Practical sports performance: pupils are marked on the performance in 4 sports from a range of activity areas

Pupil Qualities • Highly able sports performer who is looking to further their knowledge of sport, physical activity, fitness and health • Have a passion for the subject and a keen interest in sport, how the body works and healthy active lifestyles • Pupil should be a strong practical performer in a range of sports and activities. We suggest pupils should be representing the school A teams, county or region in at least two sports • Pupils should be fit and willing to improve their performance through committed training • We have high academic expectations and find the exam is comparable to GCSE Biology, requiring candidates to apply their full range of sports knowledge

Level 2 Cambridge National Certificate in Sport Science

Level 2 sport science exam R041 - exam 1 hour 15 min, 70 marks, worth approx. 40% of final grade. 2 units of work that have predominantly written tasks to accompany practical tasks in fitness training and fitness testing and health screening. one unit is worth 80 marks worth approx. 40% of final grade, one unit is worth 40 marks worth approx. 20% final grade.

• Passionate sports enthusiast who is looking to further their knowledge of sport, physical activity, fitness and health • Have a passion for the subject and a keen interest in physical activity, how the body works and healthy active lifestyles • Pupils are not assessed on their practical sports performance but a knowledge of training fitness and health would be advantageous • Pupils would find it useful to have access to a laptop or tablet that they can word process documents on during lessons • We have high academic expectations and pupils taking this qualification should be able to manage their time effectively
