Land-based Apprenticeships Land-based apprenticeships are extremely popular for individuals who enjoy practical work outside and have a keen interest in working with land, plants and/or livestock. There are four main land based apprenticeships available; Agriculture (farming and livestock), Horticulture (landscaping and gardening), Arboriculture (trees and timber) and Environmental. These types of Apprenticeships allow you to develop the skills and knowledge required by employers in land-based industries, providing you with the chance to gain on-the-job experience whilst also studying for a qualification.

Motor Vehicle Apprenticeships Motor Vehicle apprenticeships offer a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work as a mechanic within the vehicle maintenance and repair industry. There is a constant demand for skilled technicians to repair and service vehicles and continuing advancement in vehicle technology means that technicians need to have high technological skills as well as good mechanical skills. ZSL Animal Careers Conference – 29 August 2017 This is a one-day conference hosted at ZSL London Zoo and aimed at people aged 16+ who are interested in pursuing an animal based career. The conference will begin with a talk from a keynote speaker to tell you the story of an exciting career. There will then be four sessions throughout the day where ZSL speakers from different departments will give you short insights into their careers and how they got there. There will also be four short, practical activities to consolidate your knowledge of each theme of work. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and you will be able to access the zoo at lunch time and after the conference has ended. This conference will be most useful to students aged 16+ who know they would like to work with animals, but are not sure what direction to go in. There are many diverse and varied animal careers and this event will aim to give you an overview of some of them. There is a charge for attending this event, however ZSL are offering an early-bird rate for tickets purchased before 31st March 2017. There are also a small number of fully-funded places available.
