Our story We are Bedding House, a Dutch family business specialized in designing and distributing bed and bath linen. We offer trendy brands in bed and bath textiles, based on knowledge, passion and craftmanship. Our aim is to create the perfect sleeping experience. By following the latest trends in colour and design that respond to the consumer’s desire, to upgrade their bedroom or bathroom and give it a modern look. And by offering the right and innovative qualities we create an ultimate combination between trends and comfort.

Dear business partner, The spring/ summer ’24 collection is created with the aim of letting people experience the benefits of a good night’s sleep. The collection once again features various qualities, allowing the customer to select the one that best suits their sleeping needs. Our fabrics include lyocell and seersucker for a comfortable night’s sleep, even during warm summer nights.

Beddinghouse - Duvet covers The ideal fabric for the summer is seersucker. It is a lightweight cotton fabric that breathes well and feels cool on the skin. Unique this season, is the print we have developed on the seersucker material. Curious about the result? Check out page 28 for the Gracia Pastel, and on page 58, you’ll find Tess Ochre.

Beddinghouse - Fitted sheets Beddinghouse has enhanced the fitted sheet collection. All the fabrics: jersey, jersey stretch and percal now feature ‘top side labels’. These top side labels indicate which side of the fitted sheet is the topside. You can see at a glance how to put the sheet on the mattress. It is that easy! Furthermore we have improved the quality of our jersey fitted sheets, by a different method of processing. Feel the difference! It is even softer and has a beautiful shine. The existing colours of our fitted sheet collection have also been renewed. We left out some colours, improved colours and also introduced some new colours.

With all these changes, the packaging, of course, could not be left behind. The fitted sheets are packaged in a reusable, fabric bag of the same quality as the fitted sheet. Ideal to feel and experience the fabric and for reuse purposes. To introduce the consumer to our improved fitted sheets, we will be using various marketing tools. New developments As previously mentioned, Bedding House aims to help people experience the benefits of a good night’s sleep. Behind the scenes we are developing a new brand within our Bedding House family. Last season, we indicated that we would introduce two new brands, and this season, we have. Freek Vonk’s collection takes children on a journey into his wonderful world full of adventures and his favourite animals. They can cuddle with snakes or dream of a safari under one of the cool duvet covers. But perhaps there are also daredevils who want to take a plunge with Freek Vonk among the sharks. Exclusive bedtime stories The duvet covers and accessories of Freek Vonk are inspired by his own adventures and knowledge. We like to share these stories with his biggest fans! On each product and packaging they can scan a QR-code that will lead them to multiple audio stories and reading stories*. A unique way to fall asleep with the enchanting stories of Freek, voiced by himself. Freek Vonk is more than a biologist and scientist. “Freeks Wilde Wereld” has been one of the bestwatched children’s television programmes on Dutch television for years. Alongside this, Freek has his own magazine “Wild by Freek”, live shows every Christmas holiday called “Freek Vonk Live”. And there is also the toy line “Freeks” and several children’s books are published every year in the series “Freeks Wilde Avonturen”, containing the most beautiful and exciting stories from nature. The collection comprises high-quality bed textiles, including cotton satin duvet covers and pillowcases specially designed for the Silvana Support pillow line with shoulder contour. Innovative beauty collection Additionally, we also introduce the innovative beauty collection, which includes pillowcases made of mulberry silk and enriched with UMORFIL® Beauty Fiber®, known for their luxurious appearance and benefits for hair and skin.

Sustainability

Already years ago, Bedding House initiated a policy to contribute to a better and more sustainable future. We choose to focus on Product, People and Packaging. Product Bedding House strives to achieve sustainability in the entire production line and the aim is to include the entire process - from the plant to the product - in this goal.

During the designing phase of these duvet covers, thought was given to what happens to these products after long-term usage, in terms of sustainability. ‘Design for recycling’ is key for Beddinghouse, minimizing the necessity of new raw materials in the future. These duvet covers are literally designed to be recycled, which means that even after frequent use, new yarns can easily be made from the fabric of these covers in order to create new beautiful products.

What we do Beddinghouse has introduced a modern white story, called ‘Sillence’. It is ‘designed for recycling’.

Our sustainable line called Beddinghouse Care provides more sustainable alternatives than regular cottton, such as bamboo, lyocell and

recycled cotton. what is equally important is that, is that these materials provide the perfect sleeping experience. The Beddinghouse Care line is completed with Organic Basics, made of organic cotton carrying the GOTS quality label. Our brand Beddinghouse Dutch Design carries the Global Organic Textile Standard quality mark as well. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. An assessment is made to ensure that the entire production process, from harvesting to the final product, is environmentally friendly and socially responsible. This includes reducing water and energy consumption, prohibiting child labor, and providing a safe and hygienic working environment. Bedding House has been a proud partner of Better Cotton since 2016. Better Cotton’s mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment. By buying cotton products from Bedding House you’re supporting responsible cotton production through Better Cotton. Last but not least our products are also Oekotex certified. Which means that no harmful dyes and pesticides have been used. This is better for the environment, your health and also gentle on your skin. People We support projects at home and abroad that are primarily concerned with the well-being of people. Bedding House’s products are made in Pakistan, India, Turkey and China and we select our manufacturers in these countries with great care to ensure that good working conditions are in place. We also visit our manufacturers regularly to ensure that products are made to our specifications. Bedding House is supporting Mercy Ships since 2019. Mercy Ships is an international organization providing free medical care in developing countries on board of the largest non-governmental hospital ships of the world. Our sponsorship consists of providing bed textiles for the hundreds of hospital beds on the ship.

PVC-free packaging Packaging Bedding House is highly aware of the adverse effects of plastic on our planet. In order to reduce the usage of PVC, it is our objective to package all our products 100% PVC free. Rethinking the way we design our packaging is one step further down the road to a cleaner environment and a sustainable future. We have already successfully developed sustainable packaging for most of our brands, and are committed to ensure this for all of them in the near future. More to come We will continue searching more sustainable and innovative solutions, since it is an ongoing process. Feel the quality of the fitted sheet on the outside. 2. The bag provides a good colour reference. 3. Recognisable icon on the side of the packaging with stripes to indicate whether it is a fitted sheet, a topper, or a split-topper. 4. We want to minimise the impact of our products on the environment and therefore strive to use sustainable materials. Our main source of raw material is cotton. The cultivation and processing of cotton has a major impact on the environment, which is why our focus is on finding sustainable alternatives. The bed linen from the Beddinghouse Care collection is made from materials that disperse moisture well, have antibacterial properties and are generally easier to recycle. The amount of water used in the production of these materials is considerably less than that is used in the production of more traditional materials, also fewer chemicals such as pesticides, bleach and cheap and dangerous additives such as microplastics are used. The duvet covers are packaged in FSC-cardboard packaging with a PET-window. This means that the raw material for the packaging comes from responsibly managed forests. This packaging is a lot more durable and can simply be disposed of with the old paper so that it can be recycled again.

Lyocell is made from the cellulose fibres from beech trees. These trees can be grown using waste water and fewer harmful solvents. The cultivation process is very environmentally because the tree needs less water, pesticides and fertilizer to grown. In addition to this, lyocell has antibacterial qualities, an excellent moisture absorbing capacity and offers optimal ventilation.

Bamboo fibres have a natural, rapid growth and is known to improve soil fertility, reduce soil erosion and absorb CO2. Bamboo is antibacterial and therefore does not require the use of pesticides during cultivation. The fabric absorbs up to 70% more moisture than cotton and is very breathable, which makes it feel cool in summer and its insulating qualities provide comfortable warmth in winter.

Organic cotton, compared to normal cotton, is not exposed to harmful and synthetic pesticides, genetic modification or fertilizers. Our organic cotton is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified; an international organic textile label that sets quality requirements for the production of fibres. Organic cotton is breathable, moisture-absorbing, softer, thicker and more resistant to wear and tear, compared to normal cotton.

Beddinghouse x Van Gogh Museum Collection Bedding House is proud to be the official partner of the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam. The unique collaboration between the Van Gogh Museum and Bedding House results in a very special colllection of bedroom, bath and kitchen textiles. Each design is inspired by one of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings.

Japan theme

Japan

This season, the inspiration for our collection, came from a period, when Vincent was inspired by Oriental art. Japanese printmaking was one of Vincent’s biggest sources of inspiration, starting in 1887. The designs of the products are inspired on the paintings; Flowering Plum Orchard (after Hiroshige) and Peach Tree in Blossom.

Japanese floor cushions Inspired by traditional Japanese floor cushions, the Zabuton decorative cushion completes the collection around the Japanese theme. The decorative cushions in ochre and red have a three-pointed embroidery stitch in the centre that traditionally indicates the direction you are supposed to sit on it. In the centre and at the corners, you will find subtle light red tassels that originally symbolise good luck in Japanese culture.

Peach Tree in Blossom The tree Van Gogh painted was just a frail little sapling. But filling the whole length and breadth of the canvas with it gives it something majestic. Van Gogh learned this technique of isolating, enlarging and foregrounding a single element of a landscape from Japanese woodcuts. He admired Japanese prints enormously and constantly tried to equal them in his paintings. It was the height of spring. Van Gogh said that he had six paintings of ‘blossoming fruit trees’ on the go. He hoped paintings of this appealing subject would sell well.

The White Orchard Soon after Van Gogh arrived in Arles, the spring came. There were many fruit orchards around the city. He enthusiastically painted a large series of studies of orchards in blossom. These plum trees were poorly maintained, as their long branches show. Van Gogh was especially fond of timeworn trees like these.

Plum Blossoms Van Gogh was a great admirer of Japanese art. He wrote that it made him happy and cheerful. He made three paintings after Japanese prints from his own collection. This gave him a chance to explore the Japanese printmakers’ style and use of colour. The first of these copies is based on Utagawa Hiroshige’s Plum Garden in Kameido. Van Gogh accurately reproduced the composition but made the colours much more intense. He replaced the black and grey of Hiroshige’s tree trunk with red and blue tones. He also added the two orange borders with Japanese characters for a decorative and exotic effect.

Almond trees flower early in spring. The tree therefore marks the arrival of spring and the start of new life. And that was very appropriate in this case, as Vincent didn’t paint this work for just any old reason. The painting was a gift for his brother and the birth of his son.

Almond Blossom In January 1890 Theo wrote to Vincent that his wife Johanna had given birth to a son. The baby was to be named Vincent Willem, after his godfather. As a gift for the new arrival Vincent painted a picture of one of his favourite subjects, large branches of blossom against a blue sky. He thought that the work could be hung above the marital bed. Vincent chose the branches of the almond tree as a symbol of new life for the almond is one of the earliest trees to blossom, heralding spring in February. The artist drew his inspiration for the welldefined contouring and positioning of the tree in the picture plane from Japanese prints.

Nature was hugely important to Vincent. It endlessly inspired and comforted him. In the south of France he searched for the colour and light, he made many different flowers in both natural landscape and prepared still life settings.

Sunflowers A symphony in blue and yellow was how Van Gogh thought the interior of the yellow house should appear when Gauguin arrived. He wanted to impress his friend with a series of decorative still lifes of sunflowers. These still lifes were to grace the walls of Gauguin’s bedroom and be framed with ‘thin slats of wood, painted in red lead’. Van Gogh started the series with great ardour. He had to work quickly as the flowers quickly wilted in a vase: ‘I am painting with the enthusiasm of a resident of Marseilles eating bouillabaisse [Provençal fish soup], which shall not surprise you, when it involves painting large sunflowers’. Gauguin considered the paintings highly successful and declared that sunflowers should be Van Gogh’s trademark. Vincent later produced two loose copies, one of which is now in the Van Gogh Museum.

Small Bottle with Peonies and Blue Delphiniums Van Gogh painted this flower still life on a simple piece of card,using rapid, loose brushstrokes. It is one of many studies in which he experimented with the effects of different colours on each other. His brother Theo wrote to their mother: ‘He is mainly painting flowers, with the aim of making future pictures brighter in colour’. Theo wrote that acquaintances were giving Van Gogh a bunch of flowers every week. This was one of the first bunches he painted; many more were to follow.

Trees and Undergrowth In Paris, Van Gogh experimented with the Pointillist stippling technique. This woodland scene is a good example. He covered the entire canvas with small dots of paint. The result is a play of light and shadow on the ground between the trees. The strip of yellow in the middle suggests the sunlight of a clearing in the distance. Along with the tree trunk on the right, it brings depth to the scene.

Boulevard de Clichy Boulevard de Clichy is one of the major streets in the Paris district of Montmartre, where many artists lived. Van Gogh painted the junction that he often crossed. Rue Lepic, where he lived with his brother Theo, began on the right, just beyond the edge of the picture. In Paris, Van Gogh was exposed to the latest art movements of his day, Impressionism and Pointillism. This gradually led him to use lighter colours. He also experimented with a variety of painting techniques. His style of brushwork, with many dashes of paint side by side, shows the influence of these art movements. In the same paintings, he also tried out diluted oil paint.

Self-portraits

The majority of Vincents self-portraits – over 25 – were done while he was in Paris (1886–1888). He was short of money in that period and struggled to find models. So the artist chose the simplest solution and painted himself. To save money, he sometimes painted selfportraits on the back of other paintings. By doing that, he avoided the costs not only of a model but also of expensive canvas. Three of his self-portraits are used on our decorative cushion designs.

In designing our new spring bedding collection, we kept mornings like these in our minds. With a mix of flowers, trusted stripes and a few new playful checkered patterns, we created a set of designs that will definitely bring this seasons bliss into your bedroom.

In 1947, the 'Monthly Magazine for Crafts' appeared on store shelves for the first time. This magazine was tailored to women who enjoyed working with needle and thread. In every issue, they could find trendy patterns and inspiration to create clothing for themselves and their children, as well as ideas to brighten up their interiors with romantic embroidery and crocheted accessories. In 1959, the magazine was renamed 'Ariadne: Monthly Magazine for Crafts' and the cover was also spruced up with a splash of colour.

FROM FASHION TO HOME While there were always great ideas for your interior in 'Ariadne', in the early days the emphasis was primarily on fashion. This changed in the 90s: for the first time, atmospheric photos of living rooms appeared on the cover. In the 2000s, the magazine was revamped once again and received its current name: Ariadne at Home.

Spring/Summer '24 collection A lifelong passion for nature combined with a desire to show people what is right there in their backyard is the source of Marjolein’s inspiration. Marjolein’s artwork exhibits her endless curiosity and fascination with nature. The collection brings that sentiment straight into your home. Capturing her love for nature, this bedding collection is a collaborative effort between Marjolein Bastin and Bedding House.

Marjolein’s love for nature started at a young age. While exploring her parents’ garden in Loenen aan de Vecht, every creature, flower and plant captured her imagination. Projecting her fascination with the natural world onto a piece of paper has been her life’s mission, starting with a few sketches she drew for her mother to the paintings that give all of us a glimpse into Marjolein’s world. Her travels give Marjolein the opportunity to give us a glimpse into what nature has to offer throughout the world. No insect too small, no flower too timid, Marjolein uncovers elements in nature that are easily overlooked by others. A butterfly fluttering over a field of wildflowers, a squirrel hastily stocking its food reserves, a lone cuckoo flower on the lawn; suddenly they take center stage. All the designs show her love for nature and emphasize that happiness can be found close to home.
