Bedford Blues

Bedford Town Football Club

The Eagles have gone from strength to strength this season and are undefeated in 2022, their last loss in the Southern League was back in November when they lost to title chasing Berkhamsted. This year, only two points have been dropped in a hard-fought draw at the home of Thame United. Thame went ahead just before half time and followed with a second in the fi rst minutes of the second, but Bedford didn’t give up and goals from Rory McAuley and Connor Tomlinson ensured the points were shared.

Bedford’s biggest match so far this season was the home tie against Berkhamsted, who at the time were two points behind top of the table Bedford with a game in hand, so this match was critical, and the Bedford public shared the importance of the occasion as a fantastic 1,254 fans, probably the biggest league crowd since the Eagles reformed came to the Eyrie. They were treated to a fantastic game of football that saw Bedford score in each half – a penalty slotted home by the ever-reliable Rene Howe, and a second half cannon ball shot from Charley Sanders which gave the defence and keeper little chance.

At the time of writing the Eagles sit two points clear of Berkhamsted at the top of the table, with the same number of games played.
