Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship The Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme at Network Rail is open to anyone who will be aged 18 on or before 29 September 2018. There’s no upper age limit. Although part of your first year is spent at Network Rail’s Training Centre, you will be allocated a local depot. This is where you will be based for the remainder of your first year and the second and third years of the scheme. Led by an energetic and creative Livestock Manager, the farm team delivers the Trust’s agriculture engagement plan. On a typical day, you might be mucking out barns and sweeping paths, working with our (rare breed) Suffolk Punch horses, giving a tour of our 18th C, Grade 2* working watermill, grooming ponies with the public, or just helping our visitors have a great day at the Farm. As greenkeepers we are required to start early in order to set the course up for the days play. Start times are normally between 5.30-6 am based on an 8 hour day. You’ll also be helping our Area Ranger with all aspects of conservation work across Wicken Fen, and will help to ensure that we’re delivering outstanding outdoors experiences for our visitors. The ideal candidate should hold the minimum of a Level 1 or 2 motor vehicle qualification and will have workshop experience gained from either an independent or franchised automotive environment. Applicants should have a keen interest in motor vehicle technology and will also need you to be physically fit and prepared to work outdoors, whatever the weather.

Volunteers wanted – St Neots Switch Socials is the social arm of Switch Now, a not-for-profit training organisation, based in St Neots. Switch Socials is a weekly social group for young adults, 16-30 years old, with learning difficulties and disabilities. The group runs Tuesday evenings 7pm-9pm (term-time). This social group involves age-appropriate activities for the young people to enjoy with their friends. We are seeking reliable, responsible and enthusiastic volunteers, to work with and support the young people who attend this group, in the activities they do. The activities are predominately based at The Bargroves Centre in St Neots or in the local community of St Neots. The activities may include arts & crafts, sports activities, dance classes, bingo and games including themed party nights, etc. You will need a DBS and if possible some experience of working with this target audience, although the main thing is that you can enrich the evenings for these young people, through support, engagement and fun! Travel expenses will be reimbursed. Refreshments will be provided. Please note: there may be other volunteering opportunities available, please enquire for more information.
