PORTLAND
This is the southernmost point of the county of Dorset, England. Famous for its use in British and world architecture, including St Paul’s Cathedral and the United Nations Headquarters. Portland stone is a limestone from the Tithonian stage of the Jurassic period quarried on the Isle of Portland. This particular sort of stone gives a unique approch of shape, for both, mason and carver. For this reason, this issue relate a recent trip of collecting stones for the breton / cornish carver S. Rouget.
