Belle lumière 2016 SPRING WORKSHOP

Twenty Sixteen Workshops Belle Lumère is beyond excited to bring you three amazing opportunities in 2016 to not only immerse yourself in film, but also to be a part of a community and reinspire yourself as an artist. After two amazing

years of traveling around and putting together four memorable workshops, we are excited to announce some changes for this coming year.

We want to go back to “simple.” Back to creating an event that is more about education, simplicity, and community. We understand film is a journey. It’s not a short trip where you can learn everything you need to know in a single day. As a film photographer, you are always growing and evolving. You always have questions and the urge to hear opinions on your work. Things like this that pop up days and weeks after a workshop. This is why for all our 2016 workshops, the actual workshop does not end after eveyone

goes home. No, the group and community that we create during our two days will contunie on in a pri-

vate forum set up just for our attendees for each individual event. This way questions can be asked, images can be shared, and you will have a support group behind you for your film journey.

OUr Team We truly strive to make sure we use the best vendors out there possible to bring all our attendees the best

experience they can get!! For our River Oaks workshop we are excited to be teaming up with the following creatives to bring you an unforgettable event!!

LEXI VORNBERG - The founder and curator behind Belle Lumiere. With a HUGE passion for com-

munity and education planning events like these is what she wants to spend her life doing. Lexi is also a film photographer and primarily shoots 35mm. @bellelumieremagazine

Kylie Martin - Kylie is a modern fine art film wedding photographer living on the east coast. Be-

yond photography she enjoys so many things in life. On her weekends you can find her sipping bubbly and poorly singing Taylor Swift songs. @kyliemartinphotography

Lacy Geary - Her passion for creative design and love of nature and organic beauty is what drives

her design aesthetic. Lacy has a strong desire to create something that exudes life and uniqueness with each individual event or project she is working on. @lacygeary

Stephen Wood - Being part of Photovision’s family he knows everything from the shooting side

of film to the lab side. All our attendees love to pick his brain for information so don’t be shy to ask him a question. @photovisionprints

Marianne Caldwell - It only takes one meeting with Marianne to see that she’s not your

typical event planner. While she is excellent at timelines, color palettes and details, Marianne excels in

planning for relational, meaningful moments within the event and teaching others how to do the same. @riveroakscharleston

RIVER OAKS We knew River Oaks would be the perfect venue for our first workshop of 2016! With it’s stunning little

nooks and European feel, there is so much beauty here to be captured and discovered. Located about 30

minutes outside of Charleston, SC, it’s the perfect place to not only push yourself as an artist, but is also close to one of the most beautiful cities in the states.

The main day of our workshop will be held here, including our teaching time and our two styled shoots. All our workshops are broken up into sections so that each attendee is only shooting in groups of four

photographers. This way everyone has plenty of time to slow down, shoot film, and ask for help or

questions, as needed. Nothing is ever rushed and we want everyone to feel as though they have time to capture their own vision without pushing their way through too many others doing the same.

Day One’s shoots include a fully styled bridal shoot including, but not limited to, a table scape, invitation suite, bride, bouquet, and a styled maternity shoot. All shoots will be styled to the same aesthetic of our venue and surrounding.

What YOU WILL LEARN Day one will consist of classroom time in the morning and then hands-on shooting time in the afternoon. All of our attentees will walk away with the following:

1-on-1 attention and hands-on teachings and help by our lovely and knowledgable guest speakers A lesson from Stephen of Photovision on the lab side of the film partnership

A lesson from Kylie Martin on her film journey and incorporating film into your life

A lesson from Lexi of Belle Lumiere on how to shoot with an editorial eye and what blogs and magazines are looking for A lesson going over all the basics of film, from loading to sending film in

Small shooting groups and the opportunity to learn in a small, intimate environment

Multiple styled shoots by our creative team that allow you to shoot different colors, textures, and lighting at an amazing venue An amazing opportunity to learn hands-on anything and everything you want to know about shooting film

The opportunity to be part of an amazing community that will support you with your film journey, whether it’s with medium format or 35mm Access to a private forum after the workshop, to continue to learn and grow for three months

The ability to not only use your images for your portfolio and social media, but also to be able to submit your work to the publication of your choice

We will also have a styled maternity shoot during our first day, along with vignettes. This way our attendees are walking away with two full shoots from Day One and we can break everyone up into small shooting groups.

KIND WORDS ” We have attended many workshops throughout the past 6 years of our wedding photography business, and we can honestly say that the Belle Lumiere film workshop was one of the top workshops we have ever attended! The venue was gorgeous, styling was amazing, the model was out-of-this-world beautiful, and the instructors rocked! There was

plenty of time for the instructors to teach and answer questions, and we never felt rushed. It was an amazing work-

shop, and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering shooting film, a beginner film photographer, or a film photographer who is continuing their learning. Thank you Belle Lumiere! ” - Kathleen Atkins

” It truly was a great experience! I have only been to a few workshops prior to this one and have left feeling that

the groups were too big, I missed out on a lot of shots because we were being rushed or because the teaching photographer was shooting for publication purposes and forgetting that we were there to also shoot and learn. At this workshop, I felt like everyone really did care about each of the attendees getting their opportunity for each shot with the model and styling vignettes and all of the sponsors were so helpful with their knowledge and time throughout

the 2 days! I really liked that I was forced to leave my digital camera at home. As I transition from digital to film, I

tend to still shoot digital as a crutch instead of trusting my film so it was nice to be forced to trust myself with my film cameras! I am really so happy that I made the decision to join this workshop and I can’t wait to get my film scans back!! ” - Alicia Pyne

” This was the first film workshop I ever attended and I can say it was worth every penny. It was very well thought out

and organized. Lexi left no detail undone; to the beautiful surprise in the mail to our table setting when we arrived. It rained for the majority of the time and we still had the opportunity for amazing pictures. The model was gorgeous

and styling was perfection. I learned so much and I’m already incorporating film into my workflow. I highly recommend the Belle Lumiere film workshop! ” - Jessica Gliesman

” I wanted to let you know that the workshop was a really big turning point for me. Beforehand, I was cautiously shoot-

ing a roll or two at weddings with mixed results, but since applying everything I learned, I’m now shooting as much as I can on film – it’s all I bring to engagement sessions, and I’m getting all the details, portraits, etc. on wedding days in film with beautiful results. This is exactly what I was hoping to get out of the workshop!” – Kate Ignatowski

KIND WORDS ” The Belle Lumiere workshop was a complete turning point for me. I had discovered my love of film a few months before but had been intimidated to shoot a roll. Going into the workshop I had bought a film camera but had never

used it. After the workshop my knowledge had grown immensely and I felt more comfortable and confident in my

abilities. The styling at the workshop was absolutely incredible and the images that I took there gave me a beautiful starting point for my film portfolio. Overall the experience was a memorable one and I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to attend! ” – Catherine Smeader

” This workshop was something I had been eyeing for awhile. After a lot of thinking I made the last minute decision to attend and I’m so glad I did. Film photography is something I’ve desired to add into my work flow but never had the guts to do it, this workshop gave me just the push I needed to jump into the film world. Brushfire Photography

was amazing to work along side of and were so incredibly helpful and all the vendors were so beautiful and inspiring. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone whose been wanting to try out film, I learned why more then I could have ever imaged and would do it all over again in a heart beat! ” – Amanda Lenhardt

” The Belle Lumiere Workshop was truly inspirational! I loved working with such an amazing team of artist. The feel

was very organic and breathtaking, my two favorite things! I learned on film but switched to digital with the times. It was so refreshing to shoot with film again and create timeless images in a timeless way. I learned so much at this

workshop and have been incorporating the things I learned into my own business and would now like to call myself

a hybrid shooter. I networked with so many other amazing photographers and vendors that I now can call good friends. I highly recommend this workshop to photographers at any level in the carrier. ” – Bre

” I was a last minute addition to the BL workshop this summer and I am SO glad I made the decision to attend. I’m very new to film and wanted to attend a workshop where I could learn how to meter light, learn about different

film stocks, and get the chance to shoot while having experienced film shooters available to ask questions. I got all of that and much more out of the BL workshop. Every detail was well planned and the live shoots were incredibly

informative and breathtakingly beautiful. I enjoyed learning from all of the vendors and I really appreciated how the workshop was structured. We had the opportunity to learn from Brushfire Photo, hear how film is developed

and scanned by Photovision Prints, and watch Ginny Au create her beautiful masterpieces all while learning about styling and branding. I would love to be a repeat attendee for this amazing workshop! ” – Melissa DeLorme
