamond crown. I put on my new dress and gold shoes and placed my birthday crown on my head. Oh, I felt so beautiful! I felt like the luckiest princess in the whole world. That night, when all my friends came to my party in their carriages with snow-white horses, we danced in the huge ballroom. The lanterns glowed softly in the evening light. Tiny, little figures in pink, lavender and light-blue dresses danced in the air around the lanterns. These were the fairy princesses, who sprinkled gold stars and little daisies that gently floated down to the ballroom floor. We danced and danced until we became dizzy. We ate a big pink cake that was so tall it nearly fell over. Little sugar roses sat atop the cake, in the most beautiful colors you could possibly imagine. They all tasted wonderful and sweet. We nibbled on cupcakes with hearts on them and drank princess lemonade filled with gold glitter. If there is ever a night when you are lying in bed and you feel like a princess, and maybe your window is open just a crack. If you listen closely, you might hear the clatter of carriage wheels, the clip-clop of horseâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s hooves on the road and some cheerful dance music in the distance.
