Common Question s

How many days a week will I be in college?

• ◦On average, you will be in college approximately 3 days per week.

• This is dependent on your Maths and English GCSE results • If you achieve less than a 4 in your Maths or English GCSE you will be required to retake the exam.

Do I have to do GCSE English/Math s?

• Yes, but only if you achieve less than a Grade 4 in your GCSEs • This is because the standard for Higher Education of careers is a grade 4, as such you will be given the opportunity to attend GCSE Math/English sessions and re-take your GCSE whilst also studying your Science course.

• Yes, work placement is a crucial part of your course.

Do I have to do work placement ?

• It does not affect your overall grade, but it is a requirement as part of your enrollment. • Work placement is there to allow you to apply all the skills you learn in college within a work-based scenario, relevant to your course or future career. • You will be completing between 30-315 hours of work placement within your first year depending on the level you are studying. • Work placement is unpaid, as such you cannot count your part time hours. • Work placement is included on your timetable as it is mandatory

• After this presentation we will discuss with you your application to confirm details.

What happens next?

• We will also answer any questions you may have • After the discussion you will be informed on whether you have a conditional offer or no. • If you have a conditional offer, you will receive a confirmation email from the college which will have a link where you accept our offer – this must be accepted within 2 week of the email. • If you have not been offered a place, you can discuss the reasons and we can provide advice on your next steps.

What happens if I do not get the required grades?

• Please still contact us on GCSE results day and have a discussion • We can help provide options for you so that you have a pace to go in September.
