ROYAL GURKHA

There are some restaurants that you want to keep returning to time and time again, the Royal Gurkha is that for me. Based on the corner of Tavistock Street, the original building was built during the reign of King George IV.

Inside the restaurant is contemporary and highlights the character features. You are immediately greeted by the fantastic smell of spices wafting from the kitchen which will set your appetite on fi re.

The menu focuses on Nepalese food with infl uences from Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine. Starters should be compulsory here, I love the Momo, Nepalese dumplings, and the Veg Manchurian for something spicy. The portions are great, the mixed grill was enough to feed the whole table! Make sure to save plenty of room for the main course, the Signature dishes are not to be missed. The show stopper has to be the Dum Ki Nalli – caramelised slow cooked while lamb shank in a rich spiced sauce.

The service is second to none, the sta are attentive and the owner is often on hand too to ensure you have a fun evening. You can also enjoy from the comfort of your own home, takeaway is available.
