Bellfield College Bus Surveillance Tuesday, 18 May 2021 Dear parents/carers, Asalamu Alaikum, As of Monday, 24th May 2021 all the school operated ‘Out and About Buses Pty Ltd’ will be fitted with school operated video surveillance. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and bus drivers. Please be aware that this footage is completely confidential and will be accessed only by senior executives when necessary. Parents/carers are also reminded of their obligation to discuss with their child/ren the Bellfield College bus policy (below) and the consequences for student misbehaviour that are consistent with the student discipline policy. Students are discouraged from eating on the bus however if they do, they must place all rubbish in the bin provided on board the bus. Failure to do so, may result in a bus suspension. Furthermore, under no circumstances are parents permitted to board the bus to reprimand/discipline other children. In order to provide a safe trip for each of our students we ask that you support us in this aim, by reminding your son/daughter of the important bus rules below: • • • • • • • • • •
Remain seated throughout the trip (under NO circumstances are children to stand or walk around the bus, unless instructed by the driver to do so) Do not call out of windows, or put hands out of windows Do not throw items out of the bus No drinking hot liquids sit in seats allocated by the teacher or bus driver Listen and follow ALL instructions given by the teacher or bus driver Do not bring, DS games or any other electronic devices onto buses (this encourages children to argue over games and encourages them to leave their seats and share games and devices) Do not bully, tease or taunt other students Refrain from rudeness, swearing or use of inappropriate language Any form of damaging bus property or graffiti will result in instant bus suspension.
Bus Suspension Is the withdrawal of bus privileges for continuous misbehaviour on the bus. This means that the students will not be allowed to board the bus and their parents will have to drive them to and from school. Failure to attend school on the day of the bus suspension will result in the suspension being carried over to another day negotiated between the CEO/Principal and parents. A suspension can only be issued after an interview with parents/carers followed by written confirmation - this may be a formal letter or email. In addition, ‘Out and About Buses Pty Ltd’ reserves the right to suspend or terminate use of the bus service for students who do not adhere to the Bellfield bus code of conduct.
