Varroa reaches the USA
Infestation of honeybee colonies with the mite Varroa jacobsoni has been confirmed in the States of Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The USDA has immediately brought emergency quarantine conditions into effect and implemented extensive surveys.

Stop press: IBRA has now been informed that Varroa has been identified in Saskatchewan, Canada and a further seven states in the USA.
