Assalamu Alaykum Dear parents and carers This week we commemorated our ANZACs and held a special assembly run by our student leaders. I would like to thank parents who attended and congratulate our students on their participation and behaviour during the assembly. Many congratulations also to the students who received awards at the end of our ANZAC Day assembly. I would also like to thank all our wonderful volunteers who helped with our Mother’s Day Stall. Our students enjoyed browsing through the goods on sale and making careful choices to ensure their mothers receive the best possible gifts on Mothers Day. “We have commanded you to be kind to your parents. In pain your mother carried you, and in pain she gave birth to you.” Qur’an 46:15 May you all enjoy the Ramadan break, and to all our loving Mothers and caregivers, have a happy Mother’s Day on the 9th May. We look forward to welcoming you all back on campus after the break. Warmest regards Miss Harold

MRS STEVENSON DEPUTY HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL Dear Families,
Quote: "We drive a long way to come to Bellfield, but it's worth it. Our children love all their teachers and love coming to school each day"
Junior School Parent
It has been a privilege to meet many new families seeking enrolment for 2022. I always ask parents why Bellfield is the right school for their children, to which they respond with comments which make me proud and excited about the work we are doing here. Bellfield College is known for the ways we care for each student, provide academic excellence and develop the values and faith of Islam. Please encourage any friends or families who are considering enrolment at Bellfield College, to contact the office and begin the application process as soon as possible. Tying shoe laces Children aged 6 and above should begin to tie their own shoelaces. Please spend time checking whether your child can do this independently. Students take their shoes off each day when they attend prayer and tying their laces is an important life skill - both for independence and for safety.

MRS STEVENSON DEPUTY HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL Scholastic Book Club The best gift any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success in school. Each order helps earn free books and teaching materials for our College, however there is no obligation to order. I know of no better way to encourage reading than to allow children to choose the books they want to read. All orders are now online only. The Book Club LOOP platform allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school safe and sound and the books will be delivered to class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/LOOP or using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
I pray that you and your family enjoy a blessed Ramadan break, Kind regards Mrs N. Stevenson

FOR THE LOVE OF LEARNING IN 1C The boys and girls in 1C have been working hard all year to grow their skills in all areas of their learning! In Visual Arts lessons, the boys and girls in 1C have been putting lots of passion into their projects as they work with various medias to create patterns and prints. Their artworks have made our classroom so bright and beautiful!
VOLUME 12 • APRIL 30 2021 1C students have been practicing their Mathematics whole number skills in warm-up drills and through number-based activities and games before their numeracy lessons. The wholenumber knowledge and skills that young students build is a crucial foundation, so we try to engage with these concepts in new and fun ways that involve hands-on learning in our classroom. This term, 1C students are on their way to becoming place value experts!
VOLUME 12 • APRIL 30 2021 In Science, students loved exploring living things; from identifying what they are, to researching their needs, and experimenting with how they grow in term 1. They are looking forward to our new unit of work exploring and experimenting with materials in term 2!
The boys and girls in 1C are putting so much dedication and effort into their leaning in the classroom. They exemplify the love of learning that we should all strive to embody and build every day! Miss R. Chokr 1C – Classroom Teacher

LEARNING QURAN
Assalamu Alaikom Bellfield Parents,
َ ” َ ﻦ ﺗَ َﻌﻠﱠ َﻢ ْاﻟ ُﻘ ْﺮ ْ ﺧ ْﻴﺮُ ُﻛ ْﻢ َﻣ “ آن َوﻋَ ﻠﱠ َﻤ ُﻪ “The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” Welcome back to Term 2 and Ramadan Mubarak to you and your families. We hope you have had a wonderful break. It is a great pleasure teaching your child the language of Quran this year. The language that takes them on a journey closer to Allah swt. In this term, students in year 5 are continuing to learn about how to read, write and articulate the Arabic alphabet to refine their Arabic skills. This is an important step for the students to excel in learning all the other aspects of the Arabic language. Also, students are concluding the memorisation of Surat Al-Takweer and they will start memorising Surat Abasa after Ramadan break. To achieve ultimate outcomes, your support is greatly appreciated. To help your child: o Practice Reading the Quran Sura every night ( listening to a Sheikh and repeating after him) o Memorise the Sura assigned for the term. o Complete and hand in the homework. o Make sure your child comes prepared for each lesson. Warm regards Bayda Mahmood

NSW PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE Dear Parents and carers, What is the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge? The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. The PRC is open to all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 9, in government, independent, Catholic and home schools. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. Students must read a certain number of books to complete the Challenge. Upon successful completion of the Challenge, students will be eligible for a PRC certificate in Term 4. When is the challenge? The 2021 Challenge opened to students on Monday March 1, 2021 and will close on Friday August 20, 2021. How does my child sign up? Students will receive their login shortly from their class teacher. Students will use their login to access their online profile and log the books they read online. What should my child read? Please encourage your children to read the books that have been shortlisted on the website prc@det.nsw.edu.au . Students can borrow books from the College library. Also, a trip to your local library is always a nice way to ensure you have the correct books, as they are easy to find. By encouraging and engaging all our students to partake in this initiative we hope to develop a greater love for reading and to further improve their literacy and vocabulary skills. If you need help using the website and the answer cannot be found on the PRC Support site, please contact us at the College on 9606 2666. Warm Regards Miss Balloot K-6 Literacy and Numeracy Instructional Leader
