Aliya Pakraven Talks Fashion Photography Aliya Pakravan’s Fashion Photography. Reported by Bella Bradley ME: Who were your main influences? ALIYA: Well I really like fashion photography, and try to focus my work primarily around this. I love the works of Mario Testino, Oscar Folk the work of David Bailey’s work and try to adopt that style. ME: Did you use artificial lighting during your photoshoot? ALIYA: Yes, I used a tall lamp with a strong bulb to give of a good contrasting shadow effect and I placed it to the left front of the image. ME: What was the theme given, or chose to use to produce such image? ALIYA: As I said I try to use Fashion photography wherever I can, this particular image was under a topic ‘artificial light’ therefore a very wide choice of topic and I wanted to give a summer, fresh, catwalk model type image, maybe
could be used as an advertisement. ME: Are you please with the overall image, is it successful and would you change any aspects? ALIYA: Yes I love it, its one of many from a shoot, it is clear this is a Fashion image and could be placed in a magazine to promote the clothes which is often what fashion photography is all about. Yes I feel it is successful as I was able to use this under my given topic Artificial light and it works well with the colour, contrast and lighting. ME: What type of camera did you use and what was the camera lens? ALIYA: I just used my ordinary camera lens for this fairly close up image, and I used my Canon EOS camera. ME: Thank You.
