!
Bekaert warrants the validity of its software and the resulting design note as a methodology. Bekaert is nevertheless unable to have an insight in (and a control over) the correctness of the data (such as but not limited to correct geometry, materials and design conditions). The choice between different foundation techniques is to be made by the building engineer. No allowance has been made for settlements and deformations of the subground or foundation.
Practical recommendations: ✔ This system is only suitable for foundations with elastic subbase and without significant water pressure. (The occasional use of thermic insulation as subbase requires a minimum compression modulus of 120 kPa - 10 % compression)
✔ Thickness of raft should be between 200 and 400 mm. Maximum slab dimensions without dilatation joints: 25 m x 15 m. ✔ The solution must be checked and approved by the statical engineer responsible for the project. ✔ Keep the auxiliary reinforcement to cover peak moments (i.e. point loads, heavy line loads, corners, …).
