Each year vacancies under the Trainee Technician scheme are available for people wishing to pursue a career in horticulture by gaining practical experience. Based within the 40-acre Botanic Garden, the trainees are able to learn and perform the wide range of horticultural skills that are required to maintain a diverse collection of over 8,000 plants, which is of international importance. The scheme is demanding and is intended for those wishing to gain experience in practical horticulture, collection management and plantsmanship. Trainees are part of the staff of the Botanic Garden and receive a salary. Trainees who successfully complete the scheme will be awarded a Certificate of Higher Education in Practical Horticulture and Plantsmanship by the University Of Cambridge Institute Of Continuing Education, which works closely with the Botanic Garden. Maintenance Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship – Bedford Salary: £16,890 Closing date: 30 March 2018

Apprentices will work towards NVQ Level 3 diploma in Maintenance Engineering. In addition to obtaining a NVQ Lvel 3, Apprentices will specialise in one of the following: Mechanical maintenance engineering - develop more detailed skills in the fabrication, machining & repair of complex precision equipment and systems. Multi-skilled maintenance engineering - develop more detailed skills in the testing of electrical equipment and circuits, instrumentation, data acquisition, process control systems, programmable controllers and servo-drives The apprenticeships consists of part time study at a college provider chosen by the site and on site experience working with an experienced engineering team. Completion of the programme will ensure you have the knowledge and skills to work safely and effectively as part of a world class team preparing and operating the pilot plant and all associated rapid prototyping & precision engineering equipment and systems. Hotel Leone is a small boutique hotel and restaurant in Montelparo, Le Marche,
Central Italy and is owned and run by an English couple – Madeline and Tim Jones. The hotel has been open since the start of May 2012 and its busiest time is during the summer months of July and August. We have a varied client base providing an exceptionally high level of personalised service. Every one of our customers is a V.I.P! We operate with a small team of staff who need to be able to cover varied positions. We don’t employ ‘a receptionist’, ‘a barman’, ‘a waitress’ - each member of the team is expected to seamlessly merge these roles as needed (and frequently at the same time!). We are searching for a student to join us for 3 months in the summer season (ideally June August/September) where they will have the opportunity to work in the service industry. We will provide accommodation and all meals. In return we require the student to work an average of 40-hour week spread over 6 days with one day off each week. This will most likely entail split shifts as we must cover breakfast, lunch and dinner services as well as a bar, which is open all day. The main duties are outlined below in the Job Description but these may be extended to other areas of the hotel if the need arises e.g. general administration duties, reception, room servicing.

Seasonal Education Enrichment Assistants We are looking to recruit Education Enrichment Assistants for the 2018 season. This varied and interesting role involves taking groups of visitors on guided tours in the VIP Land Rover on encounters such as 'Safari Off Road Adventures' and 'Keeper for the Day'. It also includes teaching sessions, education talks and guided coach tours with school groups, assisting with our holiday programme and administration. We are looking for individuals with experience of working with children across a range of ages, preferably with experience in teaching or with environmental education. Previous experience of working with animals is desirable along with exceptional communication and customer service skills. You should also be flexible and a proactive team player, who has a strong interest and enthusiasm for animals and conservation. These positions are fixed term; one contract has an immediate start until the beginning of November 2018. Other contracts are for the summer months July until September 2018. Weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required from all positions. Selection will be via an Assessment Day, which will take place on the 26th February 2018.

Switch Socials is a weekly social group for young adults, 16-30 years old, with learning difficulties and disabilities. The group runs Tuesday evenings 7pm-9pm (term-time). This social group involves age-appropriate activities for the young people to enjoy with their friends.
